Got a 1995 Ford F350 myself. Common leaks on these engines are: turbo pedestal seals -ICP sensor -Oil cooler seals -HPOP seals -IPR sensor -Oil reservoir seal -Oil dip stil O-ring to the oil pan seal (some will say motor will need to be taken out for that but I does not. There are videos here that show you what kit you will need so you dont have to remove the engine and oil pan). Not saying that your truck will need all of these seals and sensors replaced, but these are just the common areas to look into. Have fun with the truck man!!!
Love the truck man, if you plan on keeping it, get a cam position sensor and keep in the glove box, it can go out like a light and fail to start or just randomly stall while driving. Miss my 96 obs, but have a 93 idi that I'm slowly fixing up.
I feel ya. I have 97 7.3L 4x4 CrewCab XLT. AKA THE UNICORN TRUCK. Amazing truck but somewhere I have a leak near the back of the motor and I have not been able to find it.
My 7.3 is a 01 a little newer but the only leak I’ve had was my break line rusted out but that’s just from being up north for its entire life n the age of it. Beautiful obs by the way
Hey bud i have a 7.🌳 97 170k 4door Dually I just replaced the pedestal I got it from thoroughbred diesel and the deleted exhaust back pressure valve was made by Garrett. FYI that was why it was leaking in the gully between the “V”. It was super cheap. It was the hardest thing I’d ever done. Not sure if that’s your issue but it could be. I resealed the turbski also while it was off the only think I didn’t do was a wicked wheel of some sort. My truck is grandpa truck. All it has is an intake. Idk much but I have 2 12 valves dually bull noses. Will definitely start following your channel. #DieselGang
The power might be lack lustre but god damn they last forever I bought mine 16 years ago, guy I got it off of used it as a bush I use it as a farm truck it’s got over a million km on the engine and I have had no major problems besides rust and a turbo seal
Love the truck debating on whether or not to even get a diesel! But would you recommend an 7.3 or would you recommend an 6.0 durmax cummins etc any tips are helpful!! Aiming for used
To be honest I know people hate them but I love the 6.0 Powerstroke the most. I've had 3 and all of them have been GREAT! Granted they have all been "bulletproof". If you just want a work horse truck with lost cost I would probably buy 7.3 Powerstroke.
One thing with obs 7.3s you will never see the full 100hp off a tuner it will only go to 80 hp since the stock injectors are 90cc newer ones will see the full 100-140hp
dude really? i understand why leaks could be bad--BUT i had a 7.3, 10 years--it always leaked a little something most all the time i owned it--just keep fluids checked and run the dang thing---the 7.3 is a beast--and yes you still got a good deal i think.....i sold mine due to it just sitting since i work 2 jobs now--my third job i used the truck so--sold it....worse thing is letting it sit and only driving it once a month or so----loved my 7.3--slow? YES---loud? yes--cranky?--yes BUT it pulls ANYTHING you hook to it! take baby steps fix them when you get time--you will get it as close to NOT leaking as an old deisel can get----PLUS i had to keep telling myself its 1000 pounds on the front end! dud thats a LOT of weight!--oh and i rebuilt the front end couple years before i sold it......hope you get leaks fixed!
Had a 02 24 valve Dodge, everything went wrong with it, had some stupid dowel pin come lose in the engine, big money, automatic transmission was a joke, pretty sure there was a passage to Narnia in the hole in the dash, won't own another Dodge that's for sure.
Here's the thing about the 7.3 tdi. She WILL leak boss. Key to your headache is actual blue hose fuel tubing. Your regular old black hose wont work and will crack every time. And never let your dual tanks ever get below 1/8 because the priming situation is hell. She's a classi small semi. Keep the fuel filter clean and never try to cold start with other because you can say deuces to your air filter housing. Only thing about the classy broad is when your reat main leaks, gotta pull the block.
Please change the name of the video to your pros and cons of owing a early PS. Truly jealous you can wear a t shirt in December. Pour maintenance by previous owners is not a downside. Its an upside for you negotiation wise. Appreciate your opinion. All being said change title. "My opinion on a 7.3"
Common leaks on the 7.3, intake plenum boots, fuel bowl seals on drain valve, turbo pedestal seals..
An about every oil pan ever sent off the assembly line.
And the stock up pipes are ass
600k on my 02 7.3 and not a drop of oil leaks out of it. Sure I have fix oil leaks but dont leave oil any were.
I wish I could say, no leaks on my old 1995,.... but the old beast has had it’s fair share to repair. And it rhymes!
1st is Low gear.. start in 2nd
Thanks for your service boss. Recognize the bracelet.
It was our pleasure!!!
I have a 1997 7.3 with 154000 miles and have no leaks any where. I love my 97 crew cab, 4x4, 7.3 long bed. ♥

