  • When weather interrupts our original plans, we duck into a well-protected gem of an anchorage, Buckle Harbor. We paddleboard in the anchorage, take a hike on the island and even find a few surprises.

I imagined the door was a pathway to Narnia or another whimsical place 🚪 🌲 ✨

There were so many little fairy houses, it felt a bit like we were in a fairytale!

Former New Hampshirite (Errol) so I take it no black flies when you were up there or you would have been carried away.

Ha! No blackflies that late in the season but the mosquitos were something awful that day. New Hampshire black flies are really something! We lived in the north country for 4 years and the upper valley for 5 and the blackflies in May and June are horrendous. There is a reason that Bens bug spray is made in NH!

@@AbroadReachTravel Is it "Ole Woodsman Dope" by chance? Stuff stunk to high heaven but it worked.

Oh no, I’ve never heard of that! Bens is the brand. It’s a national brand but it was originally manufactured in Littleton, NH. It too stinks like crazy but works wonderfully. We can get away with “no gnatz” in the south which smells better and is a little more natural but in New England you have to have the deet!
