Great video and enjoying the series! Fire is such a unique and challenging element for me, so I'm looking forward to practicing in some of the ways you suggested. But worth mentioning here for viewers who may not know: White sage is an endangered plant sacred to indigenous people in America and around the world - so I encourage ANY witches, U.S. based and not, to look into where their white sage comes from because it is typically being harvested illegally in a disrespectful way that strips and hurts the plant, and by extension the earth. Or do what I do, and use another variety of sage, like blue sage, which is just as useful and not endangered, or even a different local plant that has a personal connection with your life to deepen that practice! :) Similarly, generally, "smudging" refers to a traditional practice done by indigenous people that is a more complex ritual than the simple smoke cleanse shown here. I encourage people watching who may be sensitive to this concern to use "smoke cleanse" as a more general term over "smudging," or look into their own cultural history and ancestry for more specific, accurate terms for smoke cleansing that they may be able to do to connect better with their path/ancestry. This is also what I do, and I'm working on incorporating my ancestor's traditional methods more into my practice as well! I do not mean to appropriate the native Americans culture, but we have come to use the term smudge instead of the more appropriate term smoke cleanse which was traditional to witches certainly in the UK and has been practiced for centuries.
@@GinnyMetheral For sure! Curious then: If smoke cleanse was traditional to witches in the UK and has been practiced for centuries, why not use that term instead of smudging, which is directly linked to an indigenous practice quite different from the one you pictured? Certainly terms can become popularized and integrated into the vernacular with a different meaning from the original; language evolves. But in magical practice, it seems to me that using terms that are not quite right historically or culturally actually may have a significant impact on one's practice, especially if one is sharing that spiritual practice with others in an educational way, in essence, showing something traditional to one practice while naming it something entirely different from another practice.
Oh beautiful Ginny, I love your cozy space for your practice. I understand deeply the need for a space away from family in order to practice without disruptions or distractions. I've got five sons and a husband knocking around my home and do find it difficult to do what I need to do sometimes. I think to some degree even if they were to leave me to it undisturbed, just feeling their energies around me alters my energy just enough to lessen my own connection to my higher self. I really should build myself a "she-shed" or some place to work in peace. Thank you for your content. You're such a gift.
Great video! I would like to mention that smudging with White Sage is a closed practice for Indigenous people. It is usually harvested unethically so I highly recommend using different herbs for smoke cleansing. Lavender, Mugwort, Rosemary, and different kinds of sage are better options that White Sage. However, still a very informative video. Thanks!
Another thing I would like to add on is that it isn’t just from the closed practice of the indigenous, it was also an aspect of the closed sector of Hinduism. Hinduism had utilised white sage for about 400 years so I want people to know to respect that origin and be careful sourcing sagebrush in general

Hi, you mentioned your coven, but then said you don't worship deities, don't those 2 go hand in hand? Just learning so I'm confused. Trying to find my way.
A coven is simply a group of witches who work magick together (providing greater power). We do not worship anything in ours. Each coven is personal to those who are in it.
Sadly I don’t but you could try looking on facebook or making a facebook group for local witches and recruit a coven from that! I might make a ‘how to form a coven’ video so do watch out for that
You do understand that, to a non-Christian, these statements mean nothing? Criticizing others’ beliefs won’t make them convert, if that’s what you want them to do.

The sage I buy is grown commercially in the UK and I urge people to ensure that their’s is commercially farmed rather than wild picked.

A coven is simply a group of witches who work magick together (providing greater power). We do not worship anything in ours. Each coven is personal to those who are in it.
They don't necessarily go hand-in-hand A Covet Can be used to describe a group of witches or a group that worships a deity
