Most likely the case, as the biggest battery in a Samsung watch previously was Galaxy Watch 5 Pro at 590mAh (which I've been loving for a while now and shall continue to use). Ultra also has many more features than previous models, and it's obvious they're gunning to be the Apple Watch Ultra for Android. It's also replacing the 'classic' and 'pro' lines so they needed to make a huge evolution like this.

Everyone seems to forget that Samsung had the smart watches first and started with a square bezel. After Apple copied Samsung they went to a circle bezel. So who copied? Apple

Maybe you forgot or don't know but Apple has this little product called the iPod Nano. Wrist bands started being made for it and ppl started using it as a watch. Even though it wasn't made for that Apple started making watch faces for it. So that's how that started. So, when rumors started circulating that Apple was working on an actual watch guess what? Samsung started rushing to make their own to beat Apple which they did. But, it was poorly designed and resembled the square design of the iPod Nano. A yr later or so the Apple Watch was released which was much better cause Apple was working on it longer not rushing to be first. Just like a lot of other products /designs companies rush with their half baked products to beat Apple to claim they were first, they re so innovative and Apple is following /copying them which wasn't the case.

I'm perfectly fine with the square body. People forget Samsung was making square phones way before apple. I actually think this is the best looking Samsung watch yet and I think the square body gave a lot of options for the updated goodies like the battery. IMO

The design looks so awesome.
A watch band is a watch band. Just use a pair of sissors to trim excess off no big deal.
Rotating bezel doesn't make sense for a Ultra rugged watch thats going into so many different environments like salt water, sand, mud , etc.

About the watch 4, I have a few doubts.
1. Can I connect the watch to a Samsung tablet?
2. In the Bluetooth version, can I use the browser only by connecting to a wifi and not to the phone?

I’m currently using Apple products: iPhone 12 Pro Max, watch ultra, air pods 2 pro, etc.
now it’s time to switch sides; I alternate between Apple and Samsung every 4-5 years and was using a Note 9 before.
I preordered unlocked 1TB Fold 6, Samsung watch ultra, air buds pro 3, warranty, and some accessories.
Cant wait to try them out.

I go back and forth. My last was a note 9 and before that was a iPhone 7S plus.
My server at home handles my files, photos, surveillance camera feeds, notes, etc. It has 120 TB and 3GB internet speed up and down so I don’t need to subscribe to cloud services. Switching is easy.

About the compass....are you sure you didn't have the watch near a magnet? Like a phone case, iPhone, or camera mount? I used to have a magnetic phone case and it would mess up the read if it was anywhere near my garmin.

I like the circle face on the square body as the square body does not dig into your wrist/hand when you flex your hand palm out for various tasks as much.

Proprietary band shortens the lug to lug dimension which makes a big watch fit better on a small wrist. Honestly it looks good on you.

Strap adapters are available on Amazon. Neither my Ultra or adapters have arrived yet so no telling how well they work, but there is hope of using all the 20mm bands I have with it.

Also...not compatible with other version chargers and reportedly can't use wireless charge sharing from phone. They evidently moved coils further into watch for sensors.

The orange reminds me of the original Omega Planet Ocean watches. Extra band size could be geared toward wet suit wear or wearing over long sleeves, cuffs with gloves on....etc....hence outdoor watch.

When I'm on my bike, or driving, I use my palm to rotate the bezels for phone calls and alarms because I can't look down paying attention to what I'm doing. I can't just twist my wrist and point my other finger and look where my finger is going to navigate the screen use that. So it will still be an issue.

I just ordered mine - and subsequently found out that the new Watch 7 series does NOT support reverse charging from the phone (S24 Ultra) and they highly recommend only to use the original charging puck and not the older pucks from like Watch 6 Classic (which I'm trading in) - due to heating issues - Not sure if this is really an upgrade ?!? but I got an amazing deal which was hard to pass up . . . we'll see when I get it in my hands Great video as usual!! 👍

the squircle design is not new. they've done it before on the 2017 gear and the design has existed long before in conventional watch design. Samsung adopted it in here to be able to fit their bigger sensors.

I think the square body is for the increase in battery. Not sure how big of a round watch it would take to match the battery size. As for the round Face, I’d say it’s based on the code / existing UI is all round. Too much effort now to go all in on square.

Regarding the bands - there seem to be a adapter available on amazon that allows to use those 22mm standard bands. I ordered one of that as I always use a metal mesh band fitting my wrist size (i would rather need XL 😂)

I would assume the square body design also allows for a bigger battery (in comparison to Watch 7). I do prefer round watches. The rotating bezel on my old galaxy watch still feels very good, and I would love to have that too. But let's see - I ordered one. Less than two days of battery is "rugged" lol. Garmin giggled.
Currently my Epix is at 85% battery and has 27 days remaining before needing a charge. I'll be at Whistler next week and I still don't have to think about charging.

A rotating bezel is a moving part that would compromise that rugged nature of the watch . How is that so hard to understand ? I never use the one on the 6 classic . it's easier to swipe the screen . That's why i traded mine in for the ultra. The new design is much better

I have a watch 5-I do NOT believe the oxygen readings, as I have a separate pulse oximeter...so I won't believe the snoring/apnea numbers either-if you're that concerned, go see your dr and not a gadget that's not a professional. Besides all that, great presentation.

It was a great review of the product. Back in the day, Samsung watches were square/rectangle. But for Samsung to say the square design was to fit a larger battery is a joke. The Watch 5 Pro has the same size battery. I wish they would have just updated the 5 Pro and renamed it.

ummm, not liking the orange! Never have liked organge but I'm sure there is some kind of wilderness thing! I ordered the Watch 7 and they offered a second free band. It just ended up in my cart on checkout. I did it 3 different times because the extra band was a different style in M/L. I only order the S/M because my wrist is so small. So I got to pick a band in the size and color I wanted and there will be this second useless band in a color and size I don't want! Go figure....

nice video but I have to add this. I still have my Gear Sport, same Squircle design with rotatating Bezel. Its been my wish that Samsunk would bring it back for nearly 8 years now and I preordered the Ultra last week. I WAS SOOOO EXCITED. The next day the first hands on review came out and I cancelled my Ultra . NO ratoating bezel and to add insult to injury, the crown is just a push button. I thought for sure it was going to be a scroll as well, giving you the option of using the bezel or the crown. Instead we get neither! New processor is nice but again, its a watch, not a gaming device, software upgrades are nice but they are software. The new hardware was what I wanted and Other then a Squircle we get nothing tactile. Even the color choices are a huge disapointment. How do they not offer the Color TITANIUM like we got with the Watch 5 Pro and that the Apple Ultra is sporting.

Software fix stuff. That thing is beautiful. Looks different than any other watch on the market. There'll be plenty of third-party bands and someone will even make a PIN to fit in there so you can use your 20 mm and 22 mm bands. All of this stuff is easy fixes

It’s amusing how most UA-camrs fixate on the shape of this watch. Circle in square case, circle in cushion-shaped case, weird, bla bla bla . Yet, if you look at regular, real watches, there’s a plethora of different case shapes housing circular dials. Take Audemars Piguet, for instance - their iconic Royal Oak is breathtaking. It’s octagonal, yet still captivating. And then there are brands like Bvlgari, Patek Philippe, etc. There are thousands of cool-looking watches with non-round cases and circular dials. Just some food for thought!
