You're suppose to be swapping the inside walls of your nostril by drawing circle with the Q-tip and making contact with the nasal walls. Some rapid test like the iHealth Rapid Test requires you to swap each nostril for 15 seconds. In addition, the iHealth recommends twirling the q-tip while it is in the solution for 15 times.

Government should mail a test to everyone who filed their income taxes . They have everyone's home address and how many dependents live in their home. They are going on vacation again with full pay from Friday to Jan 31st. This small task would be too much work for government workers employed.
I agree with you. But No they want us to go line up in the cold weather to go get tested. I went to go get tested and the staff handed me a box like this one and handed me instructions to go and do it myself. And rushing me out of there. It would definitely be easier if they mail them out or just pick one up from pharmacies or walk in clinics.
We were screaming for these to be used last year at the start of all this as it was a simply tech for people to self isolate earlier on if +. So many of these were thrown out and/or expired. Yes it is not always 100% accurate but enough to provide another layer of a safety check.
In my country we perform the rapid tests just like the pcr and we insert the swab as much as they do with the pcr. As soon as you get used to it you'll be able to do it by yourself, piece of cake. Plus, you'll be way more comfortable bc the results are way more reliable.

Dr Bonnie Henry (medical officer in BC) explained there are different types of rapid tests and BC’s supply of 2 million rapid tests are of two different kinds: 1.4 million require an immovable machine (so are used in facilities and requires a health professional to administer) and the remainder are in packages of 20 which are labour intensive to split apart. BC does not currently have the same kinds of rapid tests that Alberta currently has and that is why BC is not deploying them in the same way Alberta is. When BC receives their supply in January they will.
i dont understand why a bigger province like BC DOESNT have the same kind of tests as AB, and im also surprised that AB and SK have them yet MB is stuck with nothing rn, makes no sense since its sandwiched inbetween 2 provinces with huge supply of them

I took the test and although I was feeling unwell, the test said I was OK. I left the test on my bedside and after 2 hours the second line came up! So time is the essence!

I welcome having this extra tool in the toolbox. But I suspect the people that bother to use these tests and behave differently based on the result are the very same people who are already being very careful in every other way.

I think the issue is, you can't. Seems like the admitted they were relying on the provinces to actually make use of their stock, which they didn't at all, so stores are empty a lot of places. Why did the doctor only do one nostril and she did two? Is it one or two? And switching nostrils won't that contaminate the swab when you try and get it up the second one? This was not clear.
Just had a test done pre surgery and the new tests do not require them to swab your brain. In fact the y swabbed the inside of my cheek then just in both nostrils.
I have used these before I hope they can give them out. Just at a better price maybe free. Right now they are a bit over $300 a box. So $12-15 a test. So we try not to use them to much. If they were cheaper people could use them more often

I wish they had come out with this before now 😢 The beginning of 2020 I was hospitalized with the first strain of CoVid . Now 2 years later I am dealing with the Omicron varient . My entire family has it . We have been isolated for over 20 days .I wonder if you're recovering from CoVid like we are, does it still come up positive ? Those rapid test are inaccurate many times. Friend of mine test was negative, even though he was feeling sick. The pcr test from the day before was positive.

it's INSANE to me that you're supposed to go get a PCR test to confirm a POSITIVE rapid test, but not recommended to get a PCR to confirm a negative. I know so many people who had mild symptoms or came in contact with a positive case, but tested negative on a rapid test, only to test positive a couple days later when they do a PCR.
I got severe covid in 2020 right after a quadruple bypass surgery and was in hospital for a month. It's so very scary out there. It seems random positive tests keep coming up. Designed for asymptomatic ppl more so than for symptomatic ppl. So if an asymptomatic person displays a positive test they have it but a symptomatic person doesn't they don't have it. Not making very much sense there doc. I have symptoms although mild but tested negative. Day 1: feeling cold. Sense of feeling weird in my chest are. Day 2: feeling well one minute the next unwell. Throat is a touch scratchy. Chest feels like it has some burning in it, not much. Some very mild chills Been laying in bed all day bc I don't feel like doing anything. I check my temperature regularly and it's always normal plus I check my oxygen level and always 98. Not really aching or anything. Tested negative and have symptoms so how is it designed for asymptomatic ppl when it doesn't detect it in me. I'm not saying I know I have it but it definitely feels like it.

What happens when you have tonsillitis and you take the antigen test and you got positive does that mean you have covid?

The time is never they don't work. False positive 80% of the time
They want people to take it so that can report an increase in cases and push the 10th booster.
Designed for asymptomatic ppl more so than for symptomatic ppl. So if an asymptomatic person displays a positive test they have it but a symptomatic person doesn't they don't have it.

I have symptoms although mild but tested negative.
Day 1: feeling cold. Sense of feeling weird in my chest are.
Day 2: feeling well one minute the next unwell.
Throat is a touch scratchy. Chest feels like it has some burning in it, not much. Some very mild chills
Been laying in bed all day bc I don't feel like doing anything.
I check my temperature regularly and it's always normal plus I check my oxygen level and always 98.
Not really aching or anything.
Tested negative and have symptoms so how is it designed for asymptomatic ppl when it doesn't detect it in me. I'm not saying I know I have it but it definitely feels like it.
