I've just finished it, and I liked it, and the creativity, but I don't think I enjoyed it more than the first. I did still love the writing though, Ransom Riggs' style is wonderful!
I loved the looks of this book as well, great photo’s but also just a beautiful book in general! I also like this one a lot more than the first one, but strangely enough I gave both books 4 stars on goodreads. The first one is more of a doubtful one, the story was so different from what I expected, but felt like had I expected it to be more like that I would have enjoyed it much more. (This one would probably be more like a 3.5) The second one I just really loved, but not enough for a full five stars (so I guess this one would be more going to a 4.5) I feel like I loved hollow city so much more because of the same reasons you mentioned. I liked the writing style better and the whole thing with the pictures just worked better in this one.
1book1review yeah, i would have liked that too! i was okay with it being there, but it definitely wasn't my favourite.. not every book nees a romance..
I haven't started the series, but I do have the first book from when it was first released. I have no idea why I didn't read it then and I kind of forgot about it, but now I really want to.
It's interesting how the concept for Ransom Riggs' books were put together. I believe he has an interview out now on unconventional books being part of the future. Maybe he took so long writing the second book because he was busy getting Tahereh Mafi to marry him. ;) JK LOL
Haha, maybe. I love books that experience with various forms of narration! I always buy them when I see them. And I think that's why I love J.S. Foer so much!
I really need to read these series after so much hype about this book on booktube, especially you recommend it :) great review !
I think you'd really enjoy them, because you also enjoy books that are written in a 'not-standard-way'!

Yes, I love how he can form sentences and put a story together.
Thanks for doing this review, I have to say, the book looks incredibly nice, love the interior motto :)
Me too. I looks so beautiful all over!
I enjoyed the first book but I wasn't sure whether or not to continue with the series. This reviews makes me think maybe I should.
Do, I have the feeling this gave me what the first was missing storywise. And how can you resist this beautiful book?

I like that the story is so different to other YA novels. I even wish he had left the romance out.

i cant wait to read Hollow City! I loved the first book, I got sucked in and didnt want to stop reading.
Then you'll enjoy this one, too!
I hope to get to this book soon! Nice review!
Thanks! And on the plus side it brings me up to date on this series :D

I have books like that. I buy them when they come out and then they get neglected for other books that are just fresher in my head!
You just made me want to read this really fast right now :D
Not feeling sorry :P
Ahhhhh i need to read this soooooon!
Yes, you do ;)
Interesting review. I was not really a big fan of the first book. It was good, but I was not planning on reading this one. Now, I might have to.
Maybe test read the first few pages and see if you get into it.
