I was blessed to be able to intern at Barefoot before Eric’s move and got to hear all the Undertone gear and it’s all amazing sounding and expertly crafted. The whole Undertone team is great and the gear is absolutely fantastic and built with the upmost care.
All of UTA's catalog is bucket list stuff for sure. Such a great idea to demo them here, not a lot of folks do since it's boutique stuff and not pushed by the big retailers. Big thumbs up Andrew!
Hi @itsstudiotime not one for commenting on videos. Have been listening in my spare time for many a years on the other channel and now this one. Thanks for the insight, share of knowledge. Appreciated! My question regarding these UTEQ500’s are: is there a stereo link on the x2 separate units and if not how is the stereo width / soundstage recording stereo via x2 individual units please? KEEP UP THE WORKS!!!
I bought them around the same time that you. I was waiting for this video. this things are amazing. I have been putting them in different mixes and printing that and is scary good. I might go for the unfair child by the end of the year. just waiting for the faircomp to land so I can see a comparison.
Watched the deep dive video, insane capabilities. Only thing i feel is i would peobably get option paralysis. Especially without visually seeing what shapes i am making. Seeing Eric use the eq analyser was a smart move. ... Just saw the recipe booklet! That was going to be my question. Still i see the benefit from having a API / PULTEC unit so you don't have to think, just push and pull the vibe.
Saw your question and thought I would throw out some advise, check out the Radial Sixpack, one of the most powerful racks which is super important to how your 500 series modules will work and sound along with extra very cool routing built in.@@LBJedi
Silly thing to say IMO. Quite a bit of hardware doesn’t have an output trim. Including that SSL and Pultec EQ in the rack next to the undertones. I have had to purchase several A designs ATTY passive attenuators and additional Mogami cabling to have access to output volume. This is the case for very expensive 19” rack EQs by companies such as Chandler Limited as well. A 10 DB pad is quite thoughtful and may be all that can fit in that tiny 500 series frame. Space and production cost being factors.
@@GreySH101 okay, but in terms of workflow, gain matching is necessary, also for A/B ing. We're in 2024, I think it would be wise to include this in every piece of gear.
Side note: went a bit too shallow on the camera’s aperture on the gear close up shot. Not sure why, but the surrounding gear and your hand being so out of focus kinda made me dizzy 😵💫
Matching eq curves does NOT mean the two eqs sound alike..theres transient response, crest factor, harmonic distortion etc etc ..I call snake oil on that matching eq marketing bs and you will never convince me that this thing sounds like a neve or maag or pultec 😂 like.. please
More Power! I might just make 10 more videos using these EQ's...
Do it mate

The most ridiculously versatile 500 series EQ ever. Amazing!

Loving the new channel! Also love you got to some sound samples in under 1 min from the video starting.
Literally some of the best analog products you can buy today. Their MPDI-4 preamps are insane on drums
I've only heard insanely positive things about those preamps.. They're on the bucket list!

Very nice. Headphones on. Headphones off. Headphones on. Headphones off. Eric is the man!
Very cool, I hope I can find an internal picture of these eq’s. Do they have transformers is what I’d like to know.
Thank you!

These look amazing.
Is this Smell The Smoke - Mary Kutter? Love this mix on this song!
It is, thanks man.
Off topic a little. Have you found a solid use case for the Soyuz1973?
Their channel strip is bananas.
Because it’s sort of yellow?

Couple of these and a couple of the Carnaby's and you'd be set for life on outboard EQs imho
Hi! What mic pre did you use to record the acoustic?
For someone like myself who’s looking to start getting into analog, would you say 500 series is the way to go?
It's not a bad way to do it! Smaller footprint, generally more affordable units.
Cool! Is there a chassis you would recommend?

@@LBJediRadial 6 pack or and even better the Cranborne 500 ADAT or 500 R8!
I was looking at the Cranborne! Thanks😊
I hate 500 series, please make a full rack.
I just might
10:40 Joe Rogan on Acoustic Guitar!?!?
WiNNER!!! 🏁🏆🥇 10:40
😂😂😂
It sounds great, but no output trim, only the 10 db pad. One more step inside the daw, having to level mathc after the fact.
