You should do a video series on “5 best products to use for ______ skin types” oily, dry, acne prone, combination, etc. and be specific in recommending actual products and linking them
Thought I would share some of the skincare mistakes I’ve made and that I’ve seen others consistently make. We all do it! It’s just a matter of stopping once we know. 👍
Yes and this aspect of beauty is rarely addressed. Also, most products are not biodegradable and the synthetic chemicals end up in the oceans, lakes and streams after it goes down the sink.
Makeup wipes are like hand sanitizer to me. it does the job until you can reach the sink and do a thorough job. It can't replace real cleansing. does micellar water really clean your skin or is it a gimmick? I'm in love with all things Korean now in skin care (blame my drama fever addiction). I opt for fewer steps and I like it. I need basic simple effective skin care. I have a drugstore budget so I get the best I can afford I just need it to work. Keep this up Susan learning a lot.
I thought for sure that #5 was going to be not using sunscreen. All those serums are for nothing if you don't use your daily sunscreen! Thanks for the great video. I way over use those darn wipes.
I never use daily sunscreen. I stay in a room with no sun, and I cover up when I go out except for 100+ SPF on my face in large quantities. I'm so pale it's almost scary lol
Melissa Sanchez she did a Walmart one! I took some of the teccomandations and use the Lilly Ann retinol cream at night she recommended. Bomb healthy skin on a budget 👌
Thank you for this. I would love a video that discusses proper way to treat oily skin. A lot of UA-cam videos really focus on dry skin, because it's been hard to find advice to treat oily skin.
3:03 I started using a hyaluronic acid serum a few weeks ago and you're right: serums are key. No matter how much moisturizer I used to layer on in the past, it never hydrated like a serum. And yes, 5:46, talk to your doctor about your skincare if you're planning to be pregnant or are pregnant. Great advice!
After years of being a face wipe addict I've finally gotten it out of my bathroom. I keep some for on the go only lol. It's soo easy to over do it! I use an oil or micellar water to remove makeup and always a second cleanse. Skin is so much happier 🙏
Gosh, I just love skin care! I love these kinds of videos and really pay attention to them. The key to making your makeup look flawless is to take care of your skin, FIRST. I just introduced liquid glycerin to my routine and my skin loves it. I keep a spray bottle with watered-down glycerin in my shower and spray myself down before I get out of the shower. It goes on my body, face and hair. I feel like it boosts my regular moisturizer throughout the day without feeling heavy! Loooove it!
Frühlingsblume My ratio right now is 1 part glycerin : 3 parts water. I try to spray after every shower, but sometimes I forget. If I forget, I just add a small amount of the glycerin to my regular moisturizer and it works fine. I really love it and so does my skin ☺️
Hi! Have a question - so...is skin “purging” a myth or reality? If so, how can you tell if your skin is “purging” in a positive way, or if a new skincare product is just not for you? Thanks!
Hey! I known I’m not Susan but I can answer this, as someone who has done pretty extensive skincare research and seen a dermatologist- yes, skincare products can cause purging, but only a couple types. AHAs, BHAs, and retinol/vitamin A derivatives tend to be the only products that actually cause purging, as they will cause previously existing pimples to surface by removing the uppermost layer of the skin. Other products- cleansers (without any acid or actives), moisturizers, essences, etc should not cause purging, and if you do see a negative reaction, you may be having a reaction to an ingredient. Hope this helped!
@@IqraArshadBeauty Hey I'm even later but usually purging happens in places where you normally get pimples. So if that's the case it could be inflamation/pimples surfacing but if it's in places where you usually don't break out it could be a reaction.
I never realized how bad makeup wipes are for your skin! I use to use them all the time and then stopped about a year ago because I noticed they were the reason for my breakouts. At the time I thought my skin was just sensitive to the makeup wipe, but after hearing you explain why they’re so bad for your skin, my situation totally makes more sense! If I hadn’t stopped using makeup wipes before, I definitely would’ve stopped after watching this☺️ thank you!
Such a great video! So many wipes (also many brands of micellar water) contain surfactants and cleansing agents like disodium cocoamphodiacetate that should never be left on the skin and need to be rinsed off the skin making the use of them often times completely useless. Am so glad to hear how alcohol is in several that are not good for skin and also many contain fragrance which also in many cases shouldn’t be left on the skin. Really enjoyed the first skincare video and this one!
Hi! I have a video with my makeup artist Nikki La Rose where we show you how to create my go-to look. Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/NeuGqOSAyAI/v-deo.html
I highly suggest the Derma E Hydrating Micellar Cleansing Wipes! They are biodegrade-able & no toxic ingredients! I agree with her, definitely not for everyday or for cleansing but it’s an amazing wipe for after the gym or on set as she spoke about. 🌎💛
ATearea Boggan I’m not a professional but you can use vitamin c during the daytime and retinol at nightime or alternate them every night but do NOT use them together at the same time. For hyaluronic acid, you can use it together with vitamin c or retinol safely.
