  • After staying for the night at the house of some strangers, they invite me to join them for their traditional bedouin breakfast. The women bake bread, while men enjoy having some great food. A beautiful bedouin hospitality shadowed by the fact that my hosts have searched my bags, took money in it, and sabotaged my bike.

    I felt bad after these families spent enormous time and effort to treat you with extreme hospitality. The end part was so saddening but yet you can't blame the family as they didn't know what was going on behind the curtain with those two thugs. Yet God bless the generous blessing family.

    The family is still wonderful and friendly in my eyes. No shame on them, maybe someone stole it on their own plans, maybe a few planned something. However, most of them where super nice and had a lot of hospitality. Shared what they have and acted so friendly.

    They weren't expecting a stranger among their midst. The family genuinely hosted you but someone (one or two) within the family took the opportunity to rob you. In introspect, the thieves would have thought it was not stealing - you were given free accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner (endless supply of beverages), entertainment, sightseeing trips and all of these came at a price of the amount they stole. You assumed they were generous on their part but thats what happen with the nomads. They are truly not hospitable. I found myself in a very similar situation in Jordan.

      Well, everything they offered me was absolutely not worth $400.
      And they also cut the rack of my bike... so I think that it was more than just making me pay for what they offered me, it was planned robbery from when they decided to propose to host me.

      I know what you mean. They masked their planned robbery in the name of hospitality. Very disgusting and disappointing to take advantage of a visitor. I'm glad you made a quick exit. Take care!! Its a hard balance between being open to the joy of having an open mind and being an empathetic person and risking the potential dangers of a rare bad interaction, and closing yourself off to random interactions that might get you into trouble because you are overly cautious... on the whole, I would much rather be guided by empathy and an open mind.. but having a good gut to trust is important. I guess you can never know...

    The family looks welcoming and friendly, especially women and the older men. It is hard to believe that your money was stolen in the same house and somebody tried to sabotage your bike. I think the two men you expect to have stolen your money may have been upset when they had realised you were going to leave without leaving something behind to the family. I am not sure that was the case. But this is just hypothesis.
    In some cultures , when a guest is hosted, they leave something if they can as a sign of saying thank you. It is considered impolite and ungrateful to just leave.
    Some people may even intentionally stop guests that look rich on their way, invite them to their house for a few days in order to get money in return. They don’t ask for anything when the guest leaves, but they expect to be given something. I think that is what happened during your stay in that house. Your hosts, especially the two bearded guys you refer to as thugs, may have noticed that you wouldn’t leave something. So they decided to take some your money behind your back.

    I am moroccan and have a big family. 20 uncles and aunts. And countless cousins. 99% of my family are virtuous, religious and moral people. The most generous people you will meet. But there is always a 1%. You need to take this into consideration when encountering such a big family. Sad to think that so few people can stain their whole family's reputation. And not fair i believe.

    • @KinoYves
      @KinoYves  Рік тому +9

      But these 1% have a huge impact on society, they have a much greater impact than the silent 99%. So in this sense, the 99% are also guilty for letting the 1% becoming a threat to society.

      @@KinoYves I don't think the 99% are guilty. Because there will always be a 1%, its unrealistic to think that perfection can be achieved in this life. Unfortunately there will always be bad temptations in life. And In my experience, the bad apples in our family have stolen and abused us (their family) more than others. Its a shame. And its wrong. But I think its more Dangerous to paint all with the same brush. Because it seems to me that its not the case that they are all thugs.

Poverty is an issue so robberies are becoming more than when the economy was more stable. The refugee boom also added to the economic crisis within Lebanon.

    its too sad that, this kind hospitality ended so. I also think someone from neibours or within family did that, not these guys. Because, it would be nonsense, if they were kindly hosted you 2 days only to steal your money. If they wanted, they would do it without spending so much time. Anyway, its too sad story.

    I am optimistic that, unlike the two young men, the Family members are humble and remarkably hospitable, as I can see from the footage. However, the man in the visor cape, in particular, seemed to me a trained professional in covert operations and intelligence gathering. I noticed his facial expression and eye movement in the footage and concluded that he could inflict the most heinous damage and camouflage it. So lucky to escape unhurt, man!

    Yves look at the one with the long hair, he is the only one here to do those things. Looks how he waves his hand when his brother unknowingly tries to open the cover to the bike, he signals with his hand like "nonono dont" because he was afraid you would see right there in front of his parents. I dont think anyone else than him was behind this. He has all the red flags from the fake Balenciaga to the constant clowny demeanor. I do think their hospitality was whole hearted.