The idi is so underrated. Slow as hell, hard to kill. I’m looking for the 94 turbocharged idi(the transition period before the power stroke.)
There was a guy, can’t remember his name on UA-cam, but he built an idi that would smoke pretty much anything it went up against. And that was the 6.9
It's part of Ford's R.P.S., rust prevention system, and wouldn't be a Ford Diesel if it didn't leak.
Cummins are worse. My grandpa was a dodge man his whole life. Used to say if they ain’t leakin, they ain’t runnin haha
My '84 IDI leaks no matter what temp and it use to drive me nuts, but I eventually learned to accept it.
It's not impossible I've got a 97 7.3 5 speed 4wd with not one oil coolant or powersteering leak.
I feel ya. I have 97 7.3L 4x4 CrewCab XLT. AKA THE UNICORN TRUCK. Amazing truck but somewhere I have a leak near the back of the motor and I have not been able to find it.
Go back to stock lights ! Nothing worse then dark headlights on a beauty truck, I’m young but I’m old school, my 01 7.3 will always be stock lol
My 7.3 is a 01 a little newer but the only leak I’ve had was my break line rusted out but that’s just from being up north for its entire life n the age of it. Beautiful obs by the way

Good info
Also h-pop (high pressure oil pump) is notorious to go out on these
It's not the pump that lecks it's the line on the bottom that lecks.
Yay finally lol there awesome trucks have had mine for 10 years and only has had very few problems of owning it
The power might be lack lustre but god damn they last forever I bought mine 16 years ago, guy I got it off of used it as a bush I use it as a farm truck it’s got over a million km on the engine and I have had no major problems besides rust and a turbo seal
Mines got over 500k and it doesnt leak at all and runs like a champ refuses to black smoke
Mine has 260,000 she pisses everywhere but doesn’t have a problem starting or running all day. They are not too hard to wrench on either
Please make a vid on how you sand the head lights!!! I need to do it to mine and just am scared to make them worse
Alex Whalen get new ones at CP addict

My biggest oil leak was dip stick to oil pan. Pain to do but replaced it with Diesel ORings fix.
You need to put an exhaust on it. With the intake pushing more air and the tuner raising egts
thank you for your service brother
I'm looking forward to rigging up on a 1997 7.3 dully
One thing with obs 7.3s you will never see the full 100hp off a tuner it will only go to 80 hp since the stock injectors are 90cc newer ones will see the full 100-140hp
Just bought a 95 F350 about a month ago. Seems like the radiator support shearing on both sides is a common occurrence.
Just got my 7.3 OBS been driving it 140miles a day! Champ!
all the soot could be the up pipes
dude really? i understand why leaks could be bad--BUT i had a 7.3, 10 years--it always leaked a little something most all the time i owned it--just keep fluids checked and run the dang thing---the 7.3 is a beast--and yes you still got a good deal i think.....i sold mine due to it just sitting since i work 2 jobs now--my third job i used the truck so--sold it....worse thing is letting it sit and only driving it once a month or so----loved my 7.3--slow? i want to do a 4x4 swap but i maybe as well just get a different one with a manual and 4x4
I'm going to start following
did you end up keeping or selling it? i got a 95 if interested
Sold it but always looking for an OBS lol
Once you fix the lecks u can stop it from lecking again by keeping up on maintenance. I have a 00 with 140,000 and not a single leck
I've got a 97 7.3 5 speed I can drive around fine in 2nd and it go straight to 4th just fine
I love my 7.3 250k no leaks.
How much for the truck
Lol my 7.3 had 1 leak so far. I fixed it and now it's she running super strong 😍😍😍
And mines the 97 ambulance package navastar international 8omm gerett stage 3 power supertech chip pull package and slipkit trans
7.3 idi, 180k. no fuel, oil, or coolant leaks at all after i did valve cover gaskets
What size is that air filter collar?
To be honest haven't measured and it's getting upgraded right now so I can just go outside to measure it right now
I wanted to get one but I'm 8 hours south of home and cant measure it
I still use the ashtrays
Didn't really hear the pros and cons just a bunch of blah blah blah , dude talks too much with no real point
yup
Still selling?
That truck was stolen totaled a while back
“Leave the flashlight right there.” 😂😂😂😂
Whats the horsepower tune switch?

Skoop_SMG
What tune is on it?
Not sure what company the tunes come from but its: stock, high idle, 50, 70, 100, and 140 horsepower tune
Couldn't help but notice the guns.
1st gear is just for towing. Start out in 2nd.
The 12 valve Cummins is the best motor ever made 7.3ls sure there great but I won’t own another one
Had a 02 24 valve Dodge, everything went wrong with it, had some stupid dowel pin come lose in the engine, big money, automatic transmission was a joke, pretty sure there was a passage to Narnia in the hole in the dash, won't own another Dodge that's for sure.
@@fordbossss how long in were you of ownership? How many miles?
Just jump straight to 2 gear
Idk how a 350k mile stock 7.3 is a persons dream truck but u do u
Beautiful car!
That’s 7.3 sweat.
Really
And dont start in 1st, or even 2nd gear, especially in town with red lights all the time
Mine has 389k. They dont go over 400k they will roll back to 300k
Really?
" Am i short ?"
Yes i beleive thats what she said
Two kids later… it must be the motion of the ocean 😂🤣
May be a fuel leak off the pump
I just bought a 2001 F350 crew cab long bed 4x4. Hope I made a good decision. Oh yea it’s a 7.3

Just bought an f350 dually with 150k, for 500 bucks.
People that buy a work horse truck and complain about minor things on them are annoying, if you don't use it as a truck why get a truck
Got the same truck..yeah she leaks..like an old Harley..
Just replaced a high pressure fuel line. Did that make a damn mess when she blew
Check out Buffalo Bus. 1995 7.3 powerstroke..short vid..of an old girl redone
Sweating horse power
