Mate you have no idea how much this helps. A lot of other youtubers are too quick or really assume we have a bunch of knowledge about the aircraft. I'm transitioning from the F18 and this has really helped me start fresh and learn even more. Thank you!

Even the ingame trainning missions can be bad for that. They refer to the TMS as TMS in dialogue but to actually find the control listing isn’t Target Management Switch - TMS and is instead just Target Management switch.
I admittedly got tunnel vision trying to find the acronym so it took me much longer to figure out.
Thank you, BogeyDope. As mentioned repeatedly by so many others, this is absolutely everything us newer folks need. Especially those of us who are married and have kids and/or careers and can't spend hours studying. This has made my engagements much more enjoyable. Im a relative noob-about 9 months into DCS. I've figured out that with your help, why I struggle with the basics without fully understanding how to adjust the radar based on its limitations in regard to ease-and how simple it is once I understand how to adjust in the ever changing combat arena! Im 63 years old, and digitally challenged lol, im very analog. Your tutorials help so much-THANK YOU!!!!

Hi, I saw in another your video (DCS F16 FOX3) that locking on a red datalink track you were having squared yellow bugged target symbol (with yellow fullfilled rectangle behind it when amraam is in flight). Then, why in this situation you haven't yellow bigger symbols but they stay red datalink symbol?

This video was made a long time ago. They hadn't implemented that functionality into this module yet. The F-16 is still unfinished. Got a lot still coming.
@@BogeyDope what is going on radar if You push stick and plane start to dive? Radar antena will be keeping level or start to look down like fuselage axis?

I'm just starting out and bought the mig 29 because I've always thoughts it's a beautiful aircraft since I was a kid.
The radar and target altitude tracking on the hud is so much easier compared to the f16. When I dropped the coin and hopped into it, I instantly thought what have I done this is too complicated.
You've helped me get around that in a few minutes.

I'm trying to understand TWS tracking now. Jabbing at random TMS inputs until I get the desired effect isn't going to work long term 😂 I need to get it together.

A bit off topic; but does locking and shooting a fox 3 I'm situational awareness mode give the target a launch notification?
If you have a single tracked target lock (STT Lock), the target will get a launch warning. If you have a soft lock, the target will not receive a launch warning until the missile goes Pitbull. Check out my Fox 3 video here - ua-cam.com/video/bvKaEqYfn0M/v-deo.html
In the F16 SAM mode, I don’t think so, if you mean when you lock him up. When the missile goes active, he will get the warning.

Thanks for the video! Do you have any idea why the antenna elevation seems so random? Is there no way to configure it for i.e. a specific altitude range? I feel like i just need to scroll and hope the range works out. Additionally, like in your video, the range was up to something in the fifties. Which means you are pretty much scanning from 30-50 for no reason and therefore loosing scantime and/or precision.
I'm not sure I follow you here. What do you mean by "Why the antenna elevation seems so random?"
@BogeyDope if I move the antenna elevation with the button I don't get the feeling the antenna elevation moves in set increments (I.e. always + or - 5000ft but instead seemingly random jumps i.e. one second it is -A2 to +A30 and one jump up and it's A18 to A62.
@@_ircghost It sounds like the knob you are binding that to is a little sensitive. I had the same issue, and switched to a better roller on my throttle and got more granular control.

Great video, do u think that in DCS F16 has better radar than F18? Because it looks better implemented , Hornet`s radar is so bad in the DCS...

I thought tms right short was for lock on and target switch?
Sometime my TMS switch aft doesn't unlock the target, or it does but it puts it into narrow mode. So I have to go RWS - TWS - RWS to reset it. It does it in A2G mode aswel, I can't unlock a target I've designated through the pod. I've remapped TWS aft to different switches and it behaves the same way, does anyone else have this?

how do you identify the type of aircraft that is being locked on radar? i saw a vid a while ago where it showed "Mig29" in the bottom right corner of the FCR and i really want to use that feature
