    The timing job on a 2.2/2.4 eco-tec is so easy, they normally give a warning b4 the chain jumps time by tapping at start up...200k on my 07 G5 2.2. It runs great!!!

    I have a 2011 malibu 2.4 i got at 185125 miles - now at 221663 miles and its done - I got tboned heard nothing since it went to arbitration and i let it sit too long- remote started it one day to juice up the battery and thought nothing of it - went out to start it by key since it wouldnt remote start and it feels off balanced and like its running on maybe 2-3 cylinders - spark plugs done and swap coil no cyl misfire change - still unburnt fuel on plug - I must say tho i see these blow up before or around 100k - mine was one owner and we both used full Synthetic oil - it is key to those timing chains lasting and if you have a 2.4 and you hear a chattering on startup it means you need a timing chain tensioner- stop driving it and get the chains done asap.
    We also have a 3.6 traverse 2011 on its original chains and rest of drivetrain at 182k miles

      Chatter on start up can also be caused by debri in the pil pickup screen, in the oil pan. (Old, plastic guides, from timing chain and balance shaft chain)

    If you see/get this...am working on an older version of this model (2008 2.4L), and a couple shops have told me it needs the entire AC compressor/condenser parts replaced because it just won't take/hold recharging it. My issue is that I can't seem to find the entire kit without having to look up the parts separately from different brands. Which brand would you recommend getting all the parts for the work my car needs, even better, is there a brand that sells the entire kit? Also, what would be a good ballpark cost be to do these repairs, because these shops are quite high?!

    Killing it guys thanks for the content , I’m sure it has to be hard as hell getting it all together as in videos uploading flipping . Love the flipping content though . Do you guys have regular 9 to 5 jobs and do this on the side too ? Just curious .

      Thanks man! We both have jobs in real estate outside youtube. Mine is a little more flexible than his though so that's why he's only there for portions of videos sometimes.

      I don't know exactly what would be involved but they aren't super expensive cars and you'd for sure end up spending more than it was worth.

    • @TopLineRacer
      @TopLineRacer  2 роки тому

      Yes, it jumped time. Somewhat common on these engines.

      @@TopLineRacer what is cause of jumped time, lack of oil change

    • @DevJB
      @DevJB Рік тому +3

      @@raymondcanessa7208 Front timing guide on 2.4 ecotec has thin walls in its bolt mount hole. So if it rattles too much, it'll snap. The chain may get slack because primary tensioner is then maxed plunger outward and cannot tighten the chain. So the chain begins to rattle 'all components' and slap the top guide plate causing top cover slap noise and typically a check engine light for advanced or retarded timing, especially on VVT model. What causes the front guide to 'shatter'? The first flaw is the walls of the bolt holes on the front guide are too thin.
      The second flaw is the constant updated and failing timing chain tensioner which bounces plunger too much during idle, acceleration and using a\c, 'strain at lower rpm events'. If the oil isn't maintained; it contributes to helping the 2 well known factory failure parts. It will cause the primary tensioner 'hydraulic oil galley hole and velocity pressure' to slack the chain and will then rattle the front guide until the very thin plastic front guide bolt hole walls break and then the chain jumps 2-3 teeth and you got valves clapping, or the chain may ride on the 2 bolts and will wear them down or back them out. The guide pieces fall to the side and get dinged up hitting the gears and such and work their way down into oil pickup tube screen from oil pan which also contributes to even more bad oil pressure and failure but it might drive for 4000 miles before throwing a code, seen it numerous times riding on the 2 bolts with no codes, don't wait because then valves and seals time, rollers, lash adjusters. VVT cam phaser going bad usually is a contributor to chain rattle on this model too.
      The third flaw is cold winter weather below zero. If the ecotec isn't fully warmed up, the thick cold oil will contribute to tensioner loss and guide rattle hydraulic lash adjusters not fully awake, valve seals are still expanded, everything is swollen up and needs to warm up, oil galleys pressure, the o2 system and all sensors lastly have turned on at 5 minutes, before leaving.
      If the front guide breaks; The engine needs yanked and oil pan, crank housing, sump tube, vvt, all oil galleys in engine. all cleaned out.
      p.s. I take the broken guide pieces and the 2 worn down bolts and put them in a bag and make "Cloyes" new lego set. I'm still looking for an old tampon box to store them in. : )

    The ecotec LEA engine is the worst engine in recent history... especially with the NU6 RPO. Check out prices on a 100k mile used one... going for 4k around me. They're not expensive cuz they are good, they are expensive cuz everyone needs one cuz they are absolute garbage.
