London Buses Winter 1992

- These scenes of buses in London were taken by Fred Ivey during the Winter of 1992 , a time of transition in bus operation in the capital. Most routes were still operated by London Buses but those that had been contracted out were obvious as there was , at that stage, no restrictions on liveries.
Fred filmed mainly in the Wood Green area featuring Grey Green on rotes 141 and 298, City Bus on route 123. He travelled to South East London to film RMs on route 36B and an RT on route 75 during the last week of conductors in London. He also visited Victoria Bus Station complete with roof, and Moorgate , Finsbury Square, where many routes terminated, a hang over from trolleybus days.
How I would love to go back in time.
I never took much notice at the time but now they have gone I really miss London Transport, conducters and Routmasters. Dont even get me started on the Railways..
I love the old buses.i remember the 1960s.😩
My dad was a bus driver for Midland Red in Worcester & we both love watching these videos.
Thanks for sharing :)
Ahhh the good old days good veriety of buses and so much character
Lovely to see Victoria bus station as it was. Miss that little Italian cafe along from the arcade.
Definitely colder back then,,,,
People lived and worked well at the times without smartphones.
Left the buses in '92 to do more coach work Just as the company got taken over for the second time in as many years. Rarely had an Atlantean where the brakes didn't screech. SNBs were an absolute pleasure to drive. At that time semi autos (doubles) were slowly being replaced by fully auto. London Country became Luton and District (uniform change) and then Arriva. Happy days and some amazing, hilarious memories, stories.
Great memories of the throwback of the Old Buses Video
I drove these buses in the eighties from Tottenham bus garage 73 to Hammersmith 76 to Victoria 171 to Forest Hill 243 to Holborn 41 to the Archway great to see all these places again
The years are just numbers it's the ageing process that makes it seem all those years ago

This reminds me of the days when I used to moan about how much better the old days were.
Butler!!....Get that bus aaaht!!!
I was born in 92, making me feel old!
Such a creative period of time from the 70s right through until the late 90s and since then. Every bus looks the same, Wrightbus carrying on some weird traditions but I miss proper engines
Great video, many thanks!
Wonderful to see Titans invading Metrobus territory. Until the late 80's the T's were allocated on the east side of the Lea Valley, M's on the West with only a handful of routes taking those allocations over the border. I lived deep in Titanland in Barking and rarely saw the exotic, very different-sounding Metrobuses.
@ 6:42 those monstrous east lancs rebodies of volvo coaches. Absolutely grotesque!
