Retired... designed sewing room in the basement of our new-to-us home starting with what I had. It is near a sink. Overhead lighting on a daylight spectrum was installed by an electrician. BEST DECISION MADE!!! Menards 9 X 6(?) area rug defined the open area. 3X7 covered chipboard laid on top of 3 small dressers. Bookshelf on one end and old changing table on the other provides storage for patterns and books. The height is perfect for a cutting table. 8 (double my need for the HEPA air cleaner, space heater and 2 machines.) outlets were put waist high next to the sewing table. The sewing table is the old style 5 foot folding table. (Sturdy without the bounce of the newer plastic ones) This fits both serger and general sewing machine. Because I already owned most of what was used, it is hard to give an exact cost. But, machines ? $2000. Electrician ? $200. (The entire house was upgraded) To be fair.. my fabric stash is in clear totes out of the sun on the existing shelves of a room once used for household maintenance supplies. Thanks for letting me share.
beautiful! I love all the Ikea stuff. Wish we had one closer. Love this space and it is proof that you don't have to have a large space to have a functional and amazing space. Thanks for the great video!
This room is beautiful. My sew room is not much bigger. There is only one thing I change I make, it will take a little more room for the sewing machine but I face away from the wall. I like face toward the circle of the room.
My sewing room is almost all IKEA and I love it! I have so much storage that I have some drawers that are empty. My favorite piece is a kitchen island with 12 (maybe 16?) small drawers and my cutting mat on top. I like the colors you chose and how clean and bright it is.
Love this video. I like that you can have an organized sewing space and have it stylish, too. I’m definitely purchasing floating shelves. I purchased my cabinets from you and I have to say the kangaroo cutting table with so much storage is the best. I’d take it over what you show-any day. It’s pricier but so functional. I know you’re showing lower price points, but your kangaroo cabinets are the best investments I’ve made for my sewing room. Love your creative videos. 😊
I am in th process of moving my sewing room around. It is a long narrow room close to 20ft long and 11 ft wide. I have a lot of fabric so that is an issue. Getting better though. I am not wanting to buy anything so working with what I have, decluttering and eliminating multiples of things.I do have an industrial type rug at my sewing station and I am very ok with it for now. If we can make or buy used then that is the way we go, lol adds interest lol. So that is what we are doing. I may have to move the sewing machine so there is more room as I sew a quilt together, it is up against and facing the corner. AND we missed you at the Boise quilt and craft fair this year. Hope to see you next year ! Thanks for sharing your room ,and tips it turned out ver nice for you.
I have 2 Alex drawer units in my studio too! One is for machine embroidery and the other holds a variety of odds and ends from rulers and stencils to sewn sections of hexies. I love mine. It is very versatile with clean lines.
Hello! Great tips on organizing the sewing room! You always have such great videos and ideas. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead. Thank you for sharing your video!
Thank you for this Teancum. I have a 10’ x 10’ 6” room and I’m stumped. This room has 2 dots and 2 long windows with an air duct against the floor/wall. Oh and a floor that slopes so when I’m sitting, the chair moves. 🤦🏻♀️ It’s just me with a heart condition so I can’t do much. Either way, fabulous room. 💜
I need a place for my vinyl and interfacing. They are on rolls. Doesn't look like it'll fit in this room. Turned out nice. I would like to see it full. Where would you place certain items? Thread? Fabric? Notions? Tools? Thanks for the ideas.
Yes it is the Arrow Millie Cutting and Ironing Table. We carry Arrow furniture and would be happy to help answer any questions or purchase anything shown in the video. Thanks so much for watching!🥰
Carpet in a sewing or craft room is a no go for me. Trying to vacuum the space becomes a nightmare. I like sweeping up after using the room, quick and easy.
what are the cm x cm on that tabel for cuting, i am goin to make my own becose it is way cheaper then geting something from Ikea, but i am not sure how tall the legs i need them to be .
Hi! We carry the Arrow sewing cabinets and cutting tables. The table shown here is the Millie Cutting Table. You can find all the information about their products on their website. We love their products! Thanks for watching!
you did a great job for a small space but I have to tell you as an experienced sewer and quilter I do not know anyone that would want a carpet in that room. it would be a nightmare to have to vaccum up threads all the time. much better to have linolium or something else.
Every sewing room needs some sewing furniture, right? Check them out in this video we made!

I have a tornviken Island ftom Ikea as my cutting table. Great height and I covered it completely with a cutting matt.
Sounds perfect! Thanks so much for watching!
It looks great but where is your stash? Your material, rulers, batting, etc. The STUFF that makes the sewing room com alive?
🙃😉😂😂

Great job Teancum.. I might have to stop at Ikea and check out those box shelves you have up top. Thanks!🤗
Might need too!

😒😊😊🥰
First time I've seen you. Subscribed now! Thanks.
We are glad to have you!
I would not have a rug in the room. Chair won't move as easily. Love the rest of it 🤩
A lot of people have said the same 😂😂 We are so glad you like the room ❤🙌 Happy sewing!
I love it!! I have a very tiny space as well. Love your ideas!!
🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful! Now I have an idea for my small room.
👍👍

👍👍😊
I need this lol 😂 great job honestly! I hope to finish saving up for new machine soon! But might need this stuff to lol 😂
😊😊😊
Ok this is a sign, now I need a sewing room.
😂😂😂
the obe thing every sewing or crafting room should have: the ikea pegboard
👍👍👍💕💕💕
I need a place for my vinyl and interfacing. They are on rolls. Doesn't look like it'll fit in this room. Turned out nice. I would like to see it full. Where would you place certain items? Thread? Fabric? Notions? Tools? Thanks for the ideas.
It's a work in progress
2:42 what’s the name of the cutting table? I saw the price displayed but not the description.
For anyone else interested, it is the Millie Cutting and Ironing Table by Arrow Sewing

Great thinking! Thanks for watching!

love the room, but where is the fabric storage
🤔🤔🤔
I think all my fabric might fit into that space.🤣
🙃🤔😉
As i love the ikea for existing sewing room?
🤔🤔🤔👍💕
Where do you store all your fabrics 😉
Where ever you have an empty spot, if you are like most of us 😂😂😂😂
Thank you
Thanks for watching
I like the ideas, my room might be even smaller though because of the two full size windows and the hot water heater can't be covered up completely 🤣
🤨🤨🥰
Tell us about the cutting table!
🤔🤔💕😍
Is the room 5 by 7 or 9 by 7
It's 9x7. Sorry if it was difficult to hear! We hope you enjoyed the video!
u can outfit a sewing room for 1/2 that cost.. Ikea is a sewing rooms best friend
they want to sell the furniture and then there is also a sewing Maschine included in the price
Thanks for watching~
I LOVE my Juki TL2010Q
I love Juki as well
Gray does not cast color on fabric.
Good to know
A rug on the floor of a seeing room is a bad idea. It catches pins, thread, and stops rolling chairs from rolling.
Good thinking!! We're always happy to hear everyone's ideas 😀 🙌 💖 Thanks for watching!
GREY walls/floor IS NOT MY JAM🤢. Love the IKEA products and rest.🥰 Where is storage for fabric/thread?
🤔🤔🤔😉

Great tip! Thanks for watching!
I am short so pull down cabinet .
👍👍😊
Sewing areas shouldn't have carpet or rugs. They're harder to keep clean and pins get stuck in them.
Great tip! Thanks so much for watching!💕🙌😊