Such a great video! I use neutrogena wipes every day and now I’m going to start. My skin is so bad right now (worst in about 10+ years) and my instincts jumped to buy different serums and oil to combat it but now realizing that I’m switching to so much different products that I don’t know what’s working for me anymore. Thank you for setting me straight!
How often would it be OK to use makeup wipes, or when would it be OK to do it? (taking into consideration you're not pulling when using it and you're just using it to skip the oil based cleanser but you're actually going to do the gentle cleanser afterwards)
no wonder i always have a dry leads to flacky skin after using makeup wipe once in a while... not using it anymore now, so not good for my skin seriously... thanks for the video...
can you do a video that shows the correct order to put serums? i have a couple and i'm always scared i'm using them in the wrong order, or i'm using them in the wrong order for my entire routine.
I knew it!!! The Neurogenic wipes (purple pack) ALWAYS cause breakouts and increased hyperpigmentation for me! I thought I was delusional but you’ve confirmed my suspicions. THANK YOU. 🙏🏾😌❤️
Omg yes finally. I didn’t understand the hype about wipes at all and when I tried it it just felt so rough on my skin that I just stopped. Honestly a balm or a lip eye remover is the way to go
What's your judgment on sheet masks? I feel like they help me get in some concentrated moisture, especially during really stressful weeks, but some doctors I've spoken to say that they're usually a scam and that there really isn't a variety to them like they're advertized.
What disturbs me the most is seeing people on Instagram using jade rollers like they’re painting a wall. They’re just teaching others how to do it wrong too. Think I’ll be getting rid of my wipes, thank you so much for this video xxx
Hi! Do I use oil on top of moisturizer or visa versa? I've heard differing advice on this so not sure what's best (I use squalane oil at night and do not know if it goes on last on top of my night cream or not) Thank you!
I have dry to sensitive skin and that has made me stay of the face wipes, because my face reacted to them immediately. Sometimes you just have to listen to your skin to make the better choices.
I love these skin care videos !! Susan your seriously a saint! Thanks to you I invested in my skin care and tried some Korean products to and let me tell you, my skin has never looked better I went from acne and texture to a baby’s butt smooth and I get so many compliments on my makeup now! Like you said it starts with good skin, so Thank you for educating me!!! 💕💕💕
This is awesome . Honestly I used to over cleanse my skin with super foamy cleansers until my skin was just done. It took me a while to pay for the damage of over Cleansing and using harsh stripping cleansers and even Clarisonic 😱. So maybe you can talk about Cleansing. Coz I really feel like it’s where the problem starts when it comes to making your skincare routine work. 🙏🏼
Serums with BHA (salicylic acid) tend to be great for acne-prone skin, especially oily acne-prone skin. Paula’s Choice has one, Cosrx, and the ordinary all have BHA serums. I would also recommend, as BHA can be harsh/drying, using a niacinamide serum or in general one that promotes healing and hydration.
What about make up removers you put on a cotton pad to wipe off make up? Is that also considered a make up wipe? How do you know if you’re tugging too hard?
ive always been against wipes bc of the alcohol, but i just learned so much more! you are amazing!! i thought i knew so much but i have been learning so much from this series!
I definitely make some of these mistakes. Especially the use of makeup remover wipes daily. Recently a couple products caused a terrible allergic reaction on my skin, so I switched to just coconut oil as oil cleansing method. Made my skin freak out and more dry. Any suggestions on what to use for first cleanse?
Makeup wipes are EVIL. I strictly use them for wiping if I’m swatching something. I will say though that I did find a brand of facial towelettes that I really do like for emergency purposes - Rooted Beauty.
@SusanYara what should we use instead of makeup wipes, if the goal is not to pull the skin and expose the skin to harsh chemicals.if I use a cleansing oil or balm how do I wipe it off? 😊😊
Should I get makeup wipes? I’m between Clinique or neutrogena which one is better. I have normal to dry skin. Sensitive as well. I would only use 1 per use.
Is there any difference between face oils and serums? Or just the consistency? I use a combination of oils (rose hip, jojoba oil and tea tree oil) as serum. Is that ok?
Serums are a super concetrated concoction of ingredients (ex: oils) and have very specific benefits. Oils on the other hand have vague benefits and are really just for overall nourishment but what youre doing my combining oils is perfectly fine as long as its not irritating! I hope this was helpful!
