  • Certain perceptions we have of what we think is real, isn't quite what it seemed. Certain terms and ideas have been greatly distorted because of the inability to be impartial and seek out the truth as it is. The laws of Man and the laws of Religions have greatly influenced our collective consciousness, which created clear limitations on our ability to perceive the world. When a distorted image of reality is given to us as the only possible truth for generations, no one will question anymore the veracity of such claims.

If you are wondering about the Thumbnail of this video, it's quite simple:
The main idea: We live in a society which resembles a house made of glass. We can see beyond the glass, we know what exists outside, but we avoid reality and keep it outside in the rain, while we live in a little bubble of delusions and personal fantasies just to fervently deny reality. We have done this for centuries. We know of all the things that exist out there, but we refuse to acknowledge them and we keep them outside our societies because the laws of Man and the Religious laws dictate what is right and what is wrong. Our collective consciousness and perceptions of reality are illusions and false ideas of right and wrong, good and evil. No one is truly free because some live inside the house made of glass, and others live outside it. We are so close to each other and yet separated by a thin fragile glass of world-views dictated by authorities that forces us to believe in their narrow perceptions of reality. You can go outside or let them in, but the best choise would be to break the glass. The glass is ignorance, which prevents us from being free to follow our emotions, because our societies destroy emotion to create empty vessels and fill them with whatever poison to better control us. They have the antidote, and so we follow their authority and their limited perceptions of reality, just to live another day. Some live inside the house made of glass and will never be free, and others live outside it but stay in the dark and will never be truly happy.
Thumbnail art: The human figure has no gender, it's just a silhouette of a human being, kept outside, desperately trying to get in and be accepted by the society that lives inside in denial of reality. This applies to the concept of Ergi as well - freedom of behaviour kept outside the community, because social norms constructed by ignorance dictate how one should behave, and any "exaggerations of behaviours" that go against illusions of "right conduct" are frowned upon, judged and ignored.

*Please Read:* I've noticed that some people have been complaining "where are my sources?", "you are just saying things that are not true", "I will unsub because you have no sources for this", well, if people had just watched the video till the end, and even the marked points on the video timeline itself, the bibliography is right there and you can check those sources by yourself. This is an academic work with real sources that deal with this subject. In fact, since then, new sources have come out in relation to homosexuality and transgender evidences in ancient cultures, including in Old Norse society, which continue to confirm (and show new and better evidences) what has been told here. Thank you.

The problem is, there are many modern day haters who used norse culture as their religion and do not wish to acknowledge that their heroes were gay and homosexual. I see nothing wrong with being gay, but there are plenty of white guys with 88 tattoos on their bodies and swastikas who love Vikings and Norse mythology but fail to realize that they were people just like everyone else. Peace, Love, Unity and Equality for all. One Love!

According to the sources we have, there was no openly gay or lesbian vikings. Since it was considered important to marry and have children, someone openly only having intimate relationships with people of the same gender would be considered a liability to their family. There is certainly a possibility that honor-killings happened sometimes.
There might have been a gray area that a man could be the “top" with male thralls but not with another free man, while at the same time married to a woman.
The root word to the word angry is the old norse “ argir/ergir”, which was an insult that implied that someone were gay. It was considered a very severe insult.

I’ve always been interested in matters of culture, but most of my knowledge is limited to Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. As an ethnic, religious and sexual minority in my native America (specifically Texas), I’m both moved and delighted by the attention, time, care and effort you poured into your research for this amazing video. I am both honored and humbled to have learned about Viking culture and even more about cross-cultural, religious and historical perspectives about homosexuality. I look forward to learning more from you in the future.

