My favourite Norwegian song :) Floden (River) flows like a river. Emily said after she heard it she couldn't get it out of her head but then she did a more serious version than the young ladies' that she listened to. One, I would say, that goes better with the subject matter. The self questioning of a person of faith why they resist what they believe in, why they don't swim in those waters more. Why, when you know the right thing to do, you still resist? Written by a man who was a Lutheran minister for 15 years it is very interesting. Outside of religion I think that can apply to many situations where we know the right thing to do but still resist. It is a gorgeous version by Emily. I saw where she says she is almost fluent in Norwegian, speaks some Spanish and a little Arabic. Thanks to Brad for recommending this and to Highly for the reaction.
Highly, ever since I found Emily when she covered Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale, I think I've played all, or most, of her covers and her own compositions! I've tried to work out which is my favourite and failed! They're all brilliant and send me into a 'trance', each and every one of them! So thanks for your REACTIONS, she so deserves them plus much much more! At 75 I've seen them all come and go, but i've never come across better! Her beautifully modulated singing, piano work guitar playing with such passion -- at only 14/15 -- is extraordinary, her talent and skill in song writing is Worldly! ~ Richard
For some reason I haven't quite pinpointed yet, this has become one of my absolute favorites from Emily. It might well be the language and lyrics being sung are very hypnotic to me. Thanks for sharing and thanks to Brad for requesting it!
It is indeed beautiful bro. You got that right! I don't care what language she sings in, she moves me every time. Her piano work is amazing. Her voice is the best I have ever known. If I had to give up all but one musician, the choice would be easy. She has been able to bring me to tears since she was 12. No other musician in my lifetime has touched me like that. Great review brother. I told her on her original post of this, and you just basically reiterated it, that one of the words she repeated most often, wondrous, was what she was to me.
Hi Highly, it;s Mick in the UK. Thank you for reacting to Emily singing (and playing) Floden, and Brad for suggesting it. Although I don't understand the language, Emily sings it so beautifully and nails the song so well that we are all drawn in. It would be a perfect entry for the Eurovision Song Contest if it was a brand new song, but at least we the public and fans of Emily can enjoy this song for an eternity. Please keep the Emily songs coming Highly, there are plenty to choose from and the quality is always there? Take care, kind regards, Mick.
Emily is my all-time favourite artist and Floden is my favourite, but it is so hard to chose a favourite song because they all amazing and beautiful ❤🎶🌟
You are so right about that! I love everything she has ever done. My favorite cover though is now her new one Falling. Highly reviewed it yesterday. I listened to it hundreds of times already.
You know, Highly, I used to be involved in motor racing and there's something I've noticed that Emily has that you find in the top drivers, what I call slow eyes! Meaning, I think is to do with probably dopamine during extreme concentration which slows down the brain, although actually speeding up reactions and making it easier to play the faster piano sections of a tune, whilst coorinating her vocals, making the whole thing appear ao simple! Does that make any sort of sense to you? ~ R
I advice you to listen to the original by Bjørn Eidsvåg. It is superior, his voice has far more soul. Emily Linge is a good singer, but it is really, really, really far from as good. Again, you need to check out the original. It is really something else.

this song is a national treasure in Norway. Eidsvåg has written pearl after pearl of songs........
Floden is indeed a national treasure.
They just don't make them (artists) like they used to.

My pleasure! It's one of my all-time favorites too.
It is a great performance, shows up in a lot of my playlists as well.

Another Emily triumph ❤❤❤
It's done in the unofficial language Nynorsk but both Nynorsk and Bokmål have such beauty

fluent norwegian. fluent.
This cover is actually better than the original. Her norwegian dialect is much softer than Bjorn's Sorvestiandsk accent.
The cover is not better than the original but it is great.
I agree !
🤩😍😇
Emily is rather wonderful, isn't she❤❤❤❤?
👻💗👍
What!!! The original with Bjørn Eidsvåg in the western dialect is the right one!!! 😢
