- A Brooklyn lawyer admits he's guilty of loving military history. As CBS2's Lisa Rozner reported, his law offices are like museums, with his collection of thousands of Civil War military figurines. So along with legal advice, his clients can take a trip back in time.
My uncle had a cabinet full of toy civil war soldiers in an office in his home. I would sit and stare and imagine the battle scenes. I didn’t dare touch them. Rules of the house...
@The Time Traveler - They are also called "military miniatures".
@The Time Traveler Model soldiers, defo no toy!
How much for 10 union soldiers????
It's even better when you realize there about 20-30 dollars a piece
the world was once very odd and some for over 100 a piece
the world was once very odd
Good quality ones are at least 45 dollars.
He's a lawyer, he can afford them.
I wish I had some lol I cant afford it
There made out of lead
What an impressive collection. He is such a great lawyer. My family has used his firm for 3 generations.
My family uses lawyers from Sri Lanka
@@criztu lol 😁
Nice
I received my first Civil War set when I was 5, all plastic and all one color. My dad loved the Civil War and had toy soldiers when he was young. Over the years, I added more figures to my collection. Britains LTD, I think, were painted and about $1.75 each when I was young, 1970-80's. A few hurricanes tried to claim them over the years, but I saved them fortunately. I became a teacher of American History and still continue my collection. I painted all my plastic ones very nicely, and I have about $7,500 of the ones made of pewter like this gentleman. I am very proud of my plastic and pewter figures and devised some rules similar to Games Workshop's Warhammer games using dice to simulate battles with my son. Hopefully I will have a grandson or two to continue. My dad would always get down on the floor and we would set up battles against each other. He always won, lol. Great memories. I wish dad was still around to beat me at another battle again. Thanks for that first set dad.
I have display cabinets full myself. Started as a child. They were played with and abused and disposed of when l “grew up”. As an adult, having learned better, l started again. The collection will last as long as l do. 👍🏻
WOW! That's wonderful. What a commitment! Incredible collection and fantastic displays. I can almost hear the 'Battle Hymn of the Republic' in the background.
Toy soldiers. They are such a unique toy and model.
THEY ARE FIGURINES !!!!
Rick (From pawn stars): I really like the figurines you got, the best I can do is five bucks and not a penny more.
Stop sending them to Sri Lanka, there are perfectly good commission painters here in the States that will give you a bulk/returning customer deal.
sri lanka is probably cheaper lol
@@tyrian_baal it depends on who you go with.
Sri Lanka do a much better job...and a bit cheaper..the quality is amazing
@@t75green17 Painters are great worldwide.Have you seen the Gamesworkshop paintings andairbrushing? Its amazing!
Yeah hearing that I thought that is kind of odd. Where is the efficacy, I mean seriously what do the people of Sri Lanka know or care about are history. Leave the paint job to Americans That have a genuine care for accuracy and detail.
Thumbs up to this guy for his strong dedication of knowing history
Glad there are so many of us who colect figures, toy soldiers and other interesting things...
Where can you buy toys like that? Ill wait for your reply thank you
@@jerimiahserrano4176 online just google civil war miniatures
I collect Toy Soldiers too. You end up doing quite a bit of research and aquiring quite the library to go along with it. That's an awesome collection I can appreciate the effort and expense to put it together.
You can reach me at 2017 Hewitt av Cincinnati Ohio 45207 513-908-0109
I have a lot of them toy soldiers.
To each their own I personally love 1/6th scale figures, have always been impressed with these though. The amount of detail that one puts in something so tiny is amazing!
What scale were these in the video?
Damm the last time I saw Greg heffleys dads collection I don't remember it being this big!
A very worthy pursuit.. My people call something like this a wonderment
They are not toy's ,
THEY ARE FIGURINES !!!!!
(Diary of a wimpy kid 😂)
It’s not an diary it’s my memoirs
I'm guessing this man appreciates Indian in the Cupboard. We should start a Kickstarter to get him one of those cupboards.
get me one too!!
that movie was my fav as a child
I like soldiers too, I like the fact you like real history and not fantasy. I have a large collection of toy soldiers and their all based on real life people. I have American civil war figures, British WWI, Japanese WWII, American Vietnam soldiers, Modern day Israeli troops, Ancient Roman and Persian soldiers, Knights, Native Americans, Russian WWII, Canadian, N Korean figurines, German WWII and some old aluminium antique figurines too.
