I find this song so fulfilling, like eating a very large meal. Total indulgence. Edit: For many years, hardcore fans tried to read into the lyrics and 'solve' the riddle. Nik disappointed them when he finally admitted that it was a load of nonsense and just words he rhymed at random.
This is a fairly complex song in terms of Chords etc...where many popular songs rely on simple chord progressions but personally I think it is a masterpiece 🧐
Nik is unique in the way that so many of his songs have very unusual chord progressions as in the run from 3:32. For me the riddle is how he manages to accommodate these while maintaining a sound that seems so right ...
His songs are way more complex than people realize - which is a testament to his song writing abilities - but there is always a surprise to be heard in his music. You've probably seen it - but there is an analysis of this song on UA-cam, you can find it if you search for "Nik Kershaw's The Riddle... is actually insane".
I used to listen to this song on repeat as a kid. So glad that someone requested it! Luv Nik! 😁❤
I absolutely love his voice! It sounds modern and soulful

Hue and Cry - Labour of Love was one of my favs from the 80's, loads of jazz n' funk
Great artist and songwriter. He was a major heartthrob in the mid 80s too.
Great Observation the Stevie Wonder similarity!
Especially on Human Racing
Kershaw is musically very strong. Don’t worry too much about the lyrics in this one, but some of his lyrics are quite inventive. Great writer imho.

@@zoeherriot Thank you Zoe ... I'll take a look 😊
One of my favorite tracks - it’s quite a complex composition - but the lyrics are meaningless (in Nik’s own words).
