Norway is simply stunning. We loved the ice and seeing the frozen trees. I loved to hear the positives in what was a tough year. I do agree, the UA-cam community is so positive, encouraging and uplifting. We too have found a new tribe this year and are loving every minute. Loved this. Thanks for sharing 🍻
Another great video Maria ! I especially liked the closing sequence. I am pleased that you found a place you like. I don't think any of us ever really find the perfect place, and in any case the perfect place at one time in life may not be quite so perfect some years later. So, I think the trick is to just keep moving from time to time. I wish you and yours a happier 2022.
You are such an incredible person, I've started seeing your videos just a few days ago, I'm really picky with who I watch, and you really captivated me. Your candor, honesty, rawness. You're wild and real, I really really love hearing you talk, and wow I love nature as well, one of my dreams is to go to Norway and explore all those beautiful places. Thank you for putting yourself out there! *
I love your videos and I am proud of you both for stepping out and trying some place new . I am old enough to be your grandmother and wish I have done so much more getting out and exploring with my two boys when they were growing up. Life goes by so fast enjoy each day and have fun I can see how happy you both are stay safe and keep having fun ❤️❤️
Thank you, that is good advice ♡ I try to enjoy it and keep in mind that it is not forever this life, but its easy to get caught up in the speed of it all these days. Lots of love to you.
It is a good life you have chosen. You are so fortunwte to have such deep reservoirs of peace, calm and beauty just for the price of opening your front door. Regards from the north Idaho panhandle, USA.
Canada, this is my dream destination. If my granduncle did it in 1927, totally alone, without any money, established himself in British Colombia, why couldn't I? Greetings from Lithuania!:))
I can relate so much to this. This past year and a half (since May of 2020) has been the hardest, most emotionally difficult time of my life, and mostly not directly related to Covid. We live in the USA and we also have moved, changed jobs, we nearly lost our son and now we are building our house ourselves in a rural area where we didn't know anyone. It has been so hard, but also full of so many blessings. I am so glad I found your videos and I will enjoy continuing to follow your journey. I hope to someday visit Norway and I love that you are giving me an inside picture of what life it like there. Your videos are beautiful!
I was very moved by this comment. So sad to hear you had such a hard year. I'm glad you still feel like me that it brought some good things within all the bad ones. Really hoping that this year will be better for you, us both I guess
I totally agree, it was such a hard year, yet so blessed. Have no idea how we got through it, but somehow we did! I must admit your videos are one of the things that brought me comfort this year. Thank you, Maria ❤️❤️❤️
Again and again you share so much natural beauty. Seeing this helps me be content with not being able to get out. It refreshes my spirit and I thank you. Now to the matter of icy water baths - in my wildest attempts to imagine I cannot! In a Q & A could you talk about that? Thank you, Maria, for all you do and all you are in this torn up, messed up world!
thank you for your honesty. It is so easy to romanticize media and I love that I watch your videos and feel a relatable and realistic experience. Happy you are enjoying your experience, love watching your renovation videos :)
Thank you for your beautiful video. I'm currently going through some personal trauma and watching this gave me a few moments of piece and grounding. Trying to look to the future now.
I am really sorry to hear you are struggling. I'm glad my video could help, if only just a little. Sending love your way right now from my little kitchen
WOW 😍what a FANTASTIC BEAUTIFUL video, Maria! ✨✨✨✨✨ You are so good at doing beautiful videos. /Ditte i Skåne
I never see snow where I live in East Texas, USA. I love to see your scenery and you and your kitty at play.. I know it is brrrr cold but it is so beautiful.
Ah, that must be very different from here indeed! I would not mind some warmth at this point though. We are down to -17 C degrees now, but it is like you say - very beautiful
My son spent one semester studying in Norway. He loved it there, also in a small town. I love seeing the scenery and your progress on your little house.
Hi Maria, just to say that I got here through Lili of Norway and I'm loving your vlogs. I saw them all! Keep sharing your thoughts and letting me know a little about the places and that Norway that I don't know about. Here where I live, an intense city in the suburbs of Lisbon (Portugal) there is no snow or beautiful landscapes to see, so I am enchanted by vlogs like yours, where in addition to the aesthetic sense, there is so much to learn. keep going!