Now, I've read that homosexuality in Rome was about power dynamics. Masculine/dominant and passive/feminine, and therein was found the societal stigma. Citizens would need not fear a loss of face or status if they were the ones doing the penetrating, which limited acceptable partners to lower castes such as slaves, freed slaves, prostitutes, etc. This was also the case in Greece, but they threw in the grotesque practice of pederasty for good measure. This is pretty common knowledge, and is important to note.
Edit: I found a source that goes into greater detail and contains references to sources that specifically reference Ergi as an insult (again relating to masculine vs. feminine sexual dynamics). They're found in "The Unmanly Man: Concepts of Sexual Defamation in Early Northern Society". So, from what I can see... it was all good provided you were the one doing the penetrating, which would by necessity either require you to go about your practices in secret (if you were accepting the submissive role), or limit your attentions to individuals of lower social standing (slaves and the like) if you were unable to find a partner of equal social status who was willing to accept the submissive role.

Political correctness, like all things, has two sides. Of course there are those who negate reality because it does not seem correct to them.
For example, if someone wants to research the relationship between sexual stimulation and power imbalances, the subject quickly becomes sensitive.
On the other hand, PC also has its authorization.
Because there are enough people who like to spread their terrible prejudices, lies and hatred and then still think that this is freedom of speech.

I looked for a place to make a private comment but failed on FB and here to find an email address. I feel relegated to leaving my comments for public consumption.
First and foremost: I thought your thoughts and articulation of your thoughts are erudite and beautifully crafted! Thank you!
***[I see that English is not your first language and I am even more awestruck by your expressing of your thoughts. Kudos to you! I made two (and then three) notes as exceptions and I offer them up, not as criticisms but as small refinements you'd like to hear (if I can be so bold as to imagine).
    1. The word "fail" is not a noun. The word you want is "failure".
    2. The word "evidences" has no or limited use in English. Instead, the word "evidence" refers to any body of facts or many bodies of facts. (An aside: before the internet, I spent time in the library trying to determine the plural of "expertise" and no source listed one. It turns out the plural is simply "expertises" but it's rarely use. )
    3. (This one I add because I already had two to give you.) "Christianity came into the scene..." doesn't ring to my native English speaker's ear. "Christianity came on the scene..." rings better.
[That may be a style thing, a regional thing...obviously, I am only one mere person with the guts to confront such erudition as yours with my trivial comments.])]***

I'm a sexologist with additional background in erotology, so I appreciate your well-sourced presentation of widespread acceptance of same sex relationships prior to the influences of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam as well as the timeline of persecution of both homosexuality and magic. I won't lie, at the beginning when you were talking about political correctness I was getting worried. In the US when you hear people being upset by the concept of being politically correct it's almost always religiously conservative older people being upset that larger society is now holding them accountable for using slurs against people of color, of other religions, and LGBT+. I wasn't aware that the concept was different in other countries but I shouldn't be surprised. The US sadly doesn't get much in the way of unfiltered information about social or political situations from elsewhere unless we go through news from other countries.

I am glad that you brought light to this subject (I was recently debating someone about it), but one thing that people still don't understand is that the concept of masculine and feminine roles were created by mankind. I very much enjoy your videos and they have opened my eyes so much more about my beliefs. Keep up the great work my friend.
P.S. I find it rather enjoyable when the tables turn and wannabe "Vikings" get triggered because their perfect manly man world is shattered.

Masculine and feminine roles were not "created by man", they are created by biology. This is about homosexuality, not gender roles.
Women didn't fight in wars as often for a good reason. That is one example.

I don't know how this video came up on my " UA-camnhit" but it is great. As a gay man raised in NYC by an almost illiterate Irish father ( 2 years of school), name O'Loughlin (in Irish "of the viking") your words "the other side of nature" and then " Pagans and Christians at once" brought him back to me. Once he retired, he loosened up with the insurance of his pension, he began celebrating "Wren Day" which is dressing up as crazy and outrageous characters and dancing around in neighbor's yards to be merry and sort of insane. When he paid off the mortgage and he thought the house was empty, except I was stretching in the "study", after a run, he went around the house with evergreen leaves in a scalding hot case iron pan blessing the home. When I asked him about it half hour later, after a shower, he acted like nothing like that had happened. He was always hospitable and generous with my friends coming to the house but only said " have has much fun as you want but keep your health". Thank you so much as for an hour I spent about an hour in the seamless world of "Christian's and Pagan's at once".
For me it is utterly comforting.
