I love how Alec slowly collapses. It’s just a wonderful acting choice and shows how Alec is falling apart in a physical way- slowly, then down to one knee because he’s still fighting, and then the final collapse.
Did you know that Alec actually feels more pain than jace does because of this? A parabatai is half of you that’s how you’re connected so when jace died, that part of himself was gone and so it caused alec to feel pain because he can’t feel his other half(jace). I literally researched it I’m not kidding
also probably the adrenaline and shock that one feels from being stabbed would make jace not feel any pain, and he would've died before the agonizing pain would normally return. Not saying this would be a "comfortable" death, I'm assuming he would be choking on his own blood, can't breathe, etc. For Alec though, that wouldn't be the case.
Also, not only did the part of Jace’s soul in Alec die, the part of Alec’s soul in Jace also died. That part no longer had a living host and parabatai soul sharing can’t be reversed. When Jace was dead Alec lost one and a half souls.

This is completely off topic but the way Harry Shum Jr says "Alexander. You ok?" It just gives me a good short moment to chuckle because the difference in tone between when he says Alec's name and 'You ok' are noticeably different But back to the point: I love Harry Shum Jr's acting and how extra he is! Its one of the best parts of the show Also, This just broke my heart. Jace and Alec as parabatai just gives this relationship in the series that just makes me cry I swear to god!
This part absolutely killed me, even rewatching it, knowing that Jace comes back. It’s just so devastating to see Alec’s pain as he looses his parabati. It was interesting to hear about how painful it is to lose them before, “he dies and a part of me dies too” and all, but I had so much more respect for it after seeing what it did to him. I truly wish I had a friend like that, I could endure the pain for the sake of the friendship, it would be worth it.
I love Clary and all, but I'm SO GLAD they split her reaction with this. Sometimes the parabatai bond is pushed to the side in favor of other things, but it DEFINITELY wasn't here. The acting is so good too; it's like you can physically feel the pain, emotional too, that Alec's in. Breathtaking, and so glad it wasn't just brushed past :)). Also we get to see concerned!Izzy and Magnus, which we don't get often on the side of physical injuries because Alec doesn't get injured much lol. Even in 3x10, we only get to see Magnus and Jace's reactions, and just for a minute. Seriously, love this scene

In Cassandra Clare's latest book Red Scrolls of Magic, there's a sweet scene where Alec teaches Magnus a whole bunch of runes.
