Hi guys, this is my retired Fil/Can Dad's first hand experience being admitted to a Hospital here in the Philippines. Can anyone clarify if DSWD covers the cost of hospital admission (for those who qualify) and do they cover both private and public hospitals.
If your father has dual citizenship, he is entitled to Philhealth benefits. Under the Expanded Senior Citizen Act or RA 10645, all senior citizens aged 60 and above automatically become PhilHealth members even if they didn’t pay for monthly contributions. If I’m not mistaken, Philhealth will cover 40% of hospitalization expenses. I don’t think he’s covered by DSWD. DSWD benefits are for the indigents.
Thank you for the honest rating of your dad to his hospital experience in PhL... sobra under rated ang sinasabi ng mga iba about sa hospital natin sa pinas nakakasakit lang... Porke third world country ang pinas at least kulang man sa gamit yun Ibang hospital iba pa din ang tlc or tender loving care ng mga kababayan natin na nurses....Be healthy daddy Yow!
Yes, seniors should be aware of the newly created govt charity umbrella organization called "MALASAKIT" , a one stop center you can apply for benefits available from funds coming from DSWD, PCSO , philhealth, PHIC, fom Presidential Special Fund, and other agencies.
Nice to hear about your dad's good review of our health care there in Nueva Ecija. I guess we need better equipped hospitals to level with our top-notch healthcare workers. Our hc workers also deserve better salary and benefit package.
Nice to know that your dad is akready well. Our health care workers here in the philippines are the best. I guess it is in our culture to really love and take care of our elderly parents and grandparents ❤❤❤beautiful new home😊
it is Sad and Sickening for someone who just finished building a new house worth 6M pesos and qualifies for full DSWD financial help towards hospital bill is Disgusting. this government DSWD financial help is for poor and indigent people which your dad is Not. for someone to qualify as a senior with little or no income and just finished building a 6M pesos house is a dishonest person. its disgusting, knowing that canada has old age pension. Sad
Ang rule ay yung anak niya ang nagpatayo ng bahay ibig sabihin e di yung pasyente yung nagpatayo e senior nga. senior and NOT EARNING INCOME ika. saka may universal health law. DSWD saw there is nothing wrong so why are you upset. Di naman kailangang gusgusin at mukhang pulubi yung senior bago maging qualified.
Wow, I didn’t know there was such a thing as DSWD assistance for the elderly with no income. My dad recently had surgery and the only deductions we got were the meager Philhealth and senior citizen discount and then I had to shoulder the rest. 😢😭 But he did stay in a private hospital in Manila. I wish all public hospitals in PH would provide the same level of care as what your dad experienced! Anyway, I hope your dad is recovering well, Lan ❤
I guess there are hospitals in the Philippines that treat you as humans and there are those that treat patients like stupid. Wish it is like in the west where we can see how many stars they have so we go to the 5 star level . Find the best hospital to go to before getting sick.
Good thing, your Dad is Well and good now after 2 weeks of confinement. Getting admitted to a hospital in the Philippines is not that bad compared to getting admitted to a hospital in the US. My wife was admitted in Emergency room due to a fall and hurt her hip. She stayed in the hospital in East Bay California for approximately 12 hours undergoing Xray and other test. The findings were okey with no fructure. The shocking news was when we got the hospitalization bill which amounted to almost 25k dollars, good thing her insurance foot the bill. Imagine, if you don’t have insurance, you’ll probably die sooner than die due to your ailment.
..there have been great improvements in health care benefits especially for seniors. Hope the govt continue to expand the health benefits for all filipinos
20% senior citizen discount….. 20% philhealth benefits…. 60% DSWD indigent patient benefit. How on earth does he get qualified as “indigent” when they just finished building a 6 million pesos house in Nueva Ecija.???
Same question here. Happy for dad na okay na, pero yun mga kakabayan natin na mahirap na hirap na hirap mag lakad ng tulong sa dswd, pero sila na May kakayahan with a 6mil na bahay na kakatayo lang it means you guys have enough money to cover the 60%. Just saying lang
@@joyminia1..there is now an umbrella charitable center known as "MALASAKIT". The center is one-stop center where people can apply for financial assistance ehich in turn will be forwarded to vsrious charitable organizations and govt agencies such as DSWD , PCSO, PHIC, Special Presidential Fund , and other charities. Seniors are given priroties I guess, but all hospital patients need to be proactive in their research for financial assistance .
How did you get all those discounts..did your parents qualified all those thing,,since they are FIL_CAN citizen,,are they DUAL CITIZEN,,ordinary pinoy citizen they dont have that medical benefits,,and not a single penny coming out from your parents pocket..WOW a big bologna,,

Does your father have Philhealth?

By the way, I would suggest that you inquire about Private Health Insurance. Some expats are talking about it on their YT channels.
Phil health only covers 20 %.
@@iMeMyself60..age 73 makakakuha pa kaya ng coverage? If ever siguro di na affordable

Hello ingat kayo sa biyahe papuntNg La Union
dapat ibuhos ang malaking budget sa healthcare. hindi sa sobrang dami ng building na kumakain ng malawak na lupain kaya sobra na traffic.
nice view
I had open heart surgery here in the US and my favorite nurses were Filipino - WW

Where in NE ? My interest is bigger lot in a subdivision since they may prohibit trash burning .
Its good to have savings. I thought the insurance would cover everything, but had to pay Php200k+ out of pocket.
Pwede po mag ask yung 6m po ba as fully furnished na yung bahay

Any options for senior regarding medical insurance?