He would never get close to $300,000 for those figures. That would only be his asking price.
It's not about the money. It's for the love of it
The meda spun it to seem overvalued but he probably told them "they're worth 300,000" because that includes a commissioned painter per figure.
Yeah you re right
He d get more
If he lived in NY city he could go court for over estimating the price of his collection. Lol
I love toy fig-a-reans.
Would like to see a longer, more detailed video of this collection. Amazing.
The quality of this is amazing.
A beautiful collection. I am a huge toy soldier fan.
Those things are expensive!!
Like $40 each.
Impressive ... good to learn and visualize what actually happened
They are fun to collect, but it's more fun to paint them yourself 😎
10,000 miniatures? That's nothing. I have more than that un-built and waiting to be painted. ;)
Seriously, A big salute to a man after my own heart.
me too for Warhammer 40,000. I have close to 20000 miniatures. He didn't even paint and assemble those :P
We call that the "gray army". It's the image of figures primed for painting, but sitting on the bench, in boxes, etc, waiting to get painted.
You grow up you become adult your voice your personality change a lot but your hobby don't need to change
Awsome collection love the hobbie
The collection is impressive and the displays are awesome! I have around 100 old lead civil war soldiers, all handpainted and beautiful. It is more fun than it should be to set the little guys up in different ways 😅. This guy has the touch though, those battle scenes are definitely worthy of any museum. Id pay to check out this collection any day!
It's just so childish to collect figurines like this.
BUT I WANT THEM AAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!
Fantastic collection keeping American history vital, great stuff
Holy shit this is one of the coolest things i have ever seen
Now imagine him making a WW1 diorama that shit would be big and filled with figures
Next : WWI, WWII, Coldwar soldiers toy. Then his collection completely done
He had a few WWII ones
Honestly its sooooooo therapeutic to paint them
thats just a awesome collection ..would have loved it when i was a little kid hours of play time
This is Gregs dad after he left the family
Lmaooooo I'm dying
Very cool. I collect mostly Napoleonic figurines; great hobby.
Me too!
I have a lot of them toy soldiers for sale you can call me at 5139080109
Where do you get them
What a great man to appreciate history! Hopefully he got a plant to consolidate the different pieces into a museum as a retirement challenge.
$300,000 for toy soldiers. He’s clearly overcharging his clients.
lol
I don't think they would mind if the money was going to these sets
Interesting military collectibles. Fascinating history behind them. I’ve collected a bunch of figures and replica items over the years. The research or giving them to others as gifts is just as fun !
This is actually pretty cool
He’s living my childhood dream
🇮🇪👍. Me 2💕
I collect military miniatures as well.i especially like the old Marx Warriors of the World figures that came out in the sixties.
Me too.
Great Models "Only a Lawyer can afford these"
I'm fine with my green toy soldiers with green vehicles and stuff.
What a wonderful priceless collection .
He needs to get those out of the cupboard and onto a gaming table. They should be veterans of many dice rolls by now.
Now that's a hobby!
Great. A lawyer
I used to cast and paint Civil War soldiers for chess sets, then I worked for a guy who made only China Marines. It took a long time to make a buck.
This is how they should teach history, using toy soldiers for battle recreations
This is a Happy man
I need these all
Sgtlott 10 So Needy lol
Ah yes, the Irish brigade. Amazing 👍🇮🇪
The Fighting Irish .!!!!
the child he ones was is very proud, i am too
I am collecting but painting myself my figurines . I do prefer 54mm and 60mm napoleonic figures . I am also a lawyer but maybe I will bring some pieces at my office. I have painted only one acw figurine . It is a zouave from Imrie-Risley . It was fun to paint
In the 1975 movie “Three Days of the Condor”, we see how the ultra professional hitman, played by Max Von Sydow, relaxes when he is not busy in the world of espionage and assassination. He paints Napoleonic miniatures whilst listening to classical music. It is a wonderful hobby, open to all.
@@henrywarnell7694 Yep, a Napoleonic hussar from Stadden.
I reckon his collection is probably closer to a Mill Dollars.
What’s the next big thing:civil war lronclads
I logged in just to like this
I believe those shown in the first segment were produced by a company in England. If you remember Kbee? or a name similar as I can't remember like that 20 years ago at the local mall, they use to stock them but you had to order them if you wanted more selection. I had some from the Napoleonic wars. Really cool.
Fabulous collection. I have about 400 Civil War pieces, which I started at Gettysburg 18 years ago, and 500 from other eras. If I was a successful lawyer, I would buy more than I do.
