My dream daysailer is a Leonardo Eagle 54, beautiful along similar lines as a very small J class and just manageable shorthanded (selfish I know but a guilty pleasure) ... .and then you show me this Spirit ....of course much bigger but absolutely stunning, both inside, outside and sailing pleasure and of course requires a few more hands to sail her but wow what a testament to fabulous design, technology and craftmanship. Sadly not ever likely to be able to afford such a beauty of a "daysailer" so ......one day maybe the 54.
Great video as always! Good mix of racing, "classics" and news, smart to leave the schedule in the description of the video. I'd like more "gadget/gear tests" if that's possible (and more racing...)?
All very fine to talk about the heritage of Gosport. Nowadays here, you can't even get people to come and work on your boat. Quite clear that this Spirit was not made here. Once this country country had a mighty marine presence - not now.
Saw the Geist at Ipswich being prepped. Soon as I saw it I said to the wife prettiest yacht since the Js. Now I know why . She is spectacular in person and a credit to British craftmanship. In the same class as Rolls Royce and Holland & Holland. Id love to go for a sail on her but as Dart18 and 505 racing was my limit 30 years ago id have to be limited to be a happy passenger.
unquestionably beautiful. Thanks for showing us. That furling mainsail looks like she might add to one's job list when you get into port though. Best wishes to the owner.
The Spirit is a fabulous piece of floating art... but... the reality is it's a massively expensive day sailer. You'd struggle to do an overnight sail in it, never mind any sort of proper passage.
Great video. About the Spirit 111, J-class was my thought, association, before you mentioned it. Does this boat comply with the J-class measurement formula, even when slightly shorter LOA? (Yes, it's beautiful. The interior is not my thing - taste: let's agree to disagree. Yes, it looks like beautifully done and expensive.)
We usually break out various features from each show for other parts of the channel such as boat tests, America' Cup, Offshore. More content shelves coming as we built our library - Thanks for your support, keep watching!
I am a great fan of the J-class yacht and have seen this Spirit before and thought: Great! somebody is carrying the torch of the classics beautiful design, but... Great craftsman ship, a lot of design development, etc., but in the final analysis it leaves you with a feeling that it came off of someones design software on a PC somewhere. There is nothing organic about it....and the S-design..? and what do you do when you have 10' swells..?
Why do they never say what IS the environmental impact is, from construction to recycling these "green" energies built from plastic boats? Not to mention the lithium batteries. I already miss the time when ecologists were allergic to the petrochemical industry and nuclear energy.

Wow! What a beautiful sailboat. Thanks for this video. What a dream machine!!
Excellent! Keep them coming. I love the electric boat stuff. I dream about converting my 51-year-old 43 foot sailing yacht to an all electric.
Ok, 9 million?,well, the interior shows it. Wow, what a boat!
Great channel, quality content and journalism Matthew! I hope that PlanetSail continues to grow and to see many more episodes :-)
Just beautiful
Great film Matthew and what a yacht the 111 is. Thank you for the mention of Endeavour Quay and it’s rich heritage. See you soon.

Glad you like it. Keep watching...it's coming!
Excellent presentation as always.
What a Beauty …
Great show thanks from NZ
Another great show thank you
That RIB looks like an excellent coach boat. Safe, Reliable, Low running costs, etc
& The biggest perk: Quiet

Beautiful boat.
Good work fella!
Wow! That Spirit!
I just hate the transom shape, but the rest of it is a credit to Spirit Yachts. Really impressive.
5 people to sail it...1 person varnishing it permanently...
“The owner is a young man in his mid thirties!!!!”
bitcoin buble probably

Can we sail London to Miami with this J-class ?
Great video. Is it possible to break the large video down into smaller chunks for future reference on individual topics?

The flag in the water is not the best view of this boat.

Hey are there any other people than white that allowed to participate
Robert Takatsu what kind of a person sees a magnificent work of art like the spirit 111 and comments this?
