I wanted to come back and thank you. Also wanted to leave some advice for people attempting this in their driveway on jackstands and floor jacks which is what I did. It is a horrible idea. I raised one side up and secured it with multiple jackstands. I then spent about half a day fighting with rusted out O2 sensors that took serious force to take out. The flange bolts on mine were rusted as well. They snapped off in the middle and i had to drill them out at an awkward angle. Then when i finally had everything out, and the new one wrestled behind (on my back with barely enough room to breathe and move my arms, the replacement catalytic converter would not line up. It's hard to hammer in place when you can't swing due to space restrictions. I ended up using a pneumatic palm nailer and a piece of oak to convince the new cat to move in place. The flange at the bottom could be moved with a short crowbar. This is a job for people with a lift and equipment or at least ramps. I spent a total of about 8-10 hours over three days (not including the time spent pulling little rocks and metal chips out of my scalp).
Great demo. I've done this job before and it is really not that bad as long as you don't live in the salty places like the north or the coast. The only real difference I guess is I opted to just get the cat out without having to mess with the O2 sensors until he was on the ground. Dealer's choice...

I have a question my 2008 dodge grand caravan sxt 3.8L has a flashing engine light since 5 days ago my gas fuel has been expensive and I can smell gas and the van shakes a bit when starting. I looks like the catalytic converter has never been change or the oxygen sensors. The van is a 198,500 miles. What catalytic converter should I get?
