Its usually always better to build your own. I started doing Kettlebell swings. Once you get upwards of 40+ lbs they are over 100 each. So I made my own with barbell weights and pipes. Fraction of the price.

I love this! You don’t always need super fancy gear to stay in shape. I have 2 adjustable dumbbells that only go up to 25lbs. I’ve made progress on my strength already. I want to buy an adjustable bench and eventually upgrade the weight on my dumbbells and I know I can make even better progress!

If you want to save a few £ on weight plates, you can use a masonry bit to drill through a big rock then simply thread the cable through and tie a knot. Also swap the chain for 550 paracord.

I might build something similar in my garage. I’ve just bought a lat pulldown machine from Amazon. It was cheaper than buying the accessory for my power rack. And I’m very excited for it. I’ve been using the cable pulley system in my basement for a while. I used a steering wheel cover as a substitute for the rope. Tied the pulley to the raft. I’ve officially retired it. Took it down and maybe I’ll use it in the garage for a different machine that I might build.

We did those in Poland in basements in social housing blocks in the 90s. Nothing new. Plus usually all of the weights were made by a neighbour, father, cousin who was a turner.
