This is a life skill, something to instill. I'm a child care coach and we encourage this. If I hadn't seen an older teacher with 5 babies do it like clock work I would sympathize. But after seeing it, no excuses.
reading the comments made me cringe...great job demonstrating proper hand washing alerting us of dirty surfaces and remembering to chart. Really great video thanks for sharing...😀👶
Thanks so much! I am in grade 10 and wanting to be a childcare worker and I was in need of knowing how to correctly change the diaper! You've helped heaps
What about only using one glove for wiping and taking the soiled pamper in that same gloved hand pull the glove over the pamper dispose then the other gloved hand for putting on cream if needed or using the gloved hand to open the diaper place under the child and put on remove the glove wipes your hands and child's hands ?
So an average of 6 minutes per diaper change, based on the length of this video...which doesn't take into account the squirming of a baby on the table or the time it takes to undress/redress (and the multiple snaps on some outfits). Oh, and don't forget the other children who may be needing your attention at the same time. If you have ten babies and each change takes 6+ minutes, it would take a solid hour to change everyone's diaper...and then it's about time to start all over again. I work with infants and we do follow these procedures to the letter, but honestly, I have to wonder about the people who came up with these procedures. I highly doubt they ever worked in an actual room with real live babies - at least not in one that is at the state mandated teacher/child ratio. XD
As I said in my previous post...a demonstration with a doll who isn't squirming on the table. Also, without having to pull clothing off and then put it back on the squirming child only to have to snap 10+ snaps while their legs are moving. I do this all day long. Even with this lady doing it slower to "explain", it still takes about this long with a live, moving child. And spending 6+ minutes per child when there are ten children in the room is ridiculous. Sorry, but it's true. lol I meant no disrespect toward the person who created this video. I was only stating my views on the actual process which was created by someone other than this lady, I'm sure.
I started working at daycare about a year ago and the biggest complaint about my job performance is that I'm not a fast diaper changer. People will say, "that's okay, than offer to do it for me, and remind me that sometimes when we have to change a lot of kids at once we have to hurry up." It's a head scratch for me because I have two kids of my own. Pretty sure I'm doing all the steps right, I'll try as I might I am not getting any faster.
Why wash your hands if you're wearing gloves? Why wipe the baby's hands and yours if you wore gloves and you're washing the baby's hands anyway? Holding a baby over the sink like that is dangerous and uncomfortable for the baby.
Liz Holy Cripes I love you because germs spread faster evn ifthe gloves are tight thsy can still get in there is always an opening for germs to geth through thats why it makes things so mutch easier
Can you please show multiple diaper changes because if we have to sit for two minutes every single time that we spray with bleach to change a child it’s going to take an hour to change 10 to 12 kids Do you use a timer how do you make sure it’s been two minutes before you put the child on the table?
I understand your point, but the Water has to be warm not cold. So it’s good to let it run a little bit before washing your hands to kill the germs. Especially when working in hospital, the water is always so cold and needs time to warm up.
How can you wash child's hands for 20 sec or hold him do close to tap.... child will move or cry and hit his head of tap....and definitely you won't be able to do it for 20 sec.... waste of time and water and you better use wipes again....
I don't agree with this. How many times do you need to wash your hands and sanitize everything? Never happens with my three children. Too much cleaning doesn't help the child to stay healthy they need a few germs to get immune. I change the diaper with my three children and all I did was took off the diaper, clean it with wipes or wash with water if wipes are not available, dry it with a towel, and put the diaper again. Then after I can wash my hands. That's it! and it's not easy to wash their hands since they are moving, better use a clean towel and wet it. I don't understand why people are so scared of germs.
it's because these are instructions for a child care center, not your own home. after changing a child, a teacher or child care worker will be touching other children and other surfaces, including surfaces that children are playing on (and kids at this age will absolutely be sticking their toys in their mouths) and surfaces that children eat on. there's a higher standard of hygiene for a child care center versus a private family home, and it has nothing to do with being "scared" of germs. however i will say that wiping the baby's hands and then washing the baby's hands feels unrealistic.
Water cannot be wasted. It can only be contaminated. But that's why we have something called the water cycle. The same water has been on this planet for billions of years. If it was constantly being "wasted" then we wouldn't have any by now...
I think I struggled with potty training when younger. But it wasnt till I was 8 I started having the odd "aciddent" down and again. They mostly happened at night. Bug I do recall it happening during the day at some point. think it was only once every 2 to 3 months but as time geaduled if happened frequenly. Idk but I think round age of 11 I had these Underwear things *not a nappy* it just was something to hflp with confidence. I stilll have some. Probably havent used one for a good 2 years.
Your hand washing was not 20 secs in your video in the training of changing a child. That video needs to be redone! That kind of counting definitely isn’t 20 secs. And will be counted against teachers.
Please use a real baby next time... Real life is different, the way the person holds the baby to wash hands is not what you would do with a real baby, and some babies and toddler get frustrated when your are washing hands for 20 seconds ... Can you help us on how to make it fun for that age besides songs??. Thank You.
First off for this "Person to be from Public health" shouldn't she be using a "Barrier" between child and table?? Sorry this video was a fail and should have used a live infant.
These comments…clearly she is demonstrating what the state board or best practices says is going to be best at preventing the spread of disease. Do the best you can. No one is going to be mad at you for not doing these steps exactly. Just move on to a different video…
Who here can back me up with changing 50 plus diapers a day for potty training toddlers with a removed bathroom which means even if they say I need to go to the bathroom they have to use a pullup or you walk all 12:1 because you don't have any help. To be a teacher of a 2/3 toddler and take to the bathroom then go across a classroom to to go back to change more diapers 48x a day in one shift but you change diapers standing up... really bleach you going to wipe that or not put a child on bleach this is ridiculous it seems so geat this is all staged this isn't what it looks like cmon lets be honest no excuses give me a break no really give me a break be honest to parents when "touring" a school day care maybe under two but two three year old potty training nope no go this isn't happening no lies you do it for twelve every day every two hours...lol yeah right....no excuses
I wish the baby would wear the same very peed and very poopy diaper every day. I wish the woman would bathe the baby with the very peed and very poopy diaper on. I wish the woman would keep the very peed and very poopy diaper on the very dirty diapered baby and never remove the very dirty diaper.
Living open Tap for too long 🚰 is not good for water supply and she hasn’t even used a nappy changing paper underneath the baby, not really impressed 😢

