Thank you Mr Maximus, Your in-depth, scientific analysis has confirmed my long-held view that Porter-Cable tools from Syracuse are indeed the cat's pajamas. 🥳🥳🥳🐱🐱🐱🐱
I bought a new 503 back in the 90’s. I was tickled to own one. I sold it when I went to college for a career change. I have a used 503 and a 504 that don’t work. They have been sitting under a table collecting dust. I bought brushes to see if it would get me sanding again. I see there is a guy online that will redo your armature if you send it to him. This is a good review video.
Pull the brush caps and use a multimeter and see if there's a resistance across the brushes when you probe on the back of them. Open up the Handel and make sure that the power cord in switch are working to. I've seen power chords at look ok but were internally fatigued and broken
I just got a EHD Model 504 at an Estate sale . New in box ! . Came with 3 small unlabeled White tubes of Lube (chain grease ? ) . Should one warm & drain the old oil ? . Will 75Wt gear oil work for oil ? . Is the Sander "double insulated " ? It was UL cert at that time .

Another great video, Cat. Can't say I've used these in the Cabinet Shop, we used mostly Porter Cable 352's.
Great video thanks. Both look like their built like a tank especially for hobbyists
Totally agree
Show the dust collector model. Nice to see the differences.

Sure is funny looking. Dust collection on belt sanders is kind of a joke anyways. Thanks again
