Ive had this issue since middle school, it is so damn frustrating to get so up in your own head about something everybody does, there is no reason to be self conscious about this and yet I am, it sucks to live life this way.
@Jack I drove from Toronto to South Carolina with my wife back in 2013. 17HR drive!! Only went to the washroom on 1 Stop.. 🤦♂️🤦♂️I've had this issue for 45 year's now. Sucks BALLZ.

Fighting shy bladder is one of the hardest things you can do when you're doing a randomized drug test in the military. They stand over your shoulder at the urinal to make sure you're not cheating.
@@Ymf207 How I did it was I drank so much water that I couldn't hold it anymore. I was still standing there for some time even though I had to go so bad. It was so painful that I was sweating. Holding my breath and counting to 40 a few times worked for me every test so far. The guys that work the drug tests have normally seen this before so they're nice and they tell me to take my time, they run the water in the sink for some background noise. That's nice because now I'm not worried about them hearing it. Not ever avoiding public bathrooms is how I've been working through it. It hasn't been getting better but I've made some progress at least. I just remember this one thing every drug test. If you drink enough water, you will go.
Well, I tried what I read the other day and it felt like the biggest relief of my life when I suddenly realized I was effortlessly flowing, it all started when something struck me after I go'ogled Beck Reznark's guide and now it's on demand for me lol
I wish to eliminate this problem from my life unfortunately it gets me stressed up.....would be great man. It's already a step forward that i'm posting here ...never imagined it.
I never really tuck to the breath hold technique. If you've been stood in the cubicle for 5 minutes without a stream developing there's no real point in continuing to stand there getting all stressed out and flustered. It's ok to have a misfire. Recovery is knowing that it's ok not to pee, it's ok to go to the toilet attempt to pee and not be able to... when this is your attitude towards peeing you'll find that you peeing more freely.
Hi Mike, great videos! You definitely have a good outlook on this. I've had this problem myself for at least ten years and I feel as though it's stopping me doing so much and it's even changed my mental perception of myself. I've tried hypnotherapy and regular CBT therapy but that's not cracked it. I think graduated exposure and attaching less importance to the problem is the only way forward. It just seems like a daunting task until I've made some headway with it.
Ha I can't believe people are talking about this. I freaked out last night trying to use the urinal in a restaurant when I was sort of forced to go out to dinner with my family, whom I love. It wasn't anything personal against anyone, I was just totally run down and didn't want anyone in my face anywhere that day. I go to the toilet and there's no cover anywhere. It's bright lights. No shadow or anything, and all I could hear was the crowd in the restaurant making my head spin. I couldn't relax. The funny thing is when I'm going I don't care who's there but its just the release. I just want some peace so I can get my head together. Unfortunately it can take a lot of peace to get my head together!
Cheers mate. I'm glad you liked the videos, I spent close to a year preparing all the content that went in to them, so it's great to get some good feedback.
Hey Mike, Question, You say its o.k., no pressure, if you have to return a little later and try again, no big deal, but how do you do that when your driving with a couple other guys and you stop at a rest stop, now your pressured to go immediately, because very soon your all back in the car and wont be stopping for another 3 hours. And your friends think your a freak cause your not going. its freakin torture. Thats why i feel like if i ever were facing prison, i would have to just check-out. I cant beleive how crippling this makes me feel, every damn day.
I’ve thought of this so many times. If I were to ever go to prison, I wouldn’t survive. Not because of fighting or normal prison reasons, but because I wouldn’t be able to pee
i know your comment is six years old. i hope you found an answer till today. but one important step for me was not making shy bladder a secret anymore. start telling people that are close to you. they will understand, nobody wants you to suffer. in the case of the car trip, you could maybe tell the others you need to stop more often at rest stops because of miss fires. wish you all the best
@@stikbothd2623 literally my biggest fear and like you said, not even because of the prison aspect but because of the stupid bathroom. It just increases anxiety making it worse, since I’m always paranoid I’m going to break some crazy law that I don’t even know about. I avoid driving because I fear if, say I accidentally hit someone or get in a fatal/serious accident and get locked up. Even in a holding cell at the police station for hours/a night would be impossible. Literally all of my nightmares involve being somewhere not close to a safe bathroom. This condition is awful and I’d never wish it on anyone.
I have paruresis but not severe. I spent 3 years in prison. It was not a fun experience in the least bit. Most of the time, I had difficulty urinating and usually using the facilities consisted of either using the block showers, waiting until my celly was asleep, or asking to move into a corner cell. I was in both county & state prison. However, eventually I just started to relax a little more, although it took some time. Luckily prison toilets can be flushed constantly to minimize inmates ability to flood their cells at least in the institutions where I was incarcerated. The noise did assist in my urination. I would also wait until I felt like my bladder was going to burst, but I don't recommend that becuase it may cause physiological damage. My advice, don't do anything stupid if you have a shy bladder like me.

Sacral nerve stimulation with a pacemaker for bowel and urinary problems. Did anyone ever try this?
