- Prince William and Kate Middleton live happily with their three children, dividing their time between two different homes. For the most part, they reside in their apartment located at Kensington Palace. But they truly feel at home when they are relaxing in their Norfolk country mansion. Indeed, if it were up to them, that might be the place they’d prefer to call home, however, their apartment in Kensington Palace is not only safe, but close to their kids’ schools. So what could be the problem then? This is why Kate and William are unhappy with their Kensington Palace home.

@@masquarra Rather short sighted of you. Although I couldn't find more up to date numbers showing cost v. generated revenue this article from 2019 show the royal family brought in a net profit of 430M pounds, or $556M, mostly in tourism.
I mean--it isn't like people are showing up for the weather.
That is very kind of the family to share their children more with the Queen. At her age, every moment counts and will help with the loss of her husband. Also they will gain the extra space as the family needs.

Both Catherine's parents in Berkshire, and the Queen in Windsor are close by, and with a good chance that George will go to Eton, this just makes sense. Cambridges would have offices at Windsor Castle, and travel up to London when needed. Better for security too...imo.

I'm a single woman of 72 and through no fault of my own I can't seem to be able to secure a flat or sheltered housing to live in due to beaurocracy in the u.k. I left ROI just before Xmas ( where I was born an raised and came to to the U. K. Where I lived for 19 years in the same apartment in Epsom Surrey . But it doesn't seem to help me and doesn't seem to count for anything. I'd give anything to get a senior citizens accommodation back on Epsom to be near my sister as I have no other family here. , but I would I be over the moon o get an offer of something from EPSOM & EWELL BOROUGH COUNCIL AS I ALWAYS CONSIDERED EPSOM MY HOME FROM HOME.
I wish I could get a Senior Citizens flat in Epsom where I lived for 20 years so I have no luck and I'm 73 now alone and am extremely worried .
I don't believe they are unhappy at KP. It just makes more sense with their children getting older, them taking on more royal duties, and the Queen aging, that they are closer to their parents and grandparents.

Titles like this are a shame! What makes you put a title to cause people at first to think negatively? They are not "unhappy." They are thinking of the best advantage for Duchess Catherine's family and Her Gracious Majesty Queen Elizabeth, not to mention a place away from the hustle and bustle of the city for the children. It is a good choice all around!

The Queen wanted them to be nearer to her and also nearer to the Middletons, who give great help to William and Catherine when they are undertaking Royal Duties and more so now that they will be doing the overseas tours as well also nearer to Prince George when he's at Eton College.its all being plan ned out in advance. they will also be nearer to Edward and Sophie . This has been on the cards for some considerable time. it old news.Fort Belvedere is still privately owned by the royal family, so it's not open to the public, however you can enjoy one of the gorgeous lakeside walks adjacent to the house in Virginia Water. it has been leased for many years the last person to live there is now deceased. so now available.

The house itself isn't cramped, it's living in London that is cramped. You can have a huge penthouse in NYC and still feel cramped bc of the location. They want to live in the country where they are not treated like animals in a zoo by the media circus.

I am so very glad that Prince William married the love of his life, Katerine Middleton. I do not care that she was not royalty before. What I care about is that Prince William and Kate are happy together. She is a wonderful woman, she is gorgeous "look wise and much more" These two look so much in love, you can tell that they make a wonderful couple, Kate is the ideal for her loving husband Prince William. They might not be the next Royal to be on the throne of the UK, Charles will be with Camila, yet this couple Prince William and Duchess Kate will be on the Throne of the UK after his father. They represent in my mind what the next UK Royalty will and shall be, a loving couple who I think will bring much more who the Royalty will be in the next generations to be.

Because it's free and has a huge park on the grounds .They are nearer family and haven't the hustle and bustle of city which means less security needed .As Windsor castle has guards twenty four seven and it cuts down the costs .Which has been the way Charles has looked to cut back on the expenses ,I would think .Also a short commute into London if it's needed .Building of a modern house would require extra money being spent ,not the pledge that Charles said he would do when he becomes king .

The royal family costs British tax payers £1 each annually and brings in exponentially more into the economy with tourism. They also donate millions to their patronages.

There is no date shown for this video, and maybe I am wrong, but the kids seem to be quite young here, younger than I am thinking they would be now. So, I am not so sure this video is current, plus the family is likely fine wherever they are staying. These 2 haven't been attacked in the British press as had been Harry and Meghan.
I am commenting as I watch the Video, so I MUST admit that as THIS video progresses, the kids are being shown as they have grown more mature.
Now this Norfolk Country mansion had been a gift from the Queen upon their wedding in 2011, so, REALLY, I doubt that the Queen is going to see them choosing to reside there more often than Kensington palace as a problem at ALL.
Really, I would think that the Queen would be happy that they would choose to reside in the country estate home which she had given them for their wedding. Kensington palace would be a place where I THINK the paparazzi would be trying to get pics of the kids and Will and Kate frequently.
The Queen has a good head on her shoulders, and so do William and Kate, nobody wants to be raising these young Royals in the spotlight having photogs able to take pics of them now when they are still babies. And, Wills and Kate should NOT have to be "ON" all of the time, we all need some privacy.

The Queen should kick Andrew & Fergie out of Royal Lodge and let the Cambridges live there. Royal Lodge was the Queen Mither’s Windsor residence and is truly worthy of a former Queen (the Queen Mother) and, therefore, is worthy of the future King & Queen. It is a disgrace that Andrew is allowed to continue to live there. There is also Frogmore Manor (not to be confused with Frogmore Cottage) which is a remarkable residence fit for a future king & family.

Cramped? With all those rooms? I understand wanting to be in the countryside - pity we don't all get a free house, a free apartment in a palace plus loads more privileges! Okay, so the Queen is planning on moving to Windsor castle now that she has been said to have moved out of Buckingham palace? I've actually been to Windsor castle before in 2001. It was in March, before all hell broke loose in Sept 11th, 2001. It was a nice experience, I wished that we would have spent more time seeing the town and the actual land around the castle. But, really I am not sure that we could have seen much of the property. And, back then it had been when the "mad cow disease" breakout had been in full swing. Even though in Windsor's acreage, NO cattle had been grazing or even there. I REALLY wanted to see "Chillingham castle" which had been nowhere near Windsor by the way. My friend and I went a good distance to get to the castle and THEN, a fence had been there to stop us from getting up to the castle. And THEN a sign said how the Chillingham castle had been closed because of the fact that cattle had been so close to the castle who MAY have been infected with Mad cow disease. We did see some castles when we had been in the UK, BUT the Chillingham castle WOULD have been the BEST think ever.
