- This is the first episode on my Laguna Beach vlog series in Laguna Beach, California! This was a weekend getaway for me and my daughter.

I found a GROUPON hotel deal for the Pacific Edge Hotel right on the beach near Laguna Beach, Main Beach and Laguna Village. I've never tried a Groupon hotel deal before so I was curious. The hotel had a variety of reviews online. We decided to give it a try! I stayed in the cheapest room offered by the Groupon deal. Let me know what you think!
After traveling to California, we walked around Laguna Beach looking for a place to eat dinner, California has just started to loosen their restrictions, so Laguna Beach Downtown Village was hopping! Every restaurant had a wait.
We ended up eating dinner at a delicious taco spot, South of Nicks, with a gorgeous view of the sun setting over the Pacific ocean. We enjoyed a selection of portobello mushroom tacos and a soft taco sampler platter. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We ate outside, but the views from the inside of the restaurant are even better!!

Your dinner looked good and your view of the sunset looked amazing. Enjoyed the hotel tour. We have stayed at a number of older hotels like this to get a deal and enjoyed them (though we are pretty much able to sleep through noises on the other side of thin walls). But the location of that hotel is amazing! We often don't have a beachfront room because we don't want to pay extra for a view. But it is really nice to walk right out of a hotel and be on the beach. Enjoyed your vlog!

I love staying right on the beach, what a great location. I am an old fuddyduddy myself, but on the plus side I am a pretty heavy sleeper once I do get to sleep. After watching this I think I am ready to start planning my next beach outing, hahaha.

Sky Harbor.... 😲 It is a large international airport though so maybe that's why? I'd be curious how many of those people are from AZ. But holy heck! The location of that hotel...!!! Can't beat that! Unfortunate about the noise pollution from neighbors. We're fellow fuddyduddies most of the time as well. 😅
Us fuddyduddies must stick together!!! LOL My only guess is I was in the southwest wing of the airport and it is spring break season. My daughter said there were a lot of her friends going to sports tournaments there too , I was truly shocked at the crowds. Luckily, no one has gotten sick, whew! I was worried!

Laguna Beach is beautiful. The shopping looked amazing. Like that you put your name in and get a text when your tables ready. Such a nice touch to have a bag for your mask. It's a shame that the walls are paper thin and that it's outdated being that close to the beach. Seems like they could have made enough money being close to the beach to cover some updating. Ubering was smart.

They are about to start a massive renovation project for this hotel, long needed!! Over many years (and several owners) the hotel kept buying buildings, several of the buildings that are part of the hotel operation were once apartments. The original family which started the hotel operation lived in the beach house next to the driftwood kitchen.

Have been thinking about planning a trip very similar to this...do you remember how much it was to Uber from the airport?
Yes, this was one of the first trips I relied on an Uber so it made me a bit nervous. As soon as I started looking for a ride after picking up my bags, the priced increased, because of the demand. Several people were waiting for UBER rides. The ride was $68+tip to the hotel (15miles)- steep but still cheaper than driving and parking. The day we needed to go back to the airport, the cost was closer to $100 during rush hour, so I used Lyft instead and it was about $30 but the driver was crazy! :-)-- extremely high variability on cost depending on demand.
@@SwiftyTravels Oh wow! Thanks for the info though... I definitely do not want to drive or park haha. I recently flew into Long Beach and paid around 30 both ways (the hotel is downtown), but I think it's a shorter distance. Good to know...enjoyed your comprehensive video!!
