Great review, one of the best oabout RS660 available. A lot of content for someone who is in the market for this bike. I think I am getting one next week. I am 40 years old and I think I will go for the yellow one. Seems like perfect midlife crisis bike, let's see what my wife is going to tell when she will see it. Cheers!

Great choice! I'm 52 and grabbed one a couple of weeks ago. I went from cruisers to this sporty bike and well worth changing. I do love the acid gold, but ended up with the lava red. Enjoy!

@@stevehoodiman great choice too! I love this bike more and more. Unfortunately it has been back to the dealer last two weeks for the valve issue that seems quite common now. Not sure when I could have it back but I can't wait. My dealer is great and I keeps giving me different demo bikes from similar price range for the time of the repair and I can tell you one thing. None of them can compete with RS660.

@@szymonchalupka I hate to hear your ride is laid up. I'm really glad the dealer is keeping you on two wheels. I hope mine is that good should I run into an issue. I'd love to check out different bikes, but I know the RS660 is one of a kind.

@@stevehoodiman surely it is! It is also completly new bike, nothing like old MT07 packed into the fairings with fancy name that only sounds fast :) So there will be issues but most will be solved after first RS660 production year.

Got my RS660 back after 134 days. This is what it took to replace exhaust shimms. Since that, I did 400 kilometers and the bike is running just fine, it also feels smoother than before. But my riding seson is almost over now. So I hope for better one next year.

Love the review. I purchased the bike a couple of weeks ago. Right now, at least in the US, there is a feeding frenzy on motorcycles, houses, etc. I drove 90 minutes in the wee hours of the morning to stand at the dealer's for to get this bike, it was their only one. When the doors opened there was a long line of unhappy dudes behind me when I told the salesman what I was there for.

I don't know why but personally I really like this yellow color. It's very showy but I think it's nice. It is a bit pricy but I think this seems like a great bike. Definitely should test one.

I’d throw Triumph Street Triple R out there as a competitor. Cheaper, a little, and premium too. Less sporty look but maybe same riding position? I’d like to see the Tuono 660 compared to a Street Triple.

I personally love this new niche of bike one what I call, the “premium compact” class of bike, if we’re to use an automotive term here. I lump BMW’s new F900 series of bikes and Ducati’s Supersport in here as well. They’re middleweight powerplants, sort of middle of the road physical size, not compact like a Ninja 400 but not touring or cruiser sized sort of bikes, but with all the same tech and convenience goodies and build quality you used to only find in top tier bikes. I have the BMW F900r and I love it for that very reason. I was realistic in what sort of power figures I wanted out of a new bike for my application, but I did want the full kit only top spec bikes would’ve had in the past. This is an exciting new segment that fills a niche I DO believe is out there, but hasn’t been tapped into until recent.

    • @chrishart8548

Well it's boarding on 1000cc bike prices for 650cc bikes. They never thought people would pay but things are changing. I absolutely love the S1000xr te sport with all the toys. But I have no use for 165hp and 40mpg would be annoying. Maybe BMW should look at a F900s in the future.(would be close too this rs660) Also the kawasaki ninja 400 is so compact I'm sure a few 125cc sports bikes are bigger and more comfortable. On paper it makes sense but when a fully grown man sits on it it's all rong

    • @benwells2338
      @benwells2338 3 роки тому +1

@@chrishart8548 I was thinking the same. I think the F900 platform is great for BMW and would love to see a sportbike variant emerge. I love the RR but since I don’t go to the track the bike would be a huge waste of money for my use. My previous bike was the Ninja 650 and I got it for its larger dimensions, speaking of the 400 😋 I’m still newish to riding with only a few years under my belt, but I’m 34 at 6’2, and thought the 400 looked like a great beginner bike initially, but the thing was just too small for me.

Wow I realized I didn't even watch your review before purchasing this bike (sorry Scott) but I tend to agree with John's (Lamb Chops) opinions whole heartedly. But this is a very accurate and fair review and after owning the bike now I can attest to your opinions (even the TFT, kinda meh). I have a soft spot for middleweight sport bikes starting with a CBR 600 RR back in 03 and this bike is just such an evolution of the concept. It's so fun and yet so practical and I went through the nekked bike phase and at speed are just miserable to ride with the wind beating you up especially at lower elevations (~sea level). Spot on review as usual and thanks as always for the great content

My multistrada 950s's fuel gauge is useless anyways. It is hilarious, you will go to fill up when it is showing less than half a tank and only take 1.8 gallons. Then, go again at roughly the same and it takes 2.5 gallons. I just use the trip meter and ignore for the most part the fuel gauge. Ducati told me, local dealer, that the reason for this issue is ethanol based fuels, and I will admit it seems more accurate after a few tanks of ethanol free fuel, but I wouldn't trust it remotely.