Could you do a video on the steps on applying different products for a skincare regime. I always feel like applying another product on top of a previous one smudges it together and spreads it everywhere :(
I only use makeup wipes on the days that I wear makeup lol, and then I cleanse wash and everything. i try not to tug hard at my skin but may possible forget sometimes. honestly don’t remember. do you think it’s still causing inflammation/hyperpigmentation?? I’m open to anyone’s opinion lol.
I use Pond's Cold Cream, then the makeup wipe , and finally Cetaphil cleanser with my Clarisonic brush. I do this because I wear long wearing/full coverage foundation.
Hello I am a new follower and skin care fanatic. I was wondering if you have already made a dedicated video about the different exfoliators and what they actually do to and for your skin. I am scared of the chemical ones or the chemical peels, could you elaborate why those exist. Loving the videos so much, they are so informative. Xoxo
What is the best serum for acne prone skin?? And I love watching your skin care. And now I can say I use AHA and salicylic acid, sudden I got so many acne back on my face 😩😩😩😩
Loved this video and I agree with the make up wipe! I am curious if you have thoughts on the ‘exfoliating’ wipe from Sephora? I find them to be really abrasive. I may use one every other week. Thanks!!
1:45 would that apply to toilet wipes as well? Like would people who wipe their butts with them get cancer down there in the future? Why do we stop using them once we become potty trained? And then again when we're older? Like is it safe to be putting those preservatives all up in there
Yaya! Such a great video! I’m sharing this with everyone I know!! Quick question- is retinol considered a serum? What products are considered a serum? Might seem obvious but I really would like to know! Thanks!
After you break your makeup down how do you remove it? Seriously wondering because I use Kleenex or makeup wipes with my balm but I don’t like either one. 🤷♀️ then I use a gentle cleanser after.
Hi susan! I traid everything to remove my sun spot of my face and right now I use vitamin c truskin , resveratrol and hyaluronic acid from the ordinary and moisturizer cream from neostrata during the day and in the night 2 times for week I use retinol 1% from the ordinary and one day glycolic acid peeling solution from the ordinary and the buffet too. and the rest of the night burt bees brightening toner and the serum from dark spots and then moisturizer that brightens from Kiehl's. I don't know if it is to much. I have normal skin I am 42 years old, and my skin is very good, but the sun spots don't go away. thank you for all you videos!!! kisses lucila
Wow I had no idea with the wipes...from now on, I'm only using them to fix tiny smudges and mistakes while I'm putting makeup on. I get paid in a few days, and the first thing I'm doing is going out and getting a nice oil! I just really hope I don't breakout, but I will absolutely take your word and give it a try. I've definitely noticed my skin change, and I've been using the damn Neutrogena ones for YEARS!😭
What about if i put bioderma on a cotton pad to gently wipe away makeup before my double cleanse?? I like to get all my makeup off before I go in with my oil cleanser! I’m concerned about the the rubbing you say is an issue😬
Can you please make a video on the different methods to remove make-up? Unfortunately, I use wipes and I have used micellar water but it caused me to break out. It would be really helpful to know other ways to remove makeup that cause the least amount or no damage to the skin. Thank you.
Could you talk about products that like.. peel or ball up on your skin when being mixed with others? I know some product ingredients don't mix together so I'm being careful with mine but are there certain ingredients that just won't work at all together? Hope that makes sense lol
Agreed with you mostly exp for cleansing... I have oily combination skin. For me, I triple cleanse... First is oil makeup remover, second is facial cleanser with spinning brush (Clarisonic) and lastly only facial cleanser to remove d last traces of 'dirty oil'. Feels so clean and fresh after that lol! Not dry... After that follow by d rest of skincare regime.
I stopped using makeup wipes 2 years ago and started using cleansing balms which actually melt the makeup and a makeup eraser. I made this change mostly for environmental reasons (think of all the one time use wipes sitting in the land fill currently), but it ended up really helping my skin be more balanced!
What would you recommend instead of a makeup wipe after working out? I workout outside Monday - Friday and I have no time to rush home to cleanse. So I makeup wipe it. What other alternatives would you recommend?
Hi Susan, love your channel especially gives honest opinions... Need your help... I have combination acne around chin n cheek.. I'm using Dennis gross.. Cleanser toner, ferulic retinal Serum n the universal peel... Is combination OK to use.....
I’m so confused with the whole sunscreen thing! Does your moisturizer have to have spf in them or does the sunscreen have to be separate thing that you put on? Also, I use micellar water and I’m looking at the comments and people are saying it’s bad too. So what can you use to remove makeup?
