i think there are enough 29er out there... finally a 27.5 one!

Thank you for reviewing a 27.5 model. Almost everyone reviewed 29 models and it’s not even the same as the 27.5. I prefer the 27.5 because I feel the 29 is not as playful as this model. I have the Expert and waited for good sale during Thanksgiving and I picked mine up for $4100 usd otd. Yes, that’s Expert model. I also had the 2016 Stumpy 29 at 27 lbs with Carbon wheels etc. That bike is glues to the ground and while its good, it’s not as playful as the 2019 model especially the 27.5 model. I don’t flip the lever, I just pedal it up and down unlike my 2016 Comp or my VPP bike that I have to flip to firm settings.

Everyone moved from 26" to 29" and I feel like 27.5 is the perfect middle but all the 29 guys are still screaming from the hills about 29

I run my 29er with an ohlins coil and 160mm lyrik and it is definitely more than a trail bike. This will be my 19 race bike for the ESC enduro races here in the northeast

I bought the 150mm fork, 140mm shock and the LT shock yoke(what the rear shock bolts too) I really like the LT now, you can get away with a lot more stuff.

The points made on "feeling in the bike" are very important to consider when researching the geometry of the Stumpjumper. Lots of other bikes out there (size large) that have 470-480mm reach... but are 1-2° more upright in the STA-HTA... so the actual feeling you get from those bikes is not technically a more slacker, deeper, longer reach experience. Like Palmer said... "it's a precision bike"... if you need a mountain machine to just gobble up terrain go jump on the 29er band wagon. I prefer a more precise and controlled MTB experience... oh, and the bike has to be playful. Proud owner of a '20 Stumpy Expert 27.5.

I have the 29er in the low position and I've had a lot of pedal strikes in places that I've never had them before. Annoying at first, but I do LOVE the way this baby turns with it low. I stuck with it and eventually learned the perimeters; backpedal when going over high spots... it's all good.

i bought a stumpy new in 2010, and i am still riding it! it is really an exelent bike and i love to ride it. the problem now is that i don't have the money to spend on a new bike even tho i want to migrate into 27.5 wheel size

Here here...I have an 09 Stumpy i still own and can't manage to let go of. Great bike needs a new drivetrain now, but I did just buy a 19 SJ just because they are bad ass. Same name 2 different bikes but love them both!!

Do you guys plan to re-test the Evil Calling? If this video is any ‘proof’, I think it deserves a review through the lens of 2019 to see if the geo, specs, price, performance, and features (or in the case of internal cable routing, lack there of) stack-up against the competition and whether it still competes. Yes - the design is two years old, but it’s still being sold in the current iteration and is therefore still a bike people want to compare against like the Stumpjumper. (Also, it would be helpful to have a section at the end of these videos where you discuss the feature bike in contrast to other bikes. You do this already a little bit, but it’s still difficult to read between the lines of each review to figure how bikes compare).

I have the carbon comp 29r version of this bike. Love it.... I’m not sure why but the bike carries speed so damn well...just eats up trail. It’s not a downhill sled, it’s an all around trail bike.

I’ll never buy a pedal strike machine. It’s not the strikes going up that is the problem, it is when you go to put the power down while going down in order to get extra speed and you get a sniper hit. It is one of the worst crashes bc you have no idea it’s coming. I just can’t take that risk. One thing I don’t get- it has a 65.5 head angle and 150 mm travel and doesn’t plow? I don’t get that. Short wheelbase maybe?

Speaking of those “BIG” 2.6 tyres! The Spesh Butcher and Purgatory are NOT BIG tyres I compared my bikes! If you measure them up the Butcher 27.5X 2.6 is 61.5mm wide as a comparison I’m running on a 29er a Magic Mary 29x 2.35 it measures 62.5mm both on 30mm interims same pressures. The side wall on the 29er MM is less 2mm smaller than the 27.5 Butcher as well.
No sure how the Schwalbe 2.6 tyres measures up on width and nor Maxxis but Specialized tyres are definitely on the small side!
Would like to hear your guys opinions on this ground breaking scientific research!
Keep up the great work, love the bible vids!👍🏼
