I always thought the Githyanki were elves. They have so many physical and social features similar to elves. Their ears, skin shades and texture, seclusion from others, the cast system of workers, their long lives, and much more all seem more akin the elf and human. Great video btw!
Great video on this often overlooked (at least on tabletop) race. Another cool fact is that Githyanki makes a lot of small outposts on material plane, to pretty much just age their children up, as nothing ages on astral plane. Also I appreciate the fact, that you showed the Githyanki raiding ship. Oh and on astral plane, their city is built in a floating corpse of a dead god. If anyone would be interested in DnD book which covers them, it´s Mordekainen´s Tome of Foes.
I'm very excited about playing a Githyanki in an Illithid themed story. There is a strong suggestion in 'Planescape: Torment' that the Nameless One is actually Zerthimon and while that has been 'officially' denied by the writers, the intent seems pretty strong in the game and I suspect they either changed their minds or were gagged by WOTC from introducing that into the canon. In my table's Planescape campaign I had the party get entangled in Garl Glittergold's schemes to ruin the bargain between the Githyanki and Tiamat.
So thats why i remember one mindful non racust githeyanki from BG or planescape. Thats because they look similar but are separate faction at war with githeyanki. BTW there is whole fascinating lore section about schism between gith and details on how they escaped slavery somewhere on youtube.
[Note this was many years ago. I actually played a Gnome Druid, but yes I am keepking Laezel as a friend and ally.] I was thinking, if I choose to play the Gith (Lae’zel), who really looks like an awesome character, I might not see some of her reactions and I won't be able to try and befriend/romance her :P Anyway, clearly one of the best origin characters up to now: her non-verbal stance (proud warrior), her looks, really nice. I will probably not push her into the evil path (i.e. striking at those you could talk to), though she won't be exactly a pacifist either. I feel her character will add a lot to the ambiance of the story. ps: the first time I saw the cinematic, I thought she might be a half-orc.
Lol I am a *Dragonborn* in *Baldurs Gate 3* since the full release of the game out of early access and *Lazel* actually wanted to hook up with me lol. It was her coming on too me, usually that is never the case from what I heard. I guess maybe the *Githyanki* see the *Dragonborn* as a attractive race or maybe they just want to *Ride The Dragon* 😅😂
BG3 level gap will be 10 according to Larian. Maybe they will add event with Beholder but it wont be possible to fight Beholder directly with power level we will have.
@@danilakalinin6261 How about a level cap that is not so terribly low sometime in the future? Eventually, that will have to happen after we've all repeatedly enjoyed the existing material.
@@joshholt5930 Maybe in addon or BG4. And lv10 isnt low. Most mortals would never reach such level and 15+ level is absurdly strong. Game would have to throw packs of dragons at you just to make encounters challenging and it kinda kills immersion. I'd personally prefer 15 lever gap big story expansion 2-3 years after story of BG3 ends.
@@danilakalinin6261 15th lvl is fine. I play mages a lot and look forward to those powerful higher level spells, 6th-9th. I have played the tabletop form of D&D for years. So I'm most interested in a long enduring game with lots of options like BG2.
Absolutely loved this video. I knew very little about the Gith before seeing this, and they have a very interesting background. I'll definitely be making one in one of my early playthroughs, and you can count on me to be one of those mould-breakers haha. There are always outliers to archetypes, and I've always enjoyed exploring their potential while keeping them believable and compelling. The background imagery and music you picked were wonderful too. Loved that 'lore stories around a campfire' feel. The intrigue in your narrative style was also highly infectious xD Can tell you really enjoyed talking about these guys. I'll let you know if I have any ideas for future lore videos. There's tons I'd love to hear about but I wanna prioritize haha.
I knew very little as well, but I am happy I have learned! I think I might have to make a Githyanki character as well, the story interactions shall be very interesting. Thanks as always man.
I've mostly kept up with the drizzt books, elminster, and a few other forgotten realms classics, but what novels give a good showing of githyanki and their history?
Sorry meant to say the book is called dying of the light but I haven’t read it just found that not only did Martin create game of thrones he is technically the creator of the gith to before D&D took them on
I definitely wish to play them ... Im not exactly sure wich class is fitting them tho. :-/ I wonder about Monk ... that seem interesting. It will be great if you include class sugestions to race videos, simmilar as you include sugested races to class video ... (Wich is perfect, if you decide to play f.e. Sorcerer, but are not sure wich rase is good for them ... not so great if you taking it from the other way. :) )
ChoseeComprende Githyanki in BG3 get a boost to strength and intelligence. They would make a perfect Eldritch Knight Fighter! Great idea I think I will do a video like this in the future. Thanks
I uploaded Baldur's Gate 3 videos about a Kind-hearted Githyanki named Lirene who was adopted and raised by Halflings. That would be awesome for this story. 🎮
I hope I am not the only one who have chosen thier race to play in *Baldurs Gate 3* as the *Dragonborn* and get *Lazel* to fall in love with you or in love with how good a *Dragonborn* is at sex. I can only imagine someone like *Lazel* , who is a tough as nails solider, wanting to *Ride The Dragon* 😂
What other Lore video would you guys like to see relating to BG3? Appreciate the support guys, much more BG3 content on the way!
Can u explain class features with subclass and feat effects also general dnd e5 combat mechanics pls.
Beholder
Why not go over all the announced races, classes, areas, factions etc for the game?
Hey Rikkert! Working on another BG3 "classes" video as we speak. Good to hear from ya man!
Lore about Baldur's Gate the city and surrounding region would be cool.
That explains why the red dragons in the cinematic were actually pursuing the mindflayer.