I found a house in the Norwegian wilderness, quite by chance. I lived in Sweden and looked on Finn for a house in Norway. Went to look at a small house, but didn't really like it. While I was shopping in the grocery store in the closest village I met another shopper who just happened to have a house for sale in the area. 5 months later Iived in that house and loved it! Subsequently I built my own dream house a few hours away from there, and now I've been living happily in Norway for 17 wonderful years. I also found jobs and friends, no problem. Everything usually works itself out, one way or another, so don't ever be afraid to go for your dreams.
Thank you so much for sharing this story ♡. I hope others that are thinking about this read it, so encouraging 😊. I'm really glad you found your home in Norway and that you are still living happily there.
Yes, it was a hard year in many ways. I experienced that the time I spent in nature was the best time. It gave me so much happiness and healing through tough times. I wish you a wonderful new year, Maria 💚
I absolutely loved and enjoyed this video. I think it was very nice to hear your whole story. We can now put the pieces together and understand what really happened. I showed it to Omar because we are actually in a very similar process. In 2014 we moved to a semi-rural area. And it feels like what you guys just did. And we love it. And we love the land. But we still think our dream home is out there deep in the mountains waiting for the right time … I wish the same for you guys! 😄🥰☀️
I am so glad you enjoyed it Saray ♡. How cool that you did something similar in 2014. I believe that place is there somewhere in both our futures, and I look forward to hearing about yours! Lots of love to you
You have such a beautiful winter landscape ! We certainly experienced the lockdowns, which nevertheless forced to learn to live with oneself...for some it could be quite easy, for others less. A year and a half of a rather strange life, where we had to learn that life can sometimes come out of the rails, or like a river, out of its bed. it’s quite destabilizing, but at the same time, we’re discovering our potential for adaptation and resilience....
Yes the lockdowns have had a great impact on so many people. I am very glad you feel like you discovered some resilience. Here the lockdowns did not hit us so hard, we were lucky in that sense, since we live in a rural place things feel less intense, also I was already working from home as a freelancer. I hope it will not be another full year of it though, so many are affected. Lots of love to you
Such a beautiful place you live in Norway! 🥰😍 Can I ask, if you don't mind, what's the song at the end of the video? I've been binging your videos and this song is now stuck in my head 🤣
I am so happy you are enjoying the videos! Ahh, this song is so cool, got stuck in my head too for a long time. Its "Earth (Light it up)" by Tilden Parc and Xavy Rusan
@@Mariaandtheforest You guys are like free therapy to me. 🧘♀️✌️ It's so nice and peaceful to watch real places, not photoshoped, real people, in real life, doing real things, communicating real life struggles and ways to deal with them. I feel like dancing in the rain, deep in a forest when i hear it and singing along with it 🤣🤣🤣 I tried to find it through various methods, but no luck. That's why I dared to ask, even though it's such an old clip. Keep up the good work. You should get some Yaktrax (chains that go on the bottom of your shoes). They are so effective. I fell a lot before I started wearing them in icy weather.
I moved to a small town on the north shore of lake Superior for my retirement.Three and a half hours west to Thunder bay or four and a half hpours east to Sault St Marie.Basically we are in the middle of the wilderness here even though we are 3 miles off the trans Canada highway. One has to stay busy in this 4000 population town but you can get cabin fever in the winter as we get about 6 months of winter which four of those months can be brutally cold with lots of snow. I am past the snow mobile thing and cannot venture to isolated lakes to go ice fishing so I have some indoor hobbies now that keep me occupied but its tough. In the big city you can go out to malls and coffee shops plus join many groups or take night school but here that is not possible. I am gratefull there is a seniors club here and I am very active in it. You kinda have to plan your days to stay busy and active as exercise is the key to staying healthy in retirement.
That sounds really wonderful, and also really challenging! I can relate to feeling a sense of cabin fever in the winter. It is like you say easier to pass the time in the city in winter. Here I sometimes feel like everything is frozen in time. I love that you have taken up indoor hobbies though, that helps me a lot too - and some house projects! Wishing you a winter to come with lots of activities and good health
Thank You and yes my indoor hobbies are ..I build scale model aircraft and airbrush paint them and have quite a hobby shop set up in the basement plus I do leather work as right now I am making a moose hyde muklucks that are lined with beaver fur. Keeping my small home clean keeps me busy in the winter also as I am indoors quite a bit. I am going to do snowshoeing this winter with the snow kickers club here this winter as well...cheers@@Mariaandtheforest

Nice work. But we ca spare all the "like"'s and "kind'a"s, that is just too unoriginal compared to this beautiful video.
Well, its a valid point! I try, but English is not my main language, so its not perfection and I don't think it ever will be 😊
