People were so skeptical and ready to hate on this movie when it was coming out because the original was such a classic. But you can't deny that this one just works. And it's so funny and well written while still respecting the concept of the original story. The perfect way to change it up while still keeping enough the same. You definitely should check out the original, first, and then the sequel to this one. It's all just good fun, and Robin Williams in the first one is amazing.
Definitely recommend checking out the original! Great film and still holds up very well. It's not a required watch before seeing this by any means, but there are a lot of call backs to it in this one.
The original movie with Robin Williams was very, very loved in my family, so when the trailers for this one came out I hated the whole idea. Then I heard it wasn't a remake, it was a sequel, and it had Jack Black and the Rock in it, so I decided to give it a shot. And I really enjoyed the whole thing, especially Jack Black playing a teen girl! It's a worthy sequel to the classic original.
I wasn't going to see this cause I was skeptical. But my cousin wanted to see it for his birthday so I went. Loved every second. I wasn't expecting it to be as funny as it is.
The more reactions I watch the more I realize this: Alex discards the game with: "Who plays board games anymore?" That night, the game "responds" by creating the video game version of itself. The drums sound to lure him, and just like that, he sees the game cartridge and pops it in. And yes, the movie is SO fun! Jack Black really does sell it.
18:50 The elephant statue is what Robin Williams character used in the original Jumanji game 21:18 it's a shelter Robin Williams character made when he was stuck in the board game from the original Jumanji movie. So in a way this was a sequel to Jumanji
Jack Black was EXCELLENT in this. I really loved this movie, I saw it in theaters with my oldest niece and my mom and we all loved it. Everyone was shitting on it when the previews came out because the original is pretty beloved and has a lot of nostalgia going for it but I love that the new one put an entirely new spin on it. Overall just a great fun movie to enjoy with your family.
I was positively surprised by this movie. Was very sceptical because I'm a huge original Jumanji fan. But it was amazing...especially Jack Black. :D However, I think, you should have watched the original movie before, even if it's not required.
This movie had so many great one liners and the sequel to it is just as good. I loved the nod to Robin Williams character both in the name carved into the tree and the elephant piece as that was Alan’s piece in the original game. 6:49 technically the mosquito is the most dangerous animal, hippos just surprise people because they are herbivorous and look like they should be really slow. 7:27 I’d want to be Ruby, having all those fighting skills would be great. I do wish Martha had shown interest in gym more afterwards, because then she could learn some of those fight moves in real life. Now the ending when they smash the game, they were in the clothes when they were in detention. So, when they heard the drums it was days after.
Everytime I watch that movie I am always a bit sad in the end, because Bethany and Alex had such a good connection - even if he naming his daughter after her is so lovely. Anyway nice reaction! 😊 you should really check out the original. It gives you are more in depth look where the game is coming from. Will you do a reaction to Jumanji - next level as well? This is also so much fun to watch.
The song during the “dance fighting” is my cousins band “Big Mountain”. Their cover of Peter framptons “Baby I Love Your Way” was used on a movie soundtrack in 1994 and got them a lot of radio airplay. They are a reggae band and that cover is nothing like the rest of their music but still very much their style. Check ‘em out if you feel like it lol I very much enjoyed your reaction
The scene with Karen and the snake is surely an homage to Doctor Who where Amy Pond's first appearance was face to face with the snake-like Prisoner Zero..... with a side of "Don't Blink," referencing her final encounter with the Weeping Angels....
Jack Black deserves some sort of award for his performance in this film. Even if it's just part of a lifetime achievement award or something, dude COMPLETELY sells the character.😂
Like a lot of people, I was surprised by how well this came out as we all know how remakes today pretty much suck. Jack Black was super funny but my favorite is Karen Gillan since all I knew of her prior to this was her as Nebula so, major shift there. Great reaction!
This isn’t a remake, it is a sequel. As for Karen Gillan yeah she is well known as Nebula but anyone that has followed her career knew she was capable of this type of thing due to a legendary British show she was on for a few years, Doctor Who
@@andrewft31 you are correct about it being a sequal, my bad. Just have remake ptsd at this point, lol and I've never been a huge fan of Doctor Who...don't come for me XD
