my 1st 3 day trip on my mariner, i sat up on the stern. back was killing me. these seats look way more comfortable. was thinking of mounting one to a cooler.🍻
@MrFredsDIY i mean a seat with backrest mounted to cooler. i saw others do similar things. thats kind of my idea at least. i just love being inspired to customize these boats. really appreciate your insight. 🍻
Hi Fred! I'm only a year behind on this DIY, but still excited to put it together. I do have one question. The swivel plates we bought through your link, seem to be locked in place and will not budge. Since both plates are having the same issue, I'm not sure if there is some sort of locking pin, etc, or if something could be wrong with both plates. Any help with this is appreciated!
When I purchased these swivels, they were very stiff, but after I bolted them to the seats and the pedestals, they operated just fine. Have you mounted them yet?
I had considered issuing bolts and larger fender washers which would probably work. The steel plate design stays in place and makes assembly easier. A plywood plate would also work,
These seats are comfortable and stable! What are your Theon the mounting plate design? Let me know below ⤵️

That’s not a bad idea, but I’m afraid the cooler would move and you won’t be able to lean back.

Think the swivel ability addition also relieves some pressure on the mounting bolts to the floor 👍🏻
Absolutely! A fixed position would put stress on the entire mounting.
@@MrFredsDIY What is the size of the floor board? Width and length. Thanks for your reply.

@@MrFredsDIY No. Not yet. It's on my weekend to-do list. Crossing my fingers because we can't budge them at all. Thanks for the advice!
Could you have used plywood with lockout for plate and screws ?? Would it been liter ??

Honestly, I would have avoided the plate on the bottom. Just run carriage bolts up through the floor. Already smooth heads.
Damn i don't have a welding machine
It’s not really necessary. Bolts with large fender washers would do the trick with or without the steel plate. Thanks for watching!
Only 1 issue where you putting the fish
I like where your head is at!!! I’d use a cooler or live basket with this boat.
Buy a spearfishing stringer, can clip on to the side of your boat and keep the fish for you.
