Every time I watch you work on these big square balers it reminds me why I have a round baler.

The baler should be one fine Heston by the time you get the mods and service done on it. Really enjoy these repair series. Thank you.

Somebody is going to be purchasing a really nice used baler in six to eight months!

Nothing like someone (before you) buying an expensive piece of equipment and then never doing any maintenance on it. Wow. The bailer is probably glad it got bought by you. Fun to watch you go through and bring it back to life.

The plunger rollor bearing caps that you are putting grease zerks on will only get grease to the bearing on the cap side; there are 2 bearings in side of the rollor and its kind of a screwed up design but it seems to work well; we take ours off and repack them every year; thanks for sharing your upgrade videos i enjoy watching them

It will push grease through the first bearing into the second.

I am assuming you have been around the bearing system on the rollor; there is a seal between the 2 bearings so how did you get grease to the second bearing without blowing the dust cover off that the grease zerk was added to??i am not a troll or trying to start a fight; i have and have had several of these balers

@@jeridjanikowski9338 if that's the case I've never seem anything like that. It makes no sense to have a seal between the bearings. I'm just assuming there is a seal on the back and the dust cap on front with either a pair roller bearings or tapered bearings like in a wheel hub. If it's like you say then there will be a problem.

@theghostoflucasclay; that is why i said it is a screwed design; it works well i have never had one fail but it is different; the bearing on the back side we have greased with a grease needle; we press the needle between the shaft and seal; but it is easier to just take it apart and repack them

Little tid bit on the packer crank grease setup... Our 4900 we bought from the original owner, he had issues with the bearings getting greased evenly through the metering block... When they put new bearings in, they 86ed the metering block, and set it up with a zerk for each bearing. They took the time after running it for a few days and having someone watch each bearing while greasing.
Each bearing gets 50 pumps with a manual gun when servicing.. we've put 50K on it with no issues!!
    Grease is cheap!!

take a BROAD POINT black paint or SILVER pen & draw arrows to every grease point & indicate a big "G" on it, + "grease before running - 5-8 pumps"

Hey, long time watching first time commenting, I love 9/10 of your vids. Can’t wait to see the mezzanine fall down 🤦‍♂️ (fucking clowns), that structure is not moving anywhere. Anyway good on ya, and keep on keeping on. Looking forward to the straw.

Only thing missing was duct tape and baling wire since it had good use of muffler clamp

The other 4910 needed work on the ball hitch. It had no grease either. Does this one have a different style hitch??

Baler sure looks dirty, would it be better if you start from a clean baler to better see which parts are getting lubricated?

Just a question, but why is the balers fitted with normal PTO shafts, instead of wide angle ones? Where i come from, almost every baler uses the wide angle ones, with dobble joints in both ends.

    • @America-First2024
      @America-First2024 5 років тому

That’s was the original way to do the PTO shaft before the continuous velocity shafts. 😊

Everyone says used last year . Yet they don't work and wouldn't have last year either, it takes model knowledge to get them perfect, gained by trial and error

You could write a short"how to"manual Wes.You could call it...
"HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR HESSTON 4900-4910 BALERS PERFORMANCE"
    Farmers world-wide would buy it.

can I subject you invest in a battery power grease guns we run Milwaukee here DeWalt can of told us to f-off on some tools we were trying to have warranty work done to them did not like how they treated us here Milwaukee here about it and did come out to the farm and taking care of the problem with DeWalt we have now power tools from Milwaukee now we have not had any problems with them we keep track of the tools now what we bought and to where they are on the farms and in the service trucks to keep one person busy tracking tools down too it does help if the mechanics would fill out the foams for some of the tools they take from the shop question we thought about that too how can they be more responsible for the paperwork. we do pay them for the paperwork extra to track the tools some days they have 100 dollars more a day to be made