Interesting stuff! Thanks for watching
Is all of this Dungeons and Dragons franchise?
@@Aristocratic13 yes
Often forgotten by modern day gamers, as they were already featured on games like Planescape Torment and Neverwinter Nights 2.
did a roll for race thing in d&d all races legal i got githyanki. i wanted to do lore research for my background. this was a big help

When you meet a yankee that gives everyone presents all the time, Giftyankee.

It is **known** to me that these Githyanki have strayed from the path of zerthimon
Ok Dak'kon.
Great videos! Keep em comin! You got me interested in BG3 and now I love this game. Thank you and damn you at the same time haha.

I'm picking wyll and bringing Lyzel as 2nd. I agree to not being able to see her that well at a main character. I wanna see how she reacts!
@@calebwofford426 Probably a good choice from what we know up to now. Playing Gale might also be nice for a main PC.

There are rumors of a game location occurring in the Underdark. With that said, Beholders!!! Beholders!!! Did I say Beholders?

listening to a few of your vids while playing through the goblin questline
I'm playing baldurs gate 3 for the first time. Thanks for the run down

I just discovered your channel and I must say I really like your contents!
Also, if I may say so, I found you really handsome.
Thanks a lot fox!
Do you have a lore video of that the astral plane verses the real astral plane... I’m trying to wrap my head around it lol! Thanks and great videos :)
I've mostly kept up with the drizzt books, elminster, and a few other forgotten realms classics, but what novels give a good showing of githyanki and their history?
I’m not sure myself for I haven’t come across them in my readings much. I’ll have to do some research!
What I found is they were first mentioned in The dying light by R R Martin other than that book only D&D adventures

I'll get really disappointed if they wont let us play Githzerai
👍
Awesome video 😍
Thanks for watching!
ok how did you know I would have coffee?!?!? GET OUT OF OUR HEADS

The one thing I'm not a huge fan of with BG3 is the ability to play as storied characters. I didn't like the effect in DOS2, and I'm wary of it here.
do you think i can make a githyanki paladin or is that makes zero sense. i heard theres no githyanki cleric or paladin npcs
Can we ride dragon like cinematic trailer ihope we we can
Hahah most likely not, but you never know!!
Great video on the subject. Ha, the one illithid that down voted your video.
Lmao!!
Take my view and like! Give me my wrench 😉😁❤️
LOL
Now I’m really torn between this dragon riding Githyanki and my usually dark elf ranger Drizzt build...
We’re is the elf lore? Plz
I did a dark elf (drow) video already on this channel. I plan to do more elves as well! Thanks for watching.
Can I play as Dak'Kon?
I cant take this race seriously they'r too similar to Grinch. XD
BG3, more like Divinity 3