Where did you buy your toys?
Ill wait for your reply thabk you
I bought my first pieces in Gettysburg in late 2000 in a store that used to be called The American History Bookstore. It is still there with a different name. My main dealer now is Treefrog Treasures, but I have bought from Hobby Bunker, Michigan Toy Soldiers, Sierra Toy Soldiers, and many from Ebay. The best brands these days for matte Civil War figures are W. Britain, First Legion, and John Jenkins Designs.
@@danwoodliefphotography871 im from the philippines i hope they have branches here
@@jerimiahserrano4176 There may be someone selling toy soldiers in a big city. It may be extremely hard to get American Civil War figures there. I suggest trying Ebay. King and Country Toy Soldiers makes a lot of World War II and other periods. They are based in Hong Kong and also have dealers in Australia. You might get better shipping rates through those locations.
It's impressive...right up until the bit when you hear he just buys them. Big deal. He might as well have just flashed $300,000 in front of us.
And I’m stuck with 50 cheap plastic toy soldiers.
Im stuck with 10000000
This guy rocks
Ima start collect ING these figurines
This man is amazing, I only own four cheap 4cm Soldiers
Where can you buy this toys? Please reply... Thankyou
Jerimiah Serrano amazon or eBay 1/35 scale (name of war) models
@@joemama8808 thank you so much
Jerimiah Serrano np
Jerimiah Serrano you can also find them in many hobby lobbies and Michael’s
I don’t care what the price is i need them all
That's so cool I play a game called War of Right and I am part of a regiment called the 20th of Maine and it would be cool to have little battles all around my room like that.
It would be amazing to see what those toys do when Andy goes away
Gather dust most likely.
Sends them to Sri Lanka to be painted?? Plenty of amazing figurine painters right here in the US.
Wonderful.
It was gift from soldiers, to safe people.on even date, or many would have loss life.
You lucky lucky man!. What I, d give to have that lot!!!!!!
And I thought I spent too much on this hobby.
He goes to Sri Lanka for his comb-over.
I have the Lord of the Rings collection figurines like that so cool
Did the 14th Brooklyn fight at Brawner's Farm?
I am envious.
tres belle collection
I bought all the generals in the civil war. It’s so cool
Where can you buy this toys?
I used to have these soldiers collection but its all gone now.
king&country,figarti, first legion ,collect showcase
Some Frontline, too, including many of the buildings he uses as backdrops.
You’re ashamed of your collection when you’re calling toy soldiers, figurines 😂 C’mon dude, don’t let the reporter turn you into a “figurine” collector!!! Embrace the toy soldier in you!
Awesome
I have a lot of them for sale toy soldiers
I notice that the battle of Schrute farm is noticeably absent. How convenient.
@david edbrooke-coffin what do you mean why?
@david edbrooke-coffin because the battle of schrute farms was a northernmost battle the civil war Gettysburg usually gets credit for it but it was in fact the Battle of schrute farms
@david edbrooke-coffin It's a joke from the Office TV series
Me as a adult be like:
Frank Hefley: 😏😳
So right
Expensive hobby but it's worth it!🇬🇷
Where is this collection today!!??!?
tell he finds warhammer 40k
My son is W. H. painter and collector great hobby
He didn't paint them himself, right?
mo, he said he sends them to sri lanka-
These are no match for my 2000 points of Warhammer 40K Tyranids.
This is awsome.
splendida collezione
I've hand painted a set of soldiers somewhat similar to that, it gets tedious after a while.
So damn cool
Très intéressant ce sont des morceaux d’histoire qu’il faut préserver
I’d be more impressed if he actually painted them himself. My grandfather actually has a similar collection in size in variance and he painted nearly everything himself
I cast and paint my own, and also collect and paint castings and kit figures, so I can appreciate what you mean. But there is a large segment of the hobby that consists of people who collect commercially-made toy soldiers. Many of those collectors prepare displays that are a cut above something like standing them in a cabinet, yet perhaps not as detailed as a formal diorama made by a figure painter. It's still interesting to see them.
@@theBaron0530 very true, the collection is still impressive nonetheless
They didn’t mention wether or not he ever served in the military. Seems like a pretty important piece of journalism to have asked in my opinion.
Mike was an MP stationed in Germany in the 1970's.
Why? That's totally irrelevant.
How is that relevant? Only veterans can collect toy soldiers?