I work in daycare and this is so unrealistic, it's laughable. 🙄
agreed lol😂
1000% we'd be changing all day 🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
100%
Try with a real moving baby, like be forreal
good demonstration, please cut back on the running water usage though! Save the water for future generations
Johnny Junco , to waste water hurts

Deanna Brock it was a demonstration. She did it slower to explain what she was doing.

Hello I'm so obsessed in knowing how do you make sure it hygienically clean at the nappy changing area, I hear you work with infants
When do you notify the baby that you are going to change their diaper soon? Do you do it before setting up the station?
I started working at daycare about a year ago and the biggest complaint about my job performance is that I'm not a fast diaper changer. They could have used a live baby so that you can see how a child moves around while you are doing all of this.
It would be against youtubes regulations
Tracy Polasek well that’s disgusting
I REALLY hope you don’t watch kids.......
@@governordrago6554 obviously censored 🤦🏼♀️ it would just be more accurate

This is like OCD cleanliness. Using wipes on the babies hands and then washing them after? Wiipes on your hands after you have removed your gloves?

Not saying I don’t follow DCF guidelines on my own daycare just wondering what it would look like

Let's not let the water run before actually washing one's hands. Water conservation is important
I understand your point, but the Water has to be warm not cold. So it’s good to let it run a little bit before washing your hands to kill the germs. Especially when working in hospital, the water is always so cold and needs time to warm up.
Well this is something we actively do at the daycare I work at so it is a good refresher
Thanks for this, I'm going to work at a daycare soon and this is VERY helpful😊👍😊.
please make an updated demo showing the right way to wash while saving precious water. LET'S SAVE WATER!
Such an unrealistic changing procedure.
Elia Ciucurita Right because the parents do that at home totally
I’m confused how an infant under like 4 months would get their hands washed?
Please turn off the water while you're rubbing and/or drying your hands. You can use your arm or elbow to turn the tap on/off.
4:00 your crushing her leg!!
How can you wash child's hands for 20 sec or hold him do close to tap.... child will move or cry and hit his head of tap....and definitely you won't be able to do it for 20 sec.... waste of time and water and you better use wipes again....

Waisting so much water!!!

So important with counting, but you count so fast ⏩⏩😮😣
CAN I USE PLASTIC GLOVES
Its just a demonstration Good job!
She is showing how waist water 😂
She also should have immediately washed her hands after changing the baby, then wiped down the changing table
Really ridiculous been changing diapers for a very long time you would be there all day give me a break!
First off for this "Person to be from Public health" shouldn't she be using a "Barrier" between child and table?? Sorry this video was a fail and should have used a live infant.

You don’t need an aprons to change diper In childcare. What would you need an aprons for diper changing?

660 gallons of water for one single burger. People leaving their taps running are not the problem here...
