Thank you for the update YES man. I thought it was a solid review, the numbers where all over the place. Watched about 10+ of them yesterday. Keep on keeping on.
Good video, but, memory heating up the traces back to the CPU and killing the IMC? No, just no. I'm sorry but this is quite literally nonsense. Firstly, while warm air blowing on the memory sticks can possibly cause the memory chips themselves to heat up past the point of stability (especially when overclocked or pushed to the limit of stability), but the power consumption increase is negligible, meaning the traces are not heating up. I guarantee you if you were to place a temperature probe on the CPU socket pins, there'd be no measurable increase in temperature.
I consider used parts if there is a better value... but these times are long gone, at least where I life... And if I am spending around or over 1000€ I want a warranty... I also saw a nice table that shows what proportion of the full RTX generations you get for what price... The 5080 lands at about 45%, that was previously a 70 class GPU...
Bryan, what do we miss out on Win 10 compared to 11? Do we have auto HDR for example? I've jumped to Win 11, and is crap, but I don't want to miss out on new features and technologies.
Thanks for taking the time but It doesn't matter really, NVIDIA's own cherry picked benchmark indicates a 15% gain, so even if you squeeze a few points more than other reviewers in some games because of tweaks, the average remains the same, which makes this GPU not decent as you say but mediocre compared to other generation gains.
9:50 I have an issue with this theory. The air coming out of a heatsink is only going to be ~40c-45c max, then let's say that heats the ram to something like 60c-70c (which is very warm for ddr5 and it's also measuring the temp on the inside of the chips not the whole stick.) the heat that can transfer from that into the CPU will have so little of an affect considering the memory controller is IN the CPU next to the hot cores. The controller is way more likely to die from overvolting over a period of time than any hot air from a GPU.
I don’t know how you find the used bangers in SE QLD? I have no idea how to find the banger deals in Sydney. I’m sure they are there but I’m just bad at looking for them 😂
Wait, is that really a thing? Can memory traces really heat up the IMC and eventually kill the cpu? The hot air blowing through the memory can cause for memory instability if it really heats up the memory a lot.
As a 4090 owner I would never purchase a GPU that uses more power than a 4090. I cross my fingers and hope that there is a performance increase and power consumption reduction on the 6090. Nvidia is selling space heaters disguised as GPUs now.

