It was also debriefing when Rangers and Marines recovered SEALS missing gear and weapons. Our service members ( which took out the teen and enemy forces) recovered the videos recorded by enemy fighters. Rangers also went in and located Luttrel and the rest of his SEAL team ( believe Axe was found some distance away, and it took a week or so to find him). Rangers were able to locate Luttrel and exfil him out.

To me this felt like a modern day Saving Private Ryan. Obviously the story is completely different but it has that same feeling, and you drown in your own tears in the end.

Latrell was the only survivor and he’s the one who cost the whole team their lives with his we can’t kill them bullshit. The team is what matters and sometimes collateral damage is unavoidable. I know something about that from Vietnam. It wasn’t pleasant and still haunts me, but I’d do it again given the same situation.
Murphy was a great man he knew the risk and did not care he knew what he had to do to save his men and didn't hesitate to make the call I wish we had more people like this today to sacrifice for brotherhood and friends.
Cool action movie, but there are actual documentaries out there about this event. Nobody can take away the bravery, training and valor of Americas fighting men. That said, it’s a SEAL specialty to get themselves into bad situations, only to have to be bailed out by Rangers and Marines. Mr, Luttrell was the sole survivor of this op, and I was shocked at seeing him in his first interview. Hes not ok, and that is all that can be expected. He will live with this experience, as we all will live with our experiences. Watch an interview with anyone who is considered a “survivor”, and you will plainly see the parts that didn’t make it.

Actually 2/75th rangers came and got Marcus out; the were on the recovery mission for red wing from the downed chinook when they picked up Marcus’s signal from the village!! Much props to the Rangers who walked down off the crash site and rescued Marcus