I think that’s what made this movie with the fact that you had big-time actors playing opposite personality of what they are normally are. Also Jack Black as Bethany with all the awkward gender moments. LOL! I really recommend the movie Zathura; it’s an indirect sequel in which the game is set in outer space.
If you enjoyed this you should definitely check out Zathura, it is super similar to both Jumanji movies, directed by Jon Favreau and stars Josh Hutcherson, Dax Shepard, Kristen Stewart and Tim Robbins
That one was underrated. Got flak for being too similar yet too different to the original Jumanji but just in space. But it's still simply a fun adventure just like Jumanji. And it makes sense, as they're both based on books by the same author.
Yes! Zathura was amazing! And one of the reasons I never gave any credence to ppl saying Kristen Stewart can't act. She can but if the director gives flat then that's what she gives. BUT Zathura was awesome and it was really nice to see the same author given great showings by multiple directos
I don't know if you ever saw the original Jumanji movie with Robin Williams, but it was a similar concept, he got stuck in the jungle for decades as well. In Seaplane's house you see his name scribbled there (in this movie)
You definitely should react to the original Jumanji. But as a fan and lover of Jumanji growing up, I did enjoy these new Jumanji movies as well. The heart is still there and they had fun with it. Also, Jack Black as a teenage girl really is the best part of this movie. xD
Yeah you have to watch the original, the CGI is definitely not aged well, but it's a fun family movie. Or at least my memory of it is, and we all know how failible memory is, so up to you. Another fun review! Thanks!
Great movie as a follow-up to Robin William's Original JUMANJI. All the characters were awesome, but Jack Black (Bethany) was amazing. The next movie is great also. Just some input there. Thanks for sharing with us.
Was about to ask if you saw #1 but then read the comments; yeah this is actually Jumanji 2, the first one is from 1995 and features Robin Williams, please go back and watch that before viewing the sequel to this one, you don't have to, but it will fill in a lot of plot...
I would recommend watching the first one. It doesn't carry as comedic a tone throughout as this one did, but it is a great movie, plus Robin Williams. This movie though, Jack Black was the perfect casting, he's such a goofball and I love it. Great reaction!
i read an interesting theory that Nigel may not be an NPC but possibly the creator of the game cause when fridge says he thinks his name is moose not mouse, Nigel responds and idk if he was programmed to respond to a misread of a name.
You: "Gym class was the best part of school." In my high school, we had to run a mile everyday before the actual class. It was worse in bad weather because we just ran around the gym 30 times.
You really should’ve watched the original first. Because this technically is a sequel. They reference the first movie in this one in a surprisingly touching, but very short tribute. And without seeing the first one, you missed the gravity of that tribute in this one. Because the tribute is not only for the first Jumanji movie, but it’s for Robin Williams as well. I was very much against this movie while they were making it. I thought it was just another money grab for a recycled concept of a project that did well in the past. But they actually did a tremendously great job with this movie. I’m glad you liked it too! 💙💙💙
The first film was so good I put off watching this for a long time as I did not expect much . I did enjoy this ,helped by the cast it was a good take on the story but nowhere near as good as the first one. Also Zathura (a space version of Jumanji ) is worth a watch.

One more recommendation to watch the original Jumanji with Robin Williams. There's another movie, Zathura, which is an Outer Space board game gone awry...
I'm actually with Martha. Gym class was never my favorite subject. To the point where I took a Grade 10 Phys-Ed class for summer school so I wouldn't have to do it for the rest of my high school years.

Nick Jonas trying to get into acting? Nah bro Jonas L.A was massive on Disney in the 2000s. And it was very good! He was in night at the museum, careful what you wish for and a bunch others. Him and the other Jonas brothers were also in camp rock. He's been acting since the beginning of his career

I've only found jack black funny in tropic thunder... other than that,he seems to try way too hard at being funny, resulting in a weak, wannabe version of jim carry.
Wait... you didnt see the original????!!! 🤦♂️ tERRIBLE
Good movie but the original is still the best.
You need to watch the original with Robin Williams. It's a classic.
Crazyness. I didn't know any of that. I've reacted to his music a lot over on my music channel, but I didn't know he acted as well. Pretty cool.
@@NewfieMovieReactions Jonas la is a strange one bc I actually quite liked it but not many have seen it, or atleast remember it 🤣 Also I've been hoping someone would watch Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton in Red Sparrow but no one's watch it on YT so I'd love to see you watch it. It's a spy thriller
