Good stuff and thanks hanks for bringing ED’s attention to all these finer details. Guys like you pushing for perfection really helps get us the most immersive experience possible.
Also the whole E-J thing. Special logic is used in the jettison of fuel tanks to lessen the possibility of collision on release. If there are no stores at sta 3/7 a normal release is performed. If there are stores at 3/7 the MMC checks for fuel tanks at 4/6. A normal release is performed if there are no fuel tanks. If there are fuel tanks at 4/6 the release of the fuel tank at sta 6 is delayed 150 milliseconds. So essentially the "1 second" delay is coming from having to check at 4 and 6 for fuel tanks. So try again but with fuel tanks on 4 and 6. If you have a tank on 5 a normal jett is performed through the MMC.
@@BogeyDope yeah no problem. I only remember this cuz of the jett checks we have to do when fuel tanks get thrown on. The delay is noticeable when you depress the pickle button and at around a second the light on our test equipement turns on. But when we do the test on 3/7 the light turns on instantly when the pickle button is depressed. It is cool to see these littel details being added.

The moment you looked up at the canopy and said I want to check something I immediately said HOOKS! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is bugged by that. Great video as always. You know I was talking with a pilot during an exercise after I recovered him. He's a major and accidentally "committed" fratricide. JTAC (I think) told him about opposing aircraft gave him rough heading and altitude. He picked them up on his FCR and "fired" his AMRAAM. Turns out it was one of the A-10s he was supposed to defend. He was PISSED! He said you know that's my second time in nearly 1000 hours of flying the Viper I've "committed" fratricide the first time was when he only had about 50 hours. (I'm over at Osan with the 36th BTW)
Yikes! That sucks. I'll bet that's some paperwork and a briefing that he has to do now to the whole squadron. I thought I heard C.W. Hey dude, first off, awesome rundown of all the changes. Very helpful for us visual learners out there. Second, how do you edit the right file to get your Bogey Dope across the the top of the ICP??
To be honest, I would *much* rather have no JFS door animation, no canopy lock hook animation, and no gun purge door animation, in exchange for receiving corrected low-speed flight dynamics. How the aircraft PERFORMS is much more important to me than how the eye candy looks. Right now, either A) the aircraft generates WAY too much drag in moderate-to-high AOA flight, OR B ) the engine generates way too little thrust at lower airspeeds, OR C ) both A and B. The high-speed AOA and sustainable G was corrected a few updates back, so it performs beautifully above 450 knots, but the aircraft still gets terribly bogged down at any airspeed below around 350 knots, and struggles to gain any airspeed whatsoever unless the AOA is completely unloaded (as in, a forward bunt of the stick, not just relaxing back pressure!)
In this video, I'm just reviewing the changelog items, not critiquing the sim. I would have to do a different video on "critiquing" the simulation to go over that kind of thing, but I wouldn't be able to really say much since I was never an F-16 pilot, so I can't speak to the accuracy of the flight model to the real life F-16. Honestly, I just have been adjusting my flying to each flight model change. I have no idea how it performs in real life, so I can't critique/complain.
@@BogeyDope I understand the purpose of the video, but that does not change the validity of my comment. I would prefer focus (for *every* module) be first on getting aircraft performance bugs fixed, *then* on getting workflow/ procedure/ avionics bugs fixed, and only after those are correct, to spend effort on graphics fixes. You might be someone who can answer this… I’ve always wondered where the classic f16 paint scheme comes from with the contrasting grey nose/body. Does this serve a purpose and why is the f16 the only jet that has had this?
Awesome review. One question, which texture to edit, so you can add a custom name on top of the ICP, like you have "Bogey Dope"? And if this editing passes IC for multiplayer? thx a lot.
I mean. . . they can, but we'll know. We always know. Data recordings/hud tapes. They have to turn them in after every flight. They can't keep too much from us.
on firing the amraam without radar, I do it every now and then but this is using boresight mode. If I can visually see a target and can't be bothered locking it up with the radar I just fire the amraam active off the rail.
Me as well, but if you're that close your radar wont be sending telemetry anyways, because you're at pitbull range. The fix is for telemetry being sent even with radar off. This would be a BVR situation and is just funny that someone must have tried to send an AMRAAM without radar from a range where Telemetry would be needed.
As far as launching with no radar, isn't that the point behind the F-15EX as a missile truck? Hurl Deltas from them with cold radars using GPS and Data link to get them to pitbull distance on bandits the drivers (who launched the AMRAAMs) will never see, not even on their own scopes. Much like the old Soviet GCI using their non-radar equipped interceptors, during the bad old days of the Cold War. F-22 and F-35 acting as aerial GCI/AWACs via datalink to the slaved missile truck jets. I'd imagine F-16 could be used the same way with little modification.
but can you still "bulldog" the aim120? What I mean by that is you can actually release an Aim120 with out the radar and the missile will lock on with its own radar?
MAD DOG yes! Yes you can. IF... you are within the range of the Amraam's internal radar. If you are beyond that, it's a gamble to see if it is able to acquire the target on its own when it gets closer if the target hasn't moved from the location you shot it towards. My comments on this are more for shooting at something 20miles away. Not really plausible without the radar sending telemetry to the 120 until it gets close enough to go pitbull and guide itself.
Forgive me, I think I’ve asked this before. I like the radio effect. How can I achieve this in recordings as you are doing here and in voice comms with a buddy in multiplayer? Thanks!
How are you finding the frames since 2.8 bogey? I've got a 3090 ti 5900x and all the rest but have found my frames are less than before but more consistent between ground and in the air getting about 85 to 95 avg
The failure to add something so simple animating those six canopy latches, in the proper airframe channel, makes my eye twitch every time I see it. "You had one job..." 🤮
Each has their strengths and weaknesses. I think it's more about what you want to get out of DCS. Aside from the differences in weapons systems and differences in aerodynamic capabilities, the 16 can only land at an airfield, never on a boat. The hornet can land on both. That seems to be a big deal breaker for some people. They want that carrier ops experience. Some people like me, don't really care too much about that aspect. So neither is "Better" than the other per-say. Different worlds. It's about what you want to get out of DCS.
This has quickly become my go to place whenever there is a Viper update. Thank you for the great videos.

