    Hey so, a little "fun fact" about this scene in the book.
    In the book, Rhaenyra makes a solid point about the number of Dragons. She said only 5 of the 13 are truly war ready for anything. She said she herself wasn't gonna be good to ride anytime soon, due to the premature, failed pregnancy.
    Most of her sons and Daemon's daughters were too young, and so that left only Caraxes, Meleys, and Seasmoke, with Vermithor and Silverwing being potential allies. That would've been their solid team. (Wild Dragons of course would've been an extra effort, never having been riden before)
    But, if I recall her official count, I think only Caraxes-Meleys-Vermax-Arrax-Moondancer were truly considered (they all had riders and were of decent age)
    And that's 5 Black Dragons Versus 4 Green Dragons, and I can't stress this enough but, one of those 4 is granny-Vhagar. More battle experience than all the Dragons on Dragonstone combined.
    As Rhaenyra said in the books "that's Five against Four, and one of those Four is Vhagar. There is no advantage".

    • @isabellajensen9480
      @isabellajensen9480 Рік тому +11

      I think Meleys and Caraxes together would have a fair shot against Vhaegar especially as their riders are more experienced than Aemond. That's IF they have the right strategy.

    • @thalmoragent9344

      @@isabellajensen9480
      Well, Daemon's strategy was to basically kill himself and Caraxes in a Suicide run in order to take Vhagar down. And even then, Vhagar did more damage to Caraxes, with the impact of the Lake actually being what ultimately killed Vhagar, due to her massive size and old bones.
      So, the experience of the rider only goes so far, and I'm sure Aemond's been riding and bonding with Vhagar for years now. He's likely ridden her often in the past 6 years, plus the extra year during the Dance, making it 7. Sure, he's not been bonded with her as long as the other 2 but, it's not like he's a fresh new rider at the outbreak of the war.
      So overall, I'm sure they'd be able to handle him yes, but one of them may end up dying, along with their dragon of course. And keep in mind, Sunfyre and Tessarion would also be counted as well (we know Helaena doesn't fly much, but its worth a mention) though Dreamfyre is still a rather large dragon, likely bigger still than either Caraxes or Meleys. Or at least around their size.
      Still, Vhagar in this hypothetical onslaught over King's Landing won't be fighting alone, is all I'm saying.

    • @wafflingmean4477
      @wafflingmean4477 3 місяці тому

      And that's not even accounting for Dreamfyre who should be bigger than Meleys or Caraxes, also on team Green. Sure, we the audience know Halaena probably won't ever ride Dreamfyre into battle. But Rhaenyra barely knows Halaena. She can't count on that.

      If they're the same age, then wouldn't Cannibal likely be dead? And even IF eating dead Dragons and humans has allowed him to live a bit longer (maybe magic dragon flesh and blood is healthy if consumed) then still, he'd be just as heavy and face the same issues (and admittedly, some advantages) that old Vhagar has currently
      Also, do we know if Balerion had green eyes? And did he have Red Highlights like Drogon does, or no? Perhaps Grey, even? Or just all black?

      I know, but he's not the only Dragon that's been on Dragonstone doing his thing, and it's not age but size that makes a Dragon droopy and sluggish (so large that it's a task just to rouse and fly). Silverwing is only a bit younger and smaller than Vermithor, but since she's of a more slender build, she's not as ragged looking as Vermithor or the likes of Vhagar.
      So, even if Cannibal were to live longer than Balerion, if Cannibal is Vermithor or Vhagar size, then we gotta take his age into account as well. So, how does this all fit?.

    Very good, I love the dragons of GOT. You should make a video about the four dragons of House Targaryne that seem to have been omitted by all other makers of GOT material. These were the Four that came with the first Targryans when they escaped the Doom of Valyria, along with the fifth dragon, Balerion (later known as 'the Black Dread').
    These four dragons journeyed to Dragonstone, and lived there for years before the conquest, and although of the five dragons, only Balerion was still alive when Aegon began the conquest a hundred years later, the other four having since died of old age, I feel they are still worth mentioning. At least one or two of them would have laid the clutches of eggs that produced Vhagar and Meraxes.
    These four dragons were all named after the gods of old Valyria, and Viserys names them all during that bath scene in season 1 of GOT. They are named; Ghiscar, Valryon, Essovius and Archoni. He tells how after these four dragons died, their skulls were later moved to the Red Keep, and kept in the throne room. Their skulls were some of the biggest ones there, and his father the Mad King would give him a sweet if he could successfully name them all.

      Yeah but he’d still be dead. He’s the oldest of the wild dragons and Sheepstealer was born when King Jaehaerys was still young. This puts the cannibal at 70+ years old at 130 A.C. Which means by 300 A.C he’d be around 250 years old. We know Balerion was around 200 when he died of old age which makes it unlikely that the cannibal would still be around.
      Plus dragons don’t like the cold. The only reason why he would have left Dragonstone is due to the death of all the dragons, they were his diet. He’d most likely fly to Essos and perhaps Valyria in search for more prey.

      @@joshuaadams6565 Balerion didn't actually die of Old age alone the wounds he received from the journey he and a Targaryen princess had to Valyria never fully healed and it was said he only took flight once after his return from this event implying that he may not have fully died of old age but of the wounds he received, plus nobody knows how old Cannibal actually was he is a very large dragon but some Dragons grow faster than others meaning he could have been similar to Danys dragons who grew very large in a span of like 2-5 years for all we know Cannibal could have been a 20 year old dragon that was abnormally large because it was wild and ate other dragons. And in regard to your Skagos comment about Dragons don't like the cold. That's not really fully True. Every dragon that went to the North was completely fine except when they attempted to fly North of the wall. Skagos also is a place where lots of Dragon Glass is found meaning Skagos is a volcanic island or at the very least has volcanic activity on it somewhere making it prime territory for a dragon despite it being further north

    As much as the fandom seems to really like these dragons the only one I see getting really any screen time will be Sheepstealer, he's the only one that actually affects the plot of the Dance. Grey Ghost is explicitly an elusive dragon that avoids human interaction and Cannibal doesn't offer anything to the story besides extra lore, so unless they significantly deviate from Fire and Blood, they probably won't show up.

    • @joshuaadams6565
      @joshuaadams6565 Рік тому +6

      I don’t think they’ll show up a lot but the producers have said that the wild dragon designs are their favourite which means at the very least they’ve been designed for season 2. I believe we will see them for a scene but as you said, Sheepstealer will be the main wild dragon that we follow throughout the rest of the story.
      However if they introduce a dragon they’ll most likely tie their story up at the end. We probably will see Greyghost die and the Cannibal fly off.

      I'd argue Nettles is more likely Daemon's own Dragonseed tbh, from the descriptions we have. But, who knows. If Cannibal was ever given a proper name (The Cannibal being his title) and had a rider... imagine how THAT would've altered the war.
      Though I admit, the battle of Tumbleton would've been more believable and epic if he was involved. The idea that Vermithor somehow couldn't handle Seasmoke just never sat right with me. Even with Tessarion involved,(who we don't even know if she was aiding Vermithor or Seasmoke) it seemed odd to me that she was the only one to survive till morning.
      Now, had it been both Cannibal and Seasmoke VS Vermithor and Tessarion (or I guess, wait for Seasmoke and Tessarion to have their little dance first) then I could see "hoary old Vermithor" really duking it out with the Cannibal, and if he survived to kill him and Seasmoke THEN laid down and died, I'd see that as a more fitting end, both by a literary standpoint as well as iconic.