I think you should look at Burt’s bees sensitive skin wipes ( cucumber one) !! Neutragena ones are so terrible and so break me out personally. But wow Burt’s bees wipes ! I use the wipes lightly, no need to scrub your face and I follow with a regular wash and wow my acne prone skin!
Sometimes I will only do my eyelashes and brows and I’ll use a makeup wipe to remove that since it’s quicker and less messy than my cleansing balm, then do my normal cleanser but never ever on my skin!
love love your videos.. and on point view. Can you please share serums for morning and evening time in addition to how to choose serums based on different skin types?
What an excellent video!! You say to stick with a routine for 6-weeks. But, at 45, I'm trying to get rid of a teeny bit of hyperpigmentation, want to keep the skin hydrated, and want to use my anti-aging products. How do you suggest I go about this? I feel like if I just focus one one issue, too much time will pass, and the other issues will be neglected. Can you help? I bet you can!
I use coconut oil to dissolve my makeup (actually just sunscreen and a little power). Then I use my makeup wipe to wipe the oil. It’s done in literally 5sec. Then I wash my face with a cleanser. It can’t be that bad, right?
I'm curious about your thoughts on the effects of using a new skincare routine. For example: Switching to new skincare product or even makeup product caused a breakout. Even in someone who has a good routine. Do you think there is an adjustment period?
Edar Raluca I really like Mario Badescu’s anti acne serum. I’m on my second bottle of it. I get hormonal cystic acne. It’s the only product I’ve found that seems to help the most. I also have really sensitive skin and it doesn’t irritate me at all. ;)
Rae Cass thank you! I have hormonal acne as well due to PCOS condition, I ve been trying to focus on simple skincare cleansing, toner and moisturiser and I ve been prescribed Epiduo last month, at the moment my skin is crazy
You should do a video series on “5 best products to use for ______ skin types” oily, dry, acne prone, combination, etc. and be specific in recommending actual products and linking them
Great idea, and maybe - in addition to products - also habits 👍
Yes yes yes!!
Yes plz
yes!!
Can you do a video of your favourite serums for different skin types? Would love some recommendations! ♥️
I love these videos!
I would like that too! Since serum seems so important
Yes please!
Same please!
Can you do a video recommending serums for popular skin issues (hyperpigmentation, acne, hydration, etc.)?
Vitamin C serum helps with that :)
Thought I would share some of the skincare mistakes I’ve made and that I’ve seen others consistently make. We all do it! It’s just a matter of stopping once we know. 👍
Is charcoal wipes not good for the skin? I use them only in the mornings.
What are your thoughts on sleeping/overnight masks? 🤔 Xx
@@shabnas3803 Susan has said that you should never sleep with a mask on ! In the influencer vídeo !
Do you think that reusable cotton pads are harsh on the skin? I want to reduce my waste but I also hope it doesn't cause damage to my skin
What about using makeup wipes on sweaty skin after the gym?? I use them every day so the sweat doesn't sit on my skin for the next two hours.
And make-up wipes are horrible for the environment!
ilikegreenbras especially the new individually packaged ones!! Hello plastic

Do affordable skincare products for us college students out there :)

I hope this was helpful!
great video! ditching my makeup wipes now. any suggestions for an oil cleanser for someone with acne prone skin?
Xoxo
Hi! I have a video on my personal channel all about exfoliators :) ua-cam.com/video/i7ywVLiAYXM/v-deo.html
I have combination acne prone skin, what serum would you recommend?
Thanks!
Please do a video all about serums and how to pick one!!
OhMyWord08 it sounds like your products are just pilling. You want to make sure you’re applying your products from thinnest to thickest consistency.
do you have any recommendations for hyperpigmentation? I haven’t had an active breakout in awhile, but I do have some acne scarring on my cheek
Hi Sammy! I have a video on acne scarring here: ua-cam.com/video/qNeh2BpFHFE/v-deo.html ❤️
Very Helpful Thank You For This!
So what can you use to remove makeup?
serums for hyperpigmented, sensitive, n dark spots skins, pls
How would you recommend removing your makeup on the go? For example, getting out of work, going straight to the gym...
Can you do a video about dark circles and how to improve them
love love your videos.. and on point view.
Can you share a skincare regimen for antiging please. I have oily skin but no acne. Share products and links.
@Susan I am 20 years old right now, do I need a serum?
Which are the best accessible oil cleansers? How is the Mac oil make up remover?
Hi, what serums do you recommend for combination acne prone skin? Have a nice day💛
Edar Raluca I really like Mario Badescu’s anti acne serum.
Edar Raluca I live with PCOS, too. It can be such a frustrating, heartbreaking condition. 💜
How do you feel about miscellany cleansing waters with a cotton pad? Is that just as irritating as a makeup wipe?
