To the people in the comments saying that Calvin is too rough be quiet and observe because it's obvious that every time Calvin is a being rough either Jared or Ellie will correct him whether they are moving him or telling him to be soft and gentle. Stop telling people what to do just because we watch 10-15 minutes of their life doesn't give us the right to teach them how to parent.

Look I know Calvin was just really excited! But that poor puppy is so scared. Obviously she's just been brought into a new environment she's not familiar with and having children scream and act rough with her, is making me very nervous. I got a yellow lab around the same age as Jackson, my younger brother was the same as Calvin and my parents had to make sure whenever my brother was patting him that he wasn't gripping onto his skin, which is what calvin is doing. Please watch him, its not going to help make this dog become comfortable if he's scared all the time.

My dog passed away recently and seeing Penny just melts my heart. She is so cute and beautiful. I can't wait to see her grow up and interact with the kids. Welcome to the family Penny!

seeing your little boys hugging your new puppy just brought me to tears, growing up my grandperants had a dog named amber, they got her when i was a baby so i grew up with her untill she passed away just over a year ago. she was the sweetest, kindest most caring dog ever. right from the time i was independent enough to move around i would lay on the floor and just hug her and she got so used to it, she actually loved it when i would just lay on the floor next to her.

Why are there so many critical people in the comments? I know the dog is scared and the kids are all over her but she's going to be fine. She's a dog and they're two little kids who are obviously excited about this new addition to their family. I've known plenty of dogs who have been tugged around by kids. They're completely fine and grow strong bonds with them almost immediately. Ellie and Jared know what they're doing; they've both owned labs and grew up with them. Please stop acting like you're a parenting and dog expert and let them enjoy this obviously jubilant time in their life.

This video absolutely made my day. My 10 year old dog passed away 6 weeks ago unexpectedly and it is still so hard knowing he isn't here. Knowing I will be getting a new puppy very soon and watching this video and seeing how much Penny relates to my dog is incredible. It brought me to tears. Ellie and Jared I wish you all the best on this new adventure and can't wait to see Penny grow up with your amazing boys as a part of your family!

With all the comments out there critiquing your choices I just wanted to say that I think getting a puppy was a good decision. When Calvin would hug her too tight or was on top of her you were always there to help teach him how to be gentle with her. Kids need that kind of hands on parenting in their lives. When I have kids I can only hope I am as good a parent as you two are. I love your videos. My cousins go to Utah State and so they live up in Logan and I love visiting up them because it's so beautiful up there! Your house also looks amazing. You guys are great role models. 🙂

And people really need to relax, you need to be a little rough with puppies/dogs. All of our 4 dogs have been treated like that from day 1 and out of every dog we know, ours has the best personalities and are the best with children. I wish people would stop being so sensitive
