    as a 30yr veteran of the OR CST, and now a instructor at a local college, i can tell the most important reason you remove jewelry(no fake-nails, nail polish, etc)..is because it has been shown to harbor bacteria. Whether you are open or closed gloving. we also refer the top folds as cuffs, not lips. A very old term ..my OR RN mother(yup..i basically grew up in scrubs) used to use was "miter" your hand..which meant to cuff it. Otherwsie a very good video, with alot of key points.

    P.P.E helps people learn how to not get contaminated and risk spreading infections to others.

    at 5:20 you are touching the non-sterile inside cuff with your sterile right hand thumb as you're putting on the left glove. Doesn't it make it non-sterile at this point?

    • @nursingeducation3952
      @nursingeducation3952  Рік тому +12

      No, because the the untouched glove is completely sterile at that point. You can touch any part of that glove with your gloves hand. It isn’t until your non sterile hand comes in contact with the glove that the inside becomes a non sterile surface, prior to contact, both the inside and outside of that glove are sterile.

    how do you prevent the non-dominant glove from rolling upon putting it on? Is there any other advice for this issue besides sizing up?

    • @nursingeducation3952
      @nursingeducation3952  7 місяців тому +1

      the wrist is rolling up? can't say I've experienced this issue. If it's too tight on your wrist, then yeah, sizing up seems like the fix. If it's rolling because you didn't pull it on fully and it's still a little bit cuffed at the bottom, being more meticulous with the donning of that glove and extending/unrolling the wrist fully might fix you issue.