My issue with the bottleneck theory in certain games is that you release a new GPU that is only 10% faster than the previous GPU, but it requires more CPU overhead? To put it bluntly, that’s horrible! I don’t think we have nowhere near hit the limit of raster performance. I think that’s just another nvidia is making to justify the poor performance of the 5080. As much as I love respect your content, I find really hard to trust one persons findings, from dozens of other reviewers, especially when your saying there were extra steps you had to take to insure you got this performance. It should just work out of the box, right?
By using lower settings this test basically make it less computing power competition and more memory speed test. This will make 5080 gain more against 4080 than other testers show.... So it's showcase of best usecase... Future games will need computing power first and not memory speed. It's not trashing it's facts.
Im generally a staunch advocate of buying used GPU's, but the problem with considering the used market against a 5080 is this: There is STILL nothing better, at $1000 USD, than the 5080. 4090's are nowhere near that price-point used, and sure you could consider the 4080 at maybe 850? But the price to perf is nearly identical at 850 for a used 4080 vs 1000 for a 5080, and the 5080 is NEW, with (like it or not) an improved feature set. Nvidia knows this. It's a bold corporate chess move on the market. I wouldnt have expected anything else, and honestly how could you argue against what theyve done with zero competition in this area? Here's hoping AMD and Intel can breathe some life into this category in the coming years.
Honestly, people are commenting without knowing what they are talking about; they hardly know you, yet they judge you by their moral standards if you do not align with their feelings. In my opinion, you have always recommended AMD over NVIDIA due to pricing, and you have delivered objectively. If you care about ray tracing, just go with NVIDIA. If you care about raster, go with AMD or Intel for now because it is what it is. Its that simple
what I dont like about the way Nvidia is handling the 50 series deployment is that they seem to be just doing dev testing by sending cards out to "influencers" and collecting data from them they should have already systematically know since they engineered and should have fully tested things. it really feels odd
Nice video and points well taken. I think this launch was rushed by Nvidia and some more performance could have been gained by software optimization and hardware calibration as non FE versions seem to have a larger gap in this generation vs. past generations. However this is still a disappointing generational performance uplift - mainly driven by GPU nod size limitations at this generation - where price levels are not substantiated. It would have been a win if the RTX 5090 MSRP was at 4090 level and RTX 5080 at 900-950 range.
The only UA-camr who put a disclaimer in the front, and then stress about we the viewers to form on opinions as his video is just another opinion. Tell the viewers he is a used part advocate but understand the new parts users mindset. Kudos.
Your 1440p and 4K numbers are alright, don’t have the time yet but you and level 1 had the best numbers in terms of parity against the 4080s and my running theory is you both used pretty good high latency ram (6200 28cl) as opposed to others that used the standard (6000 30cl), so I do think the 9800x3d is not bottled necked and that granular prince gains shows for a good number of games depending on overall ram
I think expectations this launch were just really high, especially with the whole 4090 performance for 500 dollar claim. So imagine the rude awakening when the 5080 not only failed to surpass the 4090 but barely beats out the 4080.
If you don't live in America and can't get the founders edition the real msrp is 1200-1400USD plus 15-25% VAT, due to the strong US dollar it's going to cost more than 30% extra for this 5070 class card that they branded as the rtx 5080 and charge 1400usd for!
5:30 it`s inevitable GPU driver performance should also count in the GPU tests. We could get another B580 overhead moment Blackwell drivers really overload the fastest current CPU 9800x3d even at 4k in some titles that require a lot from the CPU
Bryan, people got sick of this lying about MSRP. You are not getting it for $1000. AIB cards for some reason costs additional $200-1100 to FE. There was no such huge difference in price before So It's a lie and fake to deceive community, reviewers got talk point about MSRP(which is not exist) and review of each card looks more positive.
A lot of reviewers don't use the ingame benchmarks they have some other kind of standartization due to benchmark apps not matching up with actual ingame performance generally games are little laggier in actuality, you do use those maybe that's it. Windows 11 could also be the culprit as you said that os is trash. 5080 is also kind of a paperlaunch just better than 5090 numbers are still low. The aib price leaks I've seen shows a real msrp of 1200$ and up just like 4080 btw that 1000$ is a little green lie it seems. Reviews are meant to be an out of box experience they can't all be wrong so something is wrong. Either the chip is crap, drivers or something on the motherboards is affecting the cards but none of that matters because customers will have the same issue unless it's addressed.
Exactly. A lot of people aren't tech savvy and they won't tinker with settings. Out of the box experience must be good enough, preferably most efficient. You can then tweak settings to get the most out of the parts. Additionally I would try to guess, that Nvidia messed up drivers, cause it isn't possible for 5080 to be CPU limited at 1440p and have lower uplift then at 4k in comparison to 4080. 5090 have probably the same issue.
According to Steam survey, only 4% of players play in 4K. I hate the obsession that reviewers have on 4K. Most people that are not buying the RTX x090 cards don't play in 4K.
Then OC other cards to proper comparison. I'm, but 5080 is a dissapointment at msrp. Especially when you know Nvidia did stop production of high end 40 series. And why? To let stock dry up to keep prices high to charge more for 50 series.
dont worry about the haters. yours was one of the few legit reviews with proper testing. you chose to include only a few games but with proper verified testing rather than just sloppily publishing 30 different charts. Its funny a lot of the reviewers who were super negative on launch day are now acting all excited after testing overclocking. Just shows how they didn't even bother to explore things like overclocking and undervolting before trashing the product.
Here's the thing about Win 10 vs 11, though, and IMO this is going to become increasingly important. Other reviewers aren't going to be going back to Win10 any time soon, and most end-users likely won't be either--especially by the time Microsoft ceases mainstream support. So if you want your results to more closely resemble what others folks (both reviewers and general users alike) are going to be seeing with their new hardware, you may want to consider benching under Win11 in the future. Even if you choose not to use the OS on your personal, everyday work system.
The new releases can change the value positions on the used and new market... The 5080 doesn't seem to be enough of a gain to shake things up much... and at a price point where it won't matter much to the rest of the market. I'm here for the value. This just isn't much to be excited about and I don't think it will change much of anything in either the new or used market.... Every 50 series listing on Newegg is already sold out as of the time of writing this comment. As always, Tech yes with another straight and honest review for "free"! Now there's a great value.
I'm hardcore, I wouldn't be sending the top 10-20 reviewers a GPU to review. Then they would have to pay, and wait til the rest of us get a card... Then see if they want to lie....
Great follow up content Bro. Bigger channels could have pushed out numbers on both win 10, and win 11 in the testing timeframe. A great deal of users are still using win 10. A longer time frame for testing the products would be awesome for sure.

