Breath hold saved my life, its like you let your body to feel again, you even feel energized for hours after the breathwork
Thank you so much kind people for you breathwork suggestion
I would also suggest to approach the breathwork in a more meditative manner hence the counting or visualize something nice, you will feel the energy flow in your body right at the time that your body is asking for air and i never felt more alive than that moment, its like the life force comes back and as hard as it is to hold the breath during that moment, if you can hold it just a bit more before grasping for air your mind will be blown by the positive impact it will have
    God bless you

This is the best explanation I have seen. I was doing exactly what he said not to do - I was trying to hold my breath for a long time. Now I know not to. Thank you 👍

As someone who has had a lot of success with the breath-hold technique, I want to reassure people that the convulsions and the throat problems... While they do happen to me on occasion, that is usually only in the most stressful of scenarios. For me, as I got better at the method over time, in more relaxed scenarios such as a large yet not completely full bathroom, the breath-hold serves as more of a relaxation technique to sort of jump-start my ability to start urinating.

    Very helpful!
I would love to share how I do breath-hold (step by step), it may be useful for some people. It takes me less than 40 seconds and the discomfort is almost 0

       1. Calm yourself down, take nice deep breaths. (this helps a lot reducing discomfort while breath-holding)
      2. Exhale around 70% of the air out of your lungs and stop (or hold) there.
      3. The discomfort will start rising, stick through there. You may feel your body starts gasping for air, it means you're close.
      4. Push nicely with the bottom of your stomach (like when you're pushing while shitting)
      5. You'll start urinating, once you got a nice stream, inhale normally (and gently! a big breath can cut the stream)
      6. Practice, don't get frustrated and most important, if you need time to catch your breath, please stop and try again later or the next day.
I used to practice 2 times a day. Don't know if all bodies react the same way, but in my case I mastered it in a couple of days. Anyway, try and practice without forcing or pushing your body to its limits.

Me too, its hell for me. I travelled to Spain from the UK in Feb and I wasnt able to urinate for around 13 hours (VERY uncomfortable). Paruresis is taking over my life now, i'm 22 and should be living my life to the fullest but its effecting work, socialising etc, which I am sure you relate too. I'm currently on a waiting list for CBT, but I need an immediate effect as it is literally taking over my life.. have you tried this method? Not sure if its actually effective..
