the last time i watched this anime was back in 2016. i wanted my friend to try it. like me,he was a big fan of oldschool anime so he was always down to check out whatever cool gems i found. unfortnaetly he died nearly a year ago. watching anime like this will always remind me of my buddy. this op just hits differently now
Loved this anime when it first came out and had to wait 2-3 weeks after the anime aired to get a fansub VHS tape mailed out to me so our anime club can translate.
I never really watched this properly, only few parts of the manga, but I read that this manga was quite influential on that generation's perspective on love relationships in Japan.
It's a strange feeling. I saw anime for the first time in the 90s, such as Ranma, Kimagure Orange Road, Mobile Suit Gundam 0083, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080, an English dub of Laputa, Akira, and Video Girl Ai. Watching these gave me a great feeling of nostalgia. The creators of the anime (and the manga on which the respective ones were based) really knew how to tell a meaningful, emotional story. I bought into those stories so much (minor spoilers: I felt betrayed by you know who at the end of 0083; at felt so said at the end of Video Girl Ai; KOR I want to return to that day lives with me still; Laputa was just beautiful - music, scenery, innocence, characters, story).
‘Ureshii Namida’ - ‘Happy Tears’ - is one of those anime and jpop songs I find myself listening to constantly. The full track is over 5 minutes long and I love every moment.
I remember my classmates back in highschool were talking about this anime. They were trading anime VCDs back then. Too bad we didn't have one as dvd players were still pricey. I always wanted to watch this along with Dna and Ah My goddess
I’ve gone my whole life assuming videos about girls like Ai Amano were otherwise like this: a compilation of unrelated vignettes and scenarios about the girl and her approach to life.

Wow! such nostalgia! I remember seeing the fan sub for the first time in 93' Hey! you wouldn't happen to be "Garland Operator 7-G" would you?
I preferred the manga tbh.
Yeah. Be an Otaku in the 90s was so Great
Goodtimes
Watched this series one VHS sans subs back in the day. I still love it. It's like John Hughes meets anime, and the ost was amazing!

I watched this about 4 months ago and God, this opening almost brings me to tears. I'm still yet to buy and read the manga! Oh gosh I miss Ai :
Do yourself a favor and read it, if you haven't already. It's still one of the best rom-com mangas and holds up even to this day.
I love this anime so much and have Chobits vibes because of it. ^^
This anime gave me Maison Ikkoku vibes all over
That's funny cause I wrote an essay comparing chobits and VGA when I was in uni! Probably my best piece of work haha
This opening theme always makes me happy.
I sing it with spontaneously made up English lyrics
I really like this anime.

I’ve gone my whole life assuming videos about girls like Ai Amano were otherwise like this: a compilation of unrelated vignettes and scenarios about the girl and her approach to life.