I've owned a Tuono V2 and currently own a Tuono V4. I have ridden the RS660 for a few days, but if you know big power/torque, this is not for you. It only really comes alive above 7k, which isn't unfamiliar to an Ape, but the RS is pretty unsatisfying below that, IMHO. Above 7K, you are already exceeding speed limits. 😬
Other than that.... it's brilliant in every way 😎🥳 and it would be great to have as a second bike. Too bad I can't afford that.

Great review, really helpful! I will be getting my A license in April and really considering getting one of these. Reliability seems questionable from what I read for the european bikes as opposed to the japanesse ones. This is just purely on what I've read online but I'm kind of torn between this or the zx6r.
I will try and get my hands on them if I can find them at dealer nearby, but do you have any opinion on this? I will be using it for city ride and 2h commute in weekends.

      Thank you,
Well, you can't get a new 2021 ZX6R here in Europe because they didn't pass the Euro5 emissions. None of the "Japanese 4" did for their 600 super sport bikes in 2021. You can only buy them in non-EU countries. (Like the U.K.) The best thing to do here in Europe is to find a left-over 2020/19 still sitting around on dealerships floors (or a used one), they might give you a good deal 😁 and is a lot cheaper to maintain than this.
Good luck with completing your license!

Going out to EuroCycle Orlando Florida tomorrow on my 2020 Ninja 650 KRT ABS to check out the Tuono 660. Probably sits like an MT-07. Not really a fan. I had one. If I even remotely like it I'll have them bring the RS model over from Tampa (35 minute ride vs 2 hours, and they said they would).
Hopefully I can test ride the Tuono to get a feel for it. The sales guy said they had every color option. I just hope one of them is a demo. Hopefully not in yellow because that is just FUGLY! Ducati puts out yellow now and then and it's FUGLY!
I will say one thing nice about the Tuono. AT LEAST THE WHEELS MATCH!!! LMAO! Red wheels look a LOT better on the silver or black Tuono. I do have a hunter green jacket though so if I bought the yellow RS I guess my nickname would be Stoplight...lol.
Im probably more into trying out the RS because I heard that it sits like the 2006 Honda Interceptor I used to have, and I LOVED that bike's ergos.
You've been around a while like me. Do you think it sits like the older V-Tech Honda Interceptor?
Sorry about your rear brake troubles with that BMW you vlogged. I loved the linked brakes on my Interceptor. Lots complained about it but that's because they don't know how to use them. Im a fan of the rear brake too and I have to say I love the rear brake on the Ninja 650 I currently own. Not a fan of how much the front end dives but then I should change the oil to heavier, maybe 20 weight and make spacers about 10 mm longer. I hate the later because you take away from fork travel, but it's a street bike and that shouldn't be much of a concern.
By the way, I'm really sick and tired of hearing EVERYONE call the Tuono 660 a naked or super naked bike. IT'S ALMOST AS FULLY FAIRED AS THE RS!!! I If the Tuono is a naked then so was my 1982 Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo! So is a Kawasaki Versys!! I mean C'MON! If it's close to anything it's close to the old faired version of the Suzuki SV. The Tuono simply shows more of the sexy engine. That's all. It's faired! Upright bars don't make a bike a naked. It makes it a UJM!

I think you mean the CBR600RR? I can't ride in that position any more longer than 30mins 😒 So I'd take this. With the Honda you have to live @ 9,000 RPM and up if you want power and this the power comes on @ 4,000 RPM.

Thank you, it's an Ogio Mach 5, yes I love it. I use it on every review, it carries all my camera equipment, which includes two full size tripods. You can get the Mach 3 or Mach 1, they are just cheaper versions of it, but basically the same. The aerodynamics are great, I've done 250kmh on the autobahn while on my 1290SDR, a naked bike! And I didn't even know it was there.
A detailed video of my riding history...hmm...now that would be a long, long video, covering 30+ years of riding, very boring 😒 Nobody would watch it, except for you 😢
      Thank you for the suggestion!
      Ride safe,
      Scott

The Aprillia certainly revs higher than your (and my!) F900XR but in my book an optimum torque 'curve' should be as flat possible. While you can say that for the less sporty BMW, the Aprilia graph is very peaky in comparison.

Hard to take seriously while looking at that color. As sporty street bikes go I'm sure it's awesome, but it takes a special kind of squirrel to sport on street. Like you said, Tuono.
