Doing this trip with my dad in the coming months, this was super helpful! Thank you! Definitely checking out your other videos to get some inspiration :)
Thanks for sharing your hike! I'm curious about when the best time is to go to visit the volcano and whether or not warm clothes can be hired? Thank you again!
Not sure on the best time of year maybe check when the rainy season is but yes you can rent warm clothes with Wicho and Charlie’s they actually include some stuff your your so you won’t need to hire much but I’m not sure on other companies 😊
Just wondering why your backpacks weighed so much. I guess 4 kg of it was water? We did the W trek in Chile and our packpacks were 19kgs for a 5 day trek
Yeah we had about 4-5kg just of water, plus camera gear and batteries add a bit of weight too 😅 apart from that it was just food and clothes but I guess it all adds up especially as we didn’t have proper hiking packs, just our regular ones
Loveeee this!❤ Planning to go this coming July.. Jz wondering, where did u guys leave the rest of your stuff/luggage? Or did u guys pack it with u during hike?
Oh no we did not carry anything we didn’t need 😅 the hike is pretty steep so you don’t want any extra weight! We left our luggage at Wicho & Charlie’s the company we hiked with. You’re gonna absolutely love it! It’s still one of our favourite experiences 🤩
@@sindhurag816 we had a bit of rain the moment we arrived so we couldn't do the hike in the evening we had to wait for the next day. Which was alright as we were pretty beat 😅
Love the ambition! It's definitely possible but you will end up carrying them, the climb is steep for a toddler. Let us know if you do this we would love to know our kind of travel is still possible if we have kids one day!
We found mixed information online about this, I believe that you can but some online sources advise you need a guide, we didn't have camping equipment so it was better for us to take a tour that provided somewhere warm to sleep! There is a checkpoint when entering about 1/3 of the way up, so it would suck to be turned away there, maybe check with a local before you go to make sure🧡
I am Guatemalan and would advise not to… we always hear a gringo went alone, got lost and found dead, rains and cold will kill you if you do not know the way
I would only do that if you’ve walked it guided at least once. For two reasons, one just so you are familiar with it and two just for respect for the locals making a living from it.
WHAT? I was in Antigua studying Spanish in 2009, and nobody was going up that volcano without an armed guard. In fact, just visiting the Cerro de La Cruz alone was a sketchy proposition. Everybody had their stories of random horrible violence even in Antigua (including broad daylight murder); you didn't stay out on the streets without great caution after dark. Hell when we up on Pacaya the ranger checking our permits gave me a long look like he wished he could take me someplace and demand a good ransom. Since when did Guatemala become safe?
Well the world is a different place to 15 years ago. Over all Guatemala is relatively safe however there are still some dangerous places, Antigua was very safe and we felt very welcomed there 🧡
Wow. Then good for Guatemala. Wonder where they got the money to pay for more law enforcement. Unfortunately most of Latin America has become more chaotic and violent than 15 years ago, especially in wake of the pandemic. Thus the steady stream to the US border.
Absolutely beautiful! 👌🏽
Such a bucket list experience 😍
Awesome x 10000😮😮, so beautiful
Insane spot. We still speak about it today. Amazing place
Que bello paisaje de camino al volcán, realmente hermoso, lindo Guatemala.
Saludos desde Nicaragua
Hello Vargas!! It was incredible 😲 an amazing place in the world. But we did some pretty cool things in Nicaragua too 😉 Hope you check these out
@@MaxandJacqueline Si increíble.
Genial yo soy de Nicaragua, Saludos 😊
Ya miré el de San Juan del Sur y otro más, gracias.
Booked an cannot wait!
Yes!!! Let us know if you get a chance how it went. You will not regret it. Just appreciate the pain 😅

That’s so fun! You’re gonna love it! Thanks for tuning in and enjoy your trip 🧡
la primera toma quedó muy épica
Oh my God, the spot was crazy. We were so surprised. The drone almost got eaten by lava 🤣
Awesome video.... what kind of drone do you fly...I have a DJI mini 2 planning to fly it at acatenango...you think it will handle the winds🤔
Thanks Alexie 🥰 yes we have the same drone, depends on the weather but luckily it wasn’t to windy for us in the morning 😊
that was an amazing way to start your day. 🙏
Oh yes a tough one but a good one 😅
Wooow amazing video..and welcome to my country ❤
Than kyou Raul 😀😋

Siento que ellos disfrutaron hasta el último centavo invertido en esa expedición.
Hahaha 😆 yes we did indeed
What did they recommend the weight of the backpack should be?
Hey Alex thanks for checking out 2 videos 🙏🏻 Their recommendation was mostly to bring enough water. I'd say no more than 15kg as its super steep
Hey .. amazing video. What month did you hike ?
Thank you! So nice to hear this feedback. We hiked in August 😁
Amazing! Heard its rainy from may - oct. How was the weather for you?

Excelente y felicitaciones por el esfuerzo
So worth the effort! Thanks Javier
What time of year did you all do it?
We were there in August 😁
Is it clear if I film a volcanic eruption with my phone?
Yes, you can see the red sparks but it won’t be very high quality because generally iPhone doesn’t perform well in low-light
What time of year was that?
Hey there, that was back in early August 😀 if you ate thinking of climbing do it it's amazing!!
That thumbnail 😍
I know! We were quite happy with it too 😅🥹 thank you for mentioning it we really like that
Is it possible to take toddler to see active volcano

Hi, thanks for the reply..I am totally worried about freezing cold..if we go I will update....
@linidevassy2366 it’s quite chilly but with layers it’s totally fine!
Ok yes, enjoy!! @@linidevassy2366

Hi, which month did u come ?
August 😊
@@MaxandJacqueline the weather is always like this in that month? 😨
Not sure we were just visiting we don’t live there 😅
❤
🙏
Hey Guys! Can you hike it up and stay overnight without a tour company? I believe you can but just wanna double check! Thanks 😁

Not even an ounce of lava, lol, just smoke
Amazing spot 👌
tours suck, do it urself
Each to their own I guess. We don't travel with the necessary camping equipment so a tour was the best option for us and many other travellers ✌️