@@MrHallTV i dont think its in pit
@@MrHallTV the viper doesn't have it yet
In the notes of this update, it says "New pilot model, after the new Hornet pilot model"... so.... soon.
Have you had the chance to test the new HMCS update they did yesterday? Doesnt seem to be working properly :(
As far as launching with no radar, isn't that the point behind the F-15EX as a missile truck? Hurl Deltas from them with cold radars using GPS and Data link to get them to pitbull distance on bandits the drivers (who launched the AMRAAMs) will never see, not even on their own scopes. Much like the old Soviet GCI using their non-radar equipped interceptors, during the bad old days of the Cold War. F-22 and F-35 acting as aerial GCI/AWACs via datalink to the slaved missile truck jets. I'd imagine F-16 could be used the same way with little modification.
Anyone else having trouble still with HMCS not creating Spi's?
As an F16 egress guy the hooks not moving has always annoyed me lol
DO you use a sound mod? SOunds great with closed canopy.
I was wondering that also. The stock sounds are more shrill than what I'm hearing in the video

but can you still "bulldog" the aim120?
Thanks!
I use voicemod for live voice effects
@@BogeyDope Thanks!
My VR performance has taken a huge hit since updating the drivers (Nvidia 526.86) on my 3080 ... DCS is now unplayable for me!
How are you finding the frames since 2.8 bogey? I've got a 3090 ti 5900x and all the rest but have found my frames are less than before but more consistent between ground and in the air getting about 85 to 95 avg
I guess what I'm asking is should I be getting more or is this pretty normal
Is the f16 playable now? what are the outstanding features still missing?
You have to share how you got the "radio voice" effect.

Are the sounds standard Eagle Dynamics viper Sounds or are your they DLC ones?

@@BogeyDope Thanks man! Love the content 🤘🏻
They stuck green fog and pumpkins on the runways etc... Yet the VR experience is horrible :/ just unreal
Where you get the outro music?
How can I put my nick on the cockpit? 😍
You have to edit the default cockpit textures in GIMP (Free photoshop). Then reformat the files with "NVidia Texture Tools Exporter" to BC7 format.
Did your f-16 bort numbers get messed this update
I have not had any bort number issues personally.
@@BogeyDope I might have to do the repair or something
The failure to add something so simple animating those six canopy latches, in the proper airframe channel, makes my eye twitch every time I see it. "You had one job..." 🤮
How do you get that voice effect?
Voicemod
Bogey F-18 OR F-16 in your opinion
Each has their strengths and weaknesses. I think it's more about what you want to get out of DCS. Aside from the differences in weapons systems and differences in aerodynamic capabilities, the 16 can only land at an airfield, never on a boat. The hornet can land on both. That seems to be a big deal breaker for some people. They want that carrier ops experience. Some people like me, don't really care too much about that aspect. So neither is "Better" than the other per-say. Different worlds. It's about what you want to get out of DCS.
@@BogeyDopethx
@@BogeyDope in terms of A/A witch is better?
I am not able to get 2.8 How do i get it? I feel stupid
If you are running the stable version, you won't be able to. You need to be running the Open Beta version in order to get 2.8
That is my problem
I have open-beta installed
@@sondrelima9982 if you go to the install folder. Navigate to /bin and look for the update.exe and run that. See if that works.
Ok thanks
Sorry for wasting your time.
@@sondrelima9982 No waste of time. Did that work?
This dude is on point. I share his vids on DCS Dogfighters discord. Thanks
Let me know when the viper gets any types of content for it. Whats it have one blueflag campaign?
Reflected Simulations has announced he will be adding the 16 to his Kola Map campaign when it comes out. - ua-cam.com/video/eQy0h72tgrE/v-deo.html