The 5000 series is an absolute insult to gamers. We are getting table scraps, and relying on software gimmicks to fake performance gain is dishonest.
Pump in the power and call it a new card.
Bryan, what do we miss out on Win 10 compared to 11?
Do we have auto HDR for example?
I've jumped to Win 11, and is crap, but I don't want to miss out on new features and technologies.
It's a refresh of a refresh. It's the 4080 ti super!
Frame gen on or off?
Here in the UK on overclockers the prices start from around £1.3k for a 5080, the 5090 is starting around £2.3k and up.
Love that Star Fox music at the end!
I’m sure they are there but I’m just bad at looking for them 😂
Well said!
You're the best channel mate no shit. Keep doing, you man.
Reviewers > Influencers.
Much of a muchness. 16 GB is not enough for the price of the card.
Sooooooo glad I pulled the trigger on a good deal for my low end gaming laptop with 4060 instead of waiting for the 5060! The 50 series architecture could/should have been named "Disappointment".
12:41 1000$ USD for a 16GB 256BIT gpu which is 15% better than the 4080 Super and cant even beat the 4090.
It costs the same as the 4080super so.. you are still getting more for the money. Would you prefer $1400 5080 that would give 40% performance above 4080?? BTW if you already have 4080-like GPU then you shouldnt even be looking for an upgrade.. these gpus are still extremely powerful.

I paid 750 euros for the Evga FTW 3 1080ti + Evga G3 750 watt power supply. It was a steal, coming from a 1070, got double the performances.
This was a great follow up.
Thank you.
I've always enjoyed your videos keep up the great content 👍
Can't wait for rtx 5060 8gb with 3% more performance than rtx 3060TI.
Can you now actually post thermals inside your sff case with these cards.
Good review, thanks.
So yeah, it's good to see second review of this GPU with whatever is going on.
once a 5080 lands in my country, it will easily be $2.4k+ . these GPUs are only really affordable in North America
I'm so glad you brought back the YES ;)
$2000 for an 5080 here in Aus is wild
No jump over 4090 perf makes this an easy skip since I’m already on a 4080.
That's why I come to your reviews. Aussies tell it like it is. No drama or bs. 👍
This one does, other Australian channels... not so much.
I feel like the real play is to either just buy the 5090 or buy a used 4060~4080S
You just dont know the pain we feel over underwhelming generational improvements 😢😢
/S
what I dont like about the way Nvidia is handling the 50 series deployment is that they seem to be just doing dev testing by sending cards out to "influencers" and collecting data from them they should have already systematically know since they engineered and should have fully tested things. it really feels odd
5070 was apparently 4090 performance 5080 should be better
Windows 10 is going to reach end of life in October of this year, that's honestly sad that we'll have to deal with Windows 11 from there on out.
If you debloat it and make a few changes here and there it’s really not that bad. HDR support is also significantly better than 10 too.
Who told you you had to switch?
5:30 it`s inevitable
GPU driver performance should also count in the GPU tests. We could get another B580 overhead moment
Blackwell drivers really overload the fastest current CPU 9800x3d even at 4k in some titles that require a lot from the CPU
Tech Yes City demonstrating again that he puts in way more work than everyone else.
Bryan, people got sick of this lying about MSRP. You are not getting it for $1000.
AIB cards for some reason costs additional $200-1100 to FE. There was no such huge difference in price before
So It's a lie and fake to deceive community, reviewers got talk point about MSRP(which is not exist) and review of each card looks more positive.
Man I would love getting used parts but in Turkey they are more expensive than new lol.
I was curious if the 50 series made it into the Passmark high end video card chart so I Googled “GPU Passmark” and the top well known GPU’s of the G3D mark hierarchy in descending order are: 4090, 4080, 4080 Super, 5080, 4070 Ti, 4070 Ti Super, 7900 XTX, 4070 Super, 3090 Ti.
The 5090 isn’t listed yet.

