2:23 it's because the icon is an eye, and humans have a tendency to pay attention to eyes. It wouldn't be sucha big deal if they just had added the spectator count without the icon.
Compares elite Keshik to Cavalier: +20hp, -1 attack, -1 melee armor, +1 pierce armor, +0.1 rate of fire (slower), +0.05 speed, -10 food cost, -35 gold cost + generates gold for fighting units... So they're basically Cavalier, but better vs archers, and maybe a bit worse vs other melee units, especially units with lower attack where that 1 armor is a big deal. They also train super fast (16s/14s elite, compared to 30s for cavalier, but made from castles, so less production potential). The cost is probably too low really; for ~half the gold cost of a cavalier (or less), you're getting a unit that's probably a bit better. Also flaming camels do 70 damage to cavalry, 100 to camels, and 150 to elephants in a 1.5 blast radius (3x the radius of petards). Seems good vs cavalry civs.
@@phantomaxl1207 their atk is ok in my opinion, they can always regen some gold back so their value is actually less than 40 gold, which is really good for what you get from them
Flaming Camels are as of now a meme unit. They don't beat elephants or paladins cost efficiently if the opponent is the biggest noob ever. And if you're against anyone decent they won't beat other cav cost efficiently either. I guess they're ok against cav if you have effectively infinite resources and you need to close a fight out fast but only in that case. Your numbers seem off too. I think it's 60 to cav and 100 to elephants.
@@obesechicken13 Looks like the numbers changed since I posted that. It's 60 vs cav/camels and 125 vs elephants now. Still, at 30 gold, if they hit at least 3 paladins/2 elephants/~2 heavy camel in that radius, they're trading efficiently. They're not a bad unit for countering enemy cav, especially when numbers are large. It's not going to be easy to micro against them when you have 40 paladins or something. Obviously, they're not something you want to make an army out of, but that doesn't make them a bad unit, just niche.
@@m136dalie It's faster for killing a large group of cavalry units similar to petards destroying walls or rams quicker but it could get a bit more buffed.

I thought "hey cool, someone playing with the flaming camel units". Didn't realize it was a TheViper playing. Holy shit my eyes hurt from the speed. How is this humanly possible.
ever since the keshik buff back in december i thought tatars were at least average. 50 food and 40 gold for 160 hp, 7 pierce armor, and it earns gold when attacking? no one else thought that was good before this patch? they absolutely destroy anything that's not anti cav through pure resource efficiency.
I saw how good they were, so a lot of people probably did. The reason nobody played them was that before you got to multiple castles, you were behind if not dead. Now that Thumb Ring is free, they have a much more viable option to get them there.
lol I just figured out the 'chop a tree down to logs then build on it' strategy. I wondered if it could be done while I was watching fatslob on T90s channel.
Sorry guys i have a dumb question but i need to know it. where do i get these effects and bonuses? I have AOE 2 with all expensions and i want to know how i can play the expansion of TheViper and get access to the new patches and the rest. Thanks!!
I'd still say that warwolf trebs are still the best. 100 % accuracy will always win treb wars. Unless you have shit ton of trebs. But tatar trebs are 2nd best.
Huns bonus of +30% more accurate trees while not getting siege engineers and having not very many good options at the workshop isn't really that good. They need a buff. Maybe make it 75% more accurate.
Because, it makes castles target rams, which makes the DPS of the castles be wasted. The downside to this choice though is that other pros exploit this, by attacking under the castles or outright attacking the castles like in this case.
T90 explained it like this : it's a costly tech (it costs stone, which is not ideal) ; it hurts when facing rams ; and a pro would never attack a castle with melee anyway, unless he can take it very fast, or they don't fear the castle fire anyway, because if the ennemi army comes to defend the castle, the melee units would be trapped since moving away from the castle would be running under it's fire
18:00 It really bothers me when pros say "X unit sucks" when fighting directly into the unit that it counters. Steppe lancers are good for clearing up archers/skirms, not for fighting camels 1v1 (or any other cav unit really)
Lancers are bad against archers in numbers though, they have low pierce armor. I'm still not sure what Lancers are good at besides raiding, but in 1v1 you would want hussars to do the raiding, and save your gold for your main pushing army. Even if with gold Keshiks are appreantly better choices for raid. My idea is mixing lancer with Knights/Keshiks but has yet to seen pros used them. Maybe too expensive for both Imp upgrades
@@tcsiyic3584 I think steppe lancers should be the cavalry version of that Ethiopian unique infantry that is speedy, high attack, but little armor and low HP. That way they can basically be a good hit-and-run/ raiding unit.
