the tattoos. the work on his body. his accent... George was lookin' *_fine_* as hell! Seriously, he should consider getting a few tattoos - specifically that neck piece. It looked so natural on him, that I honestly thought it was a real tattoo.
Just finished watching Femme and was left absolutely mesmerized. George had a completely spell-binding presence throughout, I'm deeply fascinated by his performance. What an unfathomably brilliant film.
Such a touching and heartbreaking story on so many levels. Both leads are incredible, under-rated actors. George's portrayal is so incredibly nuanced that in the end it made me love a character that I'd have loathed if George hadn't added so much depth to him. It's a tragic reflection on the world we live in where people so repressed they feel they can't be true to themselves and love who they want. I would love to say more but don't want to spoil anything, but I was blown away and now have an incredible crush on George. What a beautiful man, inside and out, who has an incredible gift to give depth and soul to the roles he plays. This movie has stayed with me since I saw it
@@Kevin4M3Mi ex felt real disappointed, but I found it right. Both characters end alone. 1 'cause of violence. The other, 'cause of his spirit of revenge. I think it's like saying "If they're would released their inner feelings they would have end together, but angry and vengeance spoiled it all."
I had to come here because of how deeply moved and shaken I was after finishing Femme. Honestly i am speechless, and it’s going to stay with me for a while. Hearing George speak so eloquently about his character, and the film, is helping. Both him and Nathan are absolutely incredible at what they do. Hats off to the writers, and all the team. Absolutely stunning. Just wow.
George Mackay is a truly talented, poetic and intelligent actor. He is one of the rare actors, in my opinion, who succeeds in creating in me this impression of intimately knowing each character he plays. His cinematic evolution is more than tangible, and it's wonderful to have access to it as a spectator. Thank you very much Variety for this superb interview and thanks to the journalist for his very pertinent questions! 🌞
A really insightful interview. It's always so refreshing to see George in interviews discussing his characters and his process of bringing them to life. Preston has so many dimensions and discovering more about how George became him is fascinating. I was lucky enough to see Femme at the Edinburgh Film Festival in August. Nathan, Sam and Ng did a good queston and answers session afterwards. To understand George's perspective is great though. I'd love to know more really about Preston's many tatoos and what they represented, why certain ones were chosen etc.
He was fantastic in this movie. I forgot he was an actor he became almost lovable, and then you hated him, and then he just wanted to hold him as he cried.
He's a very good speaker, hearing his views and passion for his work, the depth he goes into each topic and how he talks about the people he works with is so refreshing, respectful and beautifully expressed ❤. I respect that. Really makes me want to look into more of the work they do. Really looking forward on what is to come. Thankyou for sharing the interview!!❤❤
Growing up in the U.K….George played his part so well it genuinely as a queer kid made me a little uneasy. He was so believable! I had to watch this to remind myself he is a nice guy 😂 honestly such an example of a great actor ❤
thank you for this. George's insights are always so fascinating to hear and I enjoy listening to his process and how his characters came to be with the help from wonderful staff and crew of his films ❤️
George is such a talented actor and a even humble and kind person! 👏🏼 Hearing his in-depth viewpoint of the character and the work he’s put into the film is truly inspiring and refreshing.
I saw this movie at the Zurich Film Festival and I was so upset afterwards that I had picked a day where they weren't present for the post movie q&a. I didn't expect to like this movie so much, so I would have loved seeing them live! I cannot wait until this movie gets officially released so I can watch at home. Right now I might go and see it again when I am in Amsterdam at the end of the month, just to experience it again :D It is a great movie and I can definitely recommend. It may not be for everyone and could leave you feeling uneasy at times, but it's worth it in my opinion!
George Mackay is an incredible, talented and brilliant actor of our generation. It's a great privilege to see him more and more surprising in his performances.
One of the most insightful and well thought out responses to questions video I have watched in a minute. George Mackay is truly on his way to become a fine actor but honestly, Nathan Garrett got my attention from the trailer.
I love that George is acknowledging that Nathan is the lead of the film and is astonishing in this film but strangely most of the press is focused on George…
I think this is simply because George’s character was more unusual in the whole context than Nathan’s, who was portrayed still as fairly unsure in his choices.
Being someone that's read all the books and watched all the films i've been saying this to people for quite a bit so glad to see others that agree , He was great in True History of the Kelly Gang and Captain Fantastic. But as long as that don't make Bond black i'll be happy
@laurelmalinowski1676 Why am i? Because I want character to resemble what he's been like from the beginning of his conception dating back to 1953. We shouldn't change things for a "Modern Audiences" to virtue signal
George is magnificent! As an actor and as a person ❤. I have followed his work since he was a child, and I have liked all his movies and series. What can I say about 1917?! It is my favorite movie, I remember the day I saw it in the cinema, I was breathless. I felt extremely identified with his character (memories of my past life), it was an honor to see him in that role! All my unconditional love and applause for him ❤
George is such a fantastic actor, his portrayal of Preston is one for the books, he puts so much nuance to this role it is breathtaking to watch. He makes Preston scary as hell yet as vulnerable as one can be, amazing performance, yet another highlight of Georges amazing career. Oh and he is so damn handsome as well :)
When I saw him in 1917 I was obsessed then I watched the history of the Kelly gang and he’s so incredible in that and Pride and now I should watch his newer stuff
To be honest I have had many encounters of men like him lol. They are the sweetest people ever lol . But they just move on to the next thing if they are hurt trust me. lol I had to break it off because of his gf lol
Initially I thot this George MacKay is the guy who plays Jay in EastEnders. Then I took a closer look. Nope. Jay is played by another actor Jamie Borthwick.
What was a letdown in this film was the implausibility that Jules on his birthday after his comeback performance at the club is suddenly all alone in the change room. None of his friends are there none of the other performance are there that just wouldn’t have happened and that was very disappointing in otherwise fantastic film.
I love him but lost interest when he's was answering questions about privilege...Yeah nice, but try explaining white privilege to a girl that was not taught to read until 12 and then homeless at 15. Yeah that 'privilege' must have missed me completely 🙄🤦🏻♀️
Your white children won't be shot for wearing a hoodie. Cops won't kneel on your neck when you, or them, are arrested. White priveledge isn't about *class* or money it's about the ways in which your skin tone prevents you from systemic abuse and racism.
@@tinafittc I don’t care English is not my first language anyway. And I still understood better his statement about privilege than you, but what can I expect from people like you
I'm confused about why you take issue with George's answer. If you can, please elaborate because what you commented sounds like a red herring to be honest.
George MacKay is one of the biggest gifts the universe has ever given us. The movie Femme is breathtaking
Can I stream it anywhere yet?

I grew up knowing people like his character and he nailed it. So did the writers.
Yes! I am usually not attracted to men like that but Preston was something different!
eww
I agree. I think because it's our lovely George as Pres, I find the character very attractive.

What a brilliant actor! I loved how explain how integral the sex scenes were to the story and how they represented the power dynamics at play.