-Asus TUF Gaming TUF-RTX5090-32G-GAMING $1999.99 (2xHDMI 2.1 & 3xDP)

@9AM on the dot, the founder's edition: -Nvidia FE 900-1G144-2530-000 $1999.99 was the only remaining GPU so I immediately put it in my cart and a notice said something like wait while finalizing and after some swirling, a problem with order popped up. A refresh said it was sold out. My experience was over in 15 seconds. I know…that’s what she said. LOL!
Maybe it’s for the best because now I’ll just wait to see how close the new AMD RX 9070 XT will be to the RTX 5080 and what the price point will be. Heck I only need it for COD Warzone @1440P anyway. I planned to give the 5090 to my son so he could pass his 4090 down to me, and I could finally retire the EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC Ultra 11GB. WZ updated a few days ago and the FPS dropped from 120 to below 100.
I was so ready to upgrade my 3080ti...
Same.
According to Steam survey, only 4% of players play in 4K. I hate the obsession that reviewers have on 4K. Most people that are not buying the RTX x090 cards don't play in 4K.
the RTX 5080 doesn't offer a generational leap but it's still a decent uplift when overclocked
Then OC other cards to proper comparison. I'm, but 5080 is a dissapointment at msrp. Especially when you know Nvidia did stop production of high end 40 series. And why? To let stock dry up to keep prices high to charge more for 50 series.
Seems like people are noticing the 5080 has a lot of overclocking headroom. I think the card will age well.
dont worry about the haters. yours was one of the few legit reviews with proper testing. you chose to include only a few games but with proper verified testing rather than just sloppily publishing 30 different charts.
Mr Jensen, when will an xx80 card be able to beat the previous gen flagship again?
Jensen Huang : IMPOSSIBLE without AI!

Yes, fake frames shouldn't count because they only work on specific games that are designed for them.
Rasterization works on EVERY game.
The 3080 didn't beat the 2080ti or TitanRTX by much in raster performance, the 3080 pulled ahead in RT and AI.
I was just searching for exact comparison. Thanks bryan!
this is obviously more than NOT worth it for the price, never ever
they gave the reviewers all the cards, not any left for sale.
A longer time frame for testing the products would be awesome for sure.
thank you for your logical input Tech Yes Scientist! 👍

The only competition is in the data centers
Bryan, think of it this way. Only reason you are ok with 5080 is because it has no competition. Image if AMD made a $1000 card that’s 30-40% faster than 7900 XTX. Would 5080 still be decent ?
This is rediculous. Imagine a world where . Real world bro. Just copped a 5080 for 1000 bucks. Overclocks great and I'm stoked.
@@kamodo00It's not ridiculous at all. You spend a lot of money so you will cope to justify your purchase. This card is a bad deal, it's a paper launch and not having competition isn't making it better. If the RX 9070XT is as good as the leaks say in that it matches a 4080 in ray tracing and in raster beats it then I would buy one. If it doesn’t live up to the leaks, I would keep my 4080 until the next gen.
I don't know, where did you get those leaks, but I saw about 7900xt with 4070 Ti RT. Some outliers could be about 4080, but not many. That was RX 9070 XT. RX 9070 should be 4070 Ti raster and 4070 super RT. I wouldn't set to high expectations, cause it is better to positively surprised.
