Just cause they may not look the best on paper is no reason for people to be counting them out (same with the Brewers if I'm honest), like so many want after seeing Charlie Morton (who is getting older and honestly was much more hittable last year than in 2019) and Blake Snell (I still say he's inconsistent and a touch overrated, and regardless the Rays got a kings ransom of a return for him) leave.

Here’s the deal with the Giants. They know that this season belongs to LA and San Diego, what they are doing is biding their time for this season so that they will have their moment to strike for next season. They have expiring contracts after this season with Posey, Crawford, and Belt, amongst others. They also have a plethora of great young talent coming up in their farm system. Once those contracts do expire, they will have a lot of money to work with so that they can go after some big names in the next off-season. It’s actually an exciting time to be a Giants fan right now. They will at least stay competitive and entertaining this year with bigger things to come for next year.
@@strangelakers1079 absolutely! I admit I did have my doubts about him initially, but he’s definitely been proving me wrong. He isn’t clinging on to old veterans out of sympathy like previous Giants management has and is clearly looking to the future. The Giants will eventually have a dynasty in the making.
I'm a lifelong Cardinals fan, but Ichiro will always be my favorite player. He captivated my 10 year old mind, and the fact that he's still in uniform as I'm pushing 30 makes him the bellwether of this baseball fan's life.
I’m conflicted about the idea of the Braves winning. On the one hand, Freeman deserves one, talent and character wise. On the other hand, Acuna and Albies, while not bad people, are only on that team because the old GM took them illegally and was banned from the sport as a result. 2 of their biggest core names, undoubtedly that would taint the ring.
As a Phillies fan, it’s going to be Hell watching your team win the NL East year after year like in the 90s-mid 2000s. You better win more than one World Series with this core, unlike last time.
Yeah the division is still ours. We were a game from the WS last year and we only got better. The Mets will be a wildcard at best. I wish philly luck though I’m a Harper fan shockingly wish he wasn’t on a rival though lmao
@@vinnyschoell1646 yes I’m sure. I don’t see how we would get worse. Our weakness is the bullpen and our bullpen isn’t even bad. We get soroka back from an injury that wasn’t major for a pitcher and added Morton
No talk about A's signing Mitchy 2 Bags? Moreland gonna be huge at DH this year. Something KD wasn't able to do last two season. A's needed another power lefty bay outside of Olson and Moreland is that man.
As a guy who pays casual attention to the NBA, I have a relatively good feeling about the Rangers this year. I don’t think they’re making the playoffs, but they could finish third in the AL West. It’s the Angels from which I’m expecting pain.
"If we go by the Dumbrowski timeline, he will help them at least reach the World Series." 2022: Phillies vs Astros for the World Series I'm convinved at this point Tree is Nastrodaumus.
I was listening to 670 the score when they were talking about the White Sox getting a new coach, and then I heard who it was, and I spit out my coffee.
Coming from a football/hockey guy, (with next to 0 baseball knowledge or current interest) if they knocked the games down to 7 innings, got rid of human error calling balls/strikes, put in a salary cap, and shortened the season enough where it felt like every game actually mattered, I would get into baseball. I don't have any prebuilt bias towards tradition or the old ways, so from an outsider's perspective, that's what it would take for me to make it watchable.
To explain what the Giants are doing? Basically, they don’t have a lot of trade assets that teams might be willing to take on besides maybe Brandon Belt. Crawford and Posey have no-trade-clauses, Longo’s not good enough for what he’s being paid, same for Cueto, there’s no reason to trade them if you’re not going to get anything out of it, and the Giants aren’t looking for a salary dump because, well, they can afford all of it. And the player’s they’re adding? Only La Stella’s getting paid in 2022. Otherwise its a lot of reclamation projects on prove-it contracts, and yeah, if they do well, odds are they’ll be traded. Giants took in Pomeranz in 2019, helped him into becoming a lights-out reliever, and flipped him to the Brewers for Dubon, a young 2B/CF that could be a key part of the future. Look for them trying more things like that, but there’s no reason to do a tear-down if you’re not going to get anything for the tear-down.
@@UrinatingTree Solano, maybe, but that was probably a “there wasn’t a market for him” situation. Same with Yaz, more so with the cynicism that comes from suddenly-30-year-old-player-playing-like-an-MVP, plus the upside that, hey, if he’s really this good now? Sure, it’s only a few years of peak, but he’ll still be under team control when the Giants have the big guns in Luciano, Ramos, Bart, Hjelle, Wilson, and/or others. The problem the Giants have is that while they’ve got this huge bumper crop of prospects coming, most of them are legitimately not yet ready for the show. Giants are just in this place where they’re trying to put out a decent enough team to keep the fans interested until the kids actually are ready and the bad contracts are off the books so they can start spending big.
At least we have a bullpen this year that can hold games. Guys who have played real innings and gotten real outs. Hey, we had the 2nd most leads last year, behind only the Dodgers. Who knows?
It’s something new every year. We have such a talented roster but something always seems to prevent us from reaching our potential. We’re the Buffalo Sabres of baseball.
@@philly_sports1558I think the teams success will come down to three players. Eflin, Howard, and Bohm. Other players need to show up obviously, but these are the Wild Cards. The offense is potent, but whether it will be a top 5 offense will likely come down to Bohm and what kind of sophomore season he shows up with. With the bullpen addressed (enough) and Nola/Wheeler making onlookers sweat with tears, the 3-4-5 in the rotation looks to be the biggest question mark for the team. If Eflin can continue looking sneaky good (Girardi claims he thinks Ef could be as good as Nola and Wheeler this year. As a long time Eflin guy, I agree, and may say he’s basically sneaky there already) and Howard shake off last year, they could turn the rotation into a powerhouse as well, if that happens forget playoffs, this is a go the distance contender. If they don’t show up though, I’ll guess 85 wins, 3rd, maybe 2nd in division if Mets do Met things again, and miss the WC by at least 4 games.

As a Rays fan, glad to see you throwing them some respect here. Say what you will about the financial situation with them, it's just not right to ignore the fact that some way, some how, the FO has a knack for making the right move most of the time and the team consistently punches above their weight on the field.

Farhan is a really smart GM. He’s going to do what Friedman did for LA.
Tree sleeping on the Braves? World Series champions confirmed
Anybody other than the Dodgers would be nice
I’m conflicted about the idea of the Braves winning. On the one hand, Freeman deserves one, talent and character wise. On the other hand, Acuna and Albies, while not bad people, are only on that team because the old GM took them illegally and was banned from the sport as a result. 2 of their biggest core names, undoubtedly that would taint the ring.

I'm convinved at this point Tree is Nastrodaumus.
Don't forget the Josh Hader to the Padres rumor that happened that year, too.
10000% agree with this.
I figured you could get something for Yaz and Solano, but I guess I was wrong.

It’s something new every year. We have such a talented roster but something always seems to prevent us from reaching our potential. We’re the Buffalo Sabres of baseball.
@@philly_sports1558 and football

@@jasonmilly3320 Although it’s not 100%, the Cards do have a history of taking someone who has been slumping a bit and greatly elevating them.. and unfortunately usually wasting that. I can easily see Arenado growing into the slot. I love Waino but I’m afraid of his backup and injury history. And I love Yadi to death, but the age is showing..
