Nothing can beat the old Broadway musicals , the old movies, old singers and old songs of days gone by ! For those who got acquainted with them, those bygone times will remain forever in our hearts .
I couldn't agree more! The charm, the magic of the old classics are nearly gone now. The music offerings of John Wilson are genius. An old soul in these modern times
The John Wilson Orchestra is simply FABULOUS, I grew up with this era of movies. Movie theatre music has been surpassed by John Wilson and his Orchestra who have elevated it to the stratosphere 💫💫💫
From the days of the great Broadway musicals -- when one show would leave you with four or five outstanding tunes that gave you enormous pleasure whenever you heard or sang them. I'm afraid, kiddies, that today's musical output doesn't cut it. Not like in the "old days."
I Love John Wilson's orchestra, it is always absolutely OUTSTANDING, the richness, sound and and the quality of the orchestra is FOREVER spell binding, My Fair Lady is one of my favourite very best loved musicals of all time and will continue to be FOREVER part of musical history, The orchestration of this classy beautiful movie will FOREVER stand the test of time, and once again MR Wilson and his extraordinary SUPREMELY talented orchestra brings this magical movie back to life just love it, a great tribute to all those whose supreme talent made this beautiful movie FOREVER magical we will NEVER forget you, bravo Mr John Wilson you have done it again with your OUTSTANDING orchestra.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the John Wilson Orchestra is outstanding. This piece from "My Fair Lady" really shows off the talent and richness of this orchestra.
John Wilson Orchestra- You are the greatest!!! They are an Outstanding Orchestra in every way. To play scores from Hollywood( 20s-60s), you really have to have yourself well versed on all levels to handle this type of project. Absolutely job well done!!!
Just imagine sitting in the theater in 1956 and this is played during the original run and then Julie comes on stage as Eliza..i would literally give away anything to witness it ❤🙌
Just imagine sitting in a London theatre, looking forward to this wonderful piece of music - and then it is cut out entirely! This happened to me and I was rather disappointed... ;-( Can't think of any reason, why
SUCH A GREAT OVERTURE. ONE OF THE GREAT DIVINE ONES OF THE GOLDEN AGE#1 THE GOLDEN AGE # 2 IS THE SONDHEIM AGE. NUMBER #3 IS COMING UP NEXT. THE NEXT BROADWAY GOLDEN AGE.
The reason the BBC didn’t put it on the telly was that someone owns the rights to the show and wanted too many gazillions of pounds to allow it to be filmed.
That is, CBS.When the film was being made, it was released through Warner Bros. and Warners' copyright reversed back to CBS after about ten or 15 years time.
May I just remind you that in france too we pay some 200 euros each to watch television, add to that fees of your internet provider around 40 euros per month to get channel televisions on the net or your tv and this does not include channels like Mezzo, Brava etc.Id' like to remind the UK people and gvrt and that you are part of the EC, and this applies of course to all members of the Union. we should have between us a total access. This is culture what it's about. To hell with greedy producers!
ah the license fee discussion. . . the bbc is an arm of the nanny-state government here, telling us how to live, act and think; always finding new ways to get their hands in our pockets. as good as a few programs are, the bbc most often puts on sub-standard, amateur productions. thank god for john Wilson - he's almost worth the license fee.

They are the best musicians from classical and jazz backgrounds , all hand picked
theclassicso This Orchestra is Heavenly.. 🌙🙏🏼💥
John Wilson picks the best of the best musicians working in Britain. Most are leaders or principal players of top British orchestras

This is actually the version from the movie (supervised by Andre Previn). Both are marvelous, but listen to the theater version, too.
@@michaelbeattie4326 yes i have listened to the original...just heard this upload and left a comment....nothing beats the original 👌
your children must feel so loved
Un grand classique merveilleusement bien interprété.

Grande orquestra. Show. Música eterna
so beautiful
it reminds me always when me and my theater group played my fair lady
Hermosa orquesta y hermosa música. Ignorante es aquel que no reconoce el arte.
Beautiful Music 1980's
Amen to that.
I couldn't believe anyone actually used those pejoratives to characterize one of the finest musicals ever written.
I like this music very much!!!
I can sing every song!!!
Excelente
Sencillamente preciosa música 🎶
Why just the music? where's the video? Its more fun seeing him in action.
They were not allowed to film the Concert as they were refused TV Rights. it was only able to be broadcast on Radio 3
Hey DF Dalton, you're obviously doing some bad drugs. This performance is great.
shame the bbc wont be broadcasting it :/ thanks for uploading
It was on Radio 3, The TV rights were not available so they couldn't film it
hello
GREAT!
I have the original record from 1962
hi
This is not Previn orchestration, Sandy Courage used the original by Robert Russel Bennett & Philip J. Lang, do not make this mistake...
there's a half-step modulation up going into "I Could Have Danced All Night" that's def NOT Robert Russell Bennett's original.
From 0:35 Robert Franklyn is the orchestrator on 'On the Street where you live', which switches to Alexander Courage on "I could have danced".
I prefer Previn's in the film
who the hell cares, it's wonderful music
This is the FILM version of the overture, not the Broadway version.
Question: do you have the part where Julian Ovenden sings Freddie's song?
And to be the conductor too...

$40 a month and I get 85 tv channels PLUS twelve music channels.
