- On today's episode I will be demonstrating how to install the cajun bandit door latch.
As well as providing my initial review and thoughts on the Cajun Bandit door.
Full Disclosure I purchased the door on my own.
Cajun Bandit Door Latch instructions
The assembly was very easy and only took 5min or less. It comes with 7 parts including the door.
The one I am assembling is for a WSM 18.5 as you can see in the video. It's pretty straightforward. Just be sure to line up your threads properly.
Cajun Bandit Door Review
The door quality is amazing, you can truly feel the difference in weight from the stock version. The latch provided is much more sold and you can tell is built to last.
When placing mine on the Weber Smokey Mountain the fit was perfect, the seal was amazing as well.
Once I latched the door I saw no gaps between the door and the smoker.
Overall I am 100% satisfied with the Cajun Bandit Door for my WSM. I feel with this and other aftermarket products I will be having great cooks without losing smoke.

Thanks for the instructional video. It was quick and really helpful (I lost my diagram)
Glad it helped
I have it and I love it . Although I have go be honest as I also added a lavalock gasket and had enough left for the original door and it sealed it pretty good too so if you don't want to change the door and want a cheap and easy alternative just use some gasket . I do prefer the CB door as it looks more premium if you acre about that.
I agree it has a premium look. I was going to ad gasket but the fit was so good I let it go. I did add gasket to the lid and that made a huge difference
I never knew their was an issue with the door on the wsm's glad you got it fixed up.
Yeah its more ot an annoyance I hate wasting fuel. I did my first cook with the new door today and man it was nice having no leaks.
Thanks mate, got mine with no instructions so big help!
No problem glad I could help
Thank you for the detailed way to put it together as well as the review and impressions. This was a great video !!!
Thank you, I tried my best to explain.
I love mine! I have it for my 22 wsm. One thing I did with mine is added a gasket around the door. I get very very little smoke coming out of there now. This door is a great investment.
Great video of setting it up though!
Thanks man I was gonna add gasket but I did a cook today and to my surprise no leaks . I did add gasket to the top lid area and man that made a huge difference.
Thanks for checking out the video friend
@@BackyardSmoke614 Yah,i am sure it works great without the gasket on the door.... I just had some spare gasket when I did the lid portion and figured why not...especially since it was nice and clean lol
Nice review my dude!
Will look into these whenever I decide to get a Smokey Mountain haha
Man you should you won't regret it, They are always on FB marketplace. I just picked up one for my dad last week
Looks like a good replacement for the WSM door !
It is, my only gripe is I did not do it sooner. Lol
I did a few more mods this weekend, I love this smoker.
@@BackyardSmoke614 Weber should just go ahead and buy their design and use it as an OEM
@@crBudgetWatches i agree
Nice video
Thank You :)
Thanks for the video! How is the door holding up? Would adding a gasket be necessary?
Your welcome, The door is still holding up well to this day zero issues. No gasket needed.
I just got this door, the door won't close when I put on my wsm 18. Very annoyed right now
They state what at times it may not be a perfect fit. I would use a 1gal buck and form the lid around it. I here from others that will do the trick.
Thinking about getting a wsm 22 or an Oklahoma joe, which would you prefer?
I have a wsm 18 and Oklahoma Joe Highland. And plan on getting an Oklahoma Joe bronco as well. I love the WSM for price and the quality.
The wsm can do everything the Bronco can do. But the bronco does not have the water pan so if you big into that feature WSM for the win.
The bronco is great the pro is 22in at $700. The best thing is that it come with a ton of accessories and is ready to rock out the box.
So honestly you can't to wrong just comes down to price. You can't go wrong no matter the route
I love both but decided for the WSM due to portability and I can even use it in Death Star Mode for beach trips (aka using the lower section with the grate as a portable grill.)
