Not gonna lie, those WERE the best episodes of Sailor Moon in my opinion. (Of seasons 1 and 2 at least). Seasons 1 and 2 were VERY messed. But the cardians arc was consistently good from beggining to end. Not to mention, the villains had secret identities too, and they got to bounce off the scouts' personalities. That made them MUCH more fun than any other villain in those seasons.
At first I didn't know that the whole Ail and An subplot was just a filler plot and was really disappointed when the characters just forgot about them...
While I do think Vince Corazza is best out of the DiC/Cloverway Tuxedo Masks, I'm not really buying him as Ail - he sounds like he needs a glass of water badly, he sounds too rough. Hikaru and Brian were far better.
I've noticed, if you don't have a generic, conventionally bland accent neutral nebraskan 2010's voice, any deviation from this, purists label you as smoking 64 packs a day, old grandma voice, or needing a glass of water. You have VERY little tolerance for anything outside that narrow construct. How is he better as tux, if he has the SAME supposedly dry parched voice?
Japanese voice actors sound the same to me (for all Anime). Maybe because Japanese isn't my native language so I can't tell the difference. But I do find that the villains seem to stand out better than all the other characters. I feel like their persona & demeanor is better emphasized even though all the characters sound the same. I dunno how else to explain it. Somehow, the monotonous voice acting seems to work for the villains.
Vince as tuxedo mask was a down grade, he was soo self aware, not always immersed (not DIC) Vince as Alan was great, he brought out that characters humanity (DIC). VIZ is blah, he sounds like a dweeb, but it was decent, actually pretty good.

When it finally came back, everything was off, the magic was gone, Tracy and Roland(melvin) were no longer the voice directors. Paved the way for cloverway. I also understand, to them, if the entire VIZ cast and voice directors and script writers were fired, came back years later, it was still be considered viz to them, no matter how bad and far removed it was from how viz used to be. Vis a vis writers strike of 2008 that killed off dozens of tv shows. For the sake of purists bashing dic, they like to lump it all together, which includes the cloverway dub, done by a different team in a different decade.

Agreed! Sure they censored some of the storyline, but their adaption made it feel like magic exists! Their Sailor Moon was so magical!
