@atechnews3221 but that's my point you have to trust your drummer to not Rush the tempo because you want your winds to catch their breaths when necessary not only that but to have him not even have the conductor in eyesight is something to be proud of as a conductor Percussion usually keeps tempo naturally if that makes sense but as a percussionist myself we do get out of hand
@@jsonparrish1545the conductor is following the tempo given by the percussion in this case. Look at 2:45 the percussionist is specifically looking at the one in the front to know when to restart. I'm having a nerd out with this performance, not just from a One Piece stand point but from a music nerd stand point. Each drum present in at the front are from different cultures: taiko drum (japan), congo drum (cuba), bongo drum (afro-cuban), snare drum (swiss), timpani (italy), wood blocks (chinese). Five drums from different cultures that have their own unique sounds combined together to make a unified beat for the 'drums of liberation' theme. That is an amazing level of depth to this theme.
A fair amount of misinformation here. Congas and bongos are both afro-cuban. The snare drum doesn't originate from any specific country, and timps aren't italian, only their name is. I agree that the variety of percussion is cool, but that's just how almost any percussion-heavy orchestral piece works. Percussion in general is just full of different cultures; unless the composer intentionally chooses everything from one culture, it'll just naturally have lots of variety.
@@xmobstersal4167 the rhythm is somewhat similar to a samba, I'd say it's samba-esque. @@itsSmiv haha you did great I appreciate it. My drum instructor told me to pick up a samba jam to learn as it will "open doors" . As a one piece lover this song came to mind immediately, I think I can convince him it's close enough 😅
@@xmobstersal4167 that might be a little tough to convince him on lmaoo, but i hope he accepts it, that'd be cool. You could always tweak it a little bit to make it even more samba-like. The surdo is basically a Brazilian bass drum, so you could change the bass drum part to be more of a surdo groove. Either just light hits on each beat, or dotted 8th + 16th note for each beat. Oda's actually talked in author's notes about how he worked with a composer to get a theme to go with his "Bink's Sake" lyrics because he couldn't write or play music. Oda writes and draws the manga (with many assistants and editors and so on also involved). He's probably consulted for the anime from time to time, and he speaks positively of it when he mentions it at all, but he's not exactly got a hand in the anime production process. Don't give credit to the wrong person and the try to pretend you meant to do that. If it's really that you didn't know who to name, then name 'em for what they do: the person that composed the music, the ochestra that played it for the anime, the team that recorded it and mixed it into the soundtrack, the storyboarders and fight choreographers and directors and animators that made the epic visuals to match...
It's probably on the animation side, not just oda. But i guess oda made specifications like it must be festive and is related to beating (since his gears from 2nd to 5th are related with blood, bones, muscles, and heart, respectively), like beating of the heart.
